The band of heroes make their way to the goblin camp. They make a point to close the temple doors, hoping that the death of the demon won't be discovered by anything else left inside.
Once at the camp, Loges does his best to clear the stench of the place with some prestidigitation. It doesn't do miracles, but it at least makes the place more tolerable.
Once their camp is roughly set up, Loges and Alexei return to town while the others watch the entrance to the cave.
At the temple, Alexei receives his healing.

Alexei and Loges return from Sandpoint carrying packed dinners from the Rusty Dragon - a little gift from Ameiko's kitchen. And the five heroes settle in for some rest, recovery and a pleasant supper. But they each make a point to keep a wary eye on the cavern entrance.
After supper, Loges scribes some scrolls. While Bruin channeled energy for the final time that night. Remember, +1HP because I suck.

Viroleth is a little busy playing with his new toy to notice something skillfully slinking out of the cave entrance. The others are in their blankets getting some sleep, so they don't notice anything either.
Ranseur vs. Viroleth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

But suddenly Viroleth feels a blinding pain in his shoulder as a sinspawn stabs him from behind. The Rogue shouts out, waking the others.

Well, everyone gets to go before the sinspawn. And everyone but Viro is currently prone, since they were laying down to rest.
Viroleth Sastan
"AUGH?! What the hell?! Who was on watch?"
Grabbing his shortsword, Viro lunges out at the sinspawn, angrily ranting but missing by a mile.

"Everyone! Up! It's one of these... things!"

Ouch. Those are not great rolls. I should mention that there is not a map since this is only a single enemy. Everyone is about 10 feet from the baddie, except for Viroleth, clearly.

Move action get up. Second move action move to flank with Viroleth. Btw the Ranseur is a reach weapon...
Boy been pikin his nose again. Beromar grumbles as he rolls out of his bedroll and rises right next to the fiend ready to break his neck.
Alexei Petrescu
Feeling much improved since the cleric's spell restored his strength, Alexei is loathe to camp out, and would rather chase down these hellspawn immediately, but sensing the weariness of the rest, he agrees to camp.
Stirred awake suddenly, he grabs his bow and quiver as a move action, and stands as the other action. Trying to get his bearings and a look at whatever is attacking them.
Just a pair of move actions to get ready.
Bruin Greenleaf
Bruin is jolted awake. He sees the aberration bearing down on Viroleth, grabs his crossbow, and gets to his feet.

Seeing that the lanky rogue has closed in, the sinspawn drops the ranseur and decides to attack with its natural weapons instead.

I'm going to assume I have a flank now.
Viro shoots Beromar a dirty look before he lunges out at the distracted sinspawn, stabbing at it viciously.

Viro opens up a heavy wound in the creature's belly, while Beromar rains punishment on its kidneys. Loges launches a splash of conjured acid, but is afraid to hit his friends so the shot goes wide.
Finally, Bruin takes careful aim with his crossbow, and opens fire.
crossbow: 1d20 + 5 - 4 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 5 - 4 + 1 = 20
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The bolt lands with a wet crack in the middle of the aberration's skull, piercing its brain. The sinspawn moans pitifully before falling over dead.
Encounter over.

Okay, everyone gains 120XP. Putting everyone's tally at 2,694XP. Okay, so we're each only 606XP to go for level 3.

"Viro! Are you okay?"
The cleric takes a look at the man's wounds and begins to bind them.
"I don't have any magic now. You'll need to tough it out until the morning. But give the word, and we'll rush you back to Sandpoint."
Beromar Copperkettle
Well it's his own bloody fault. Keepin watch ain't countin daisies Viroleth!
Beromar curses as he crawls back into his bedroll and is asleep before the Rogue can even retort.
Rasp the Rogue
The funny thing is that Viroleth actually got the highest perception check of the party. The sinspawn just had a better stealth check and happened to show up on his turn.
The Heroes turn in again and no there are no other surprises throughout the night. They wake up early the next morning and prepare to go back in the cavern.
Everyone regains 3HP for the nights sleep. How are we looking HP wise? I know I need to channel at least once because Bruin is pretty hurt still.

Viro stares murderously at Beromar's snoring form before he shakes his head.
"He can all the watches next time we do this if he's so keen. Thanks Bruin."
Viro is at 14/17.

Once the heroes had a cold breakfast of The Rusty Dragon leftovers. Bruin prayed for his spells.
"Gather round, fellows. Let's see if I can bring us back into good health."

Alexei rises, sore and weary from the combat of the day before, but ready for action. "Hopefully we see no more of those flying demons today, but yes, I am ready to return to the caverns."
He keeps his bow at the ready as they wander back into the tunnels below the city.
Alexei would usually take a spot near the back of the group, where his ranged attacks can be effective, if we need him for tracking, he will move to fore.

Aye nasty little b~%es... Beromar grumbles as he leads the group of heroes into the tunnel his axe hefted tightly in both hands.

Room B3
The heroes move steadily down the catacombs until the come upon a red marble statue of a strikingly beautiful but, at the same time, monstrously enraged human woman stands in the middle of this room, her stony expression twisted in fury. The woman wears flowing robes, and her long hair is held back from her face by an intricate headdress of hooks and blades. In her left hand she carries a large book, the face of which is inscribed with a seven-pointed star. Her right hand holds a glittering metal-and-ivory ranseur.
Of course, the heroes recognize the seven-pointed star as the Sihedron. The same symbol carried by some of the attacking goblins.
The ranseur appears removable.
Bruin Greenleaf
Bruin scans the statue for magical signatures but finds none. With a shrug he takes a look at the ranseur.
Appraise: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
"It's so shiny."
Alexei Petrescu
Alexei looks at the statue for a moment, but doesn't recognize the face of the snarling woman, and he's glad he doesn't know who that angry visage belongs to.
He shows passing interest in the weapon, but he's not familiar with the ranseur to consider using it.
Bruin Greenleaf
"No, not magical. But valuable. I think we can actually sell it as an art piece and make two hundred gold measures from it. Certainly more than if we'd sold it as a weapon."
Bear in mind, Bruin wildly failed his appraise check, so if someone smarter would love to step in, I'd be appreciative.

Viro wanders up to the ranseur, removing it from the statue to have a look over it.

Water ripples quietly on this circular stone pool, the rim of which is lined with skulls. Suddenly, a blackened, bat-winged head raises from the shadows by the pool. Tentacles dangle from its chin and scalp, and its fanged mouth hangs agape.
