I'm honestly shocked I wasn't conked out. With my luck, I would've expected to roll double 6's. The one time I DON'T want a high roll.

Well, unless something kills me quickly I can channel Erastil's energy to fix everyone up.

Maybe.

I raised my 2 hit points to 3.....
Dice roller is touchy at times.....I have thought about making it 2d3 instead of 1d6...for use on the boards.....

2d3 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4

And to flash back to another comic suggestion (which I'm currently mainlining for the 4th or 5th time) -- Mike Carey's Lucifer is pretty brilliant. On par with Gaiman's Sandman, in my opinion.

Gang, I've got a hell week coming up -- have to finish a 100+ page report, with editing and annexes. I think I have to declare hiatus until this weekend, hopefully Sunday but possibly Monday. Don't normally like to do that, but I'm transitioning between jobs and I absolutely have to get this done (and done well) before I start the new thing. So, need a few days. See you in about a week.

Take the time you need - I've got a publication manuscript to work on, so I completely understand. See you in a week or so.

A lot of us are badly injured right now -- maybe we should try to scare the thing off, or something. Maybe we can talk to it?

I mean, if we have to fight it, we have to, but is there a chance that we can talk to it?

female Human Inquisitor (Iconoclast)(Preacher)hp 3/8|AC 15|perc 8|init 1|Agile feet 7/7

I don't tink talking will work with a demon (if it was a devil it would certainly be worth a try).
Scaring it of might be difficult ( do demons still reform at their homeplane when they die?)

It is absolutely possible to talk to demons, and it is occasionally worthwhile. Whether it's a good idea now, with this particular demon, is a separate question.

Male Half orc Paladin 1 (redeemer archetype) AC 18 , HP 11/11, Int+1, Percep+1

If....if SCG realizes it's a half breed he might try to redeem the part of it that's not demonic...

DM how obvious is the creatures heritage?????
I mean the non demonic part, of course.

You need a Knowledge (planes) to realize it's a half-fiend.

-- Now in this particular case, the creature was fixed at Hostile, and there wasn't much y'all could do about that. However, if it had been open to discussion, you had two characters shooting at it while another was trying to talk!

Point being: going forward, you probably want to coordinate on this stuff before acting. PBP tends to encourage an "every man for himself" style of play, because talking stuff out first takes time and slows down a game that is already slow. But failure to cooperate is going to lead at a minimum to wasted actions. (At worst it's going to get y'all killed.)

Initiative macro, just copy paste the following:

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[spoiler=Initiative]
[dice=Balek]1d20+2[/dice]
[dice=Constantine]1d20+2[/dice]
[dice=Haruka]1d20+1[/dice]
[dice=Osei]1d20+1[/dice]
[dice=Takka]1d20+2[/dice]
[/spoiler]

It will look like this:

Initiative:

Balek: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Constantine: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Haruka: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Osei: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Takka: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

Spoiler:

And, BTW, to create and produce a macro of your own, you just have to OOC tag any bracket in the dice tags (I ooc'd the opening bracket below and in the previous post, you'll notice they are blue above). Just type without the spaces below -- e.g.,

[ ooc ] [ [ / ooc ] dice=Blah]1d20[/dice]

That refrains from the forums assuming the first bracket is part of the opening dice tag. However, that OOC-ness doesn't carry over in copy-paste, so that allows the post parsing to function normally and produce the dice rolls.

Anyone heard from Takka?

BTW - what's the plan here? Do we want to attempt to fight this thing, head on or try to retreat? If retreat, we don't really know the lay of the land, so to speak. But, we are all injured, most of us quite a bit. We don't really know how injured this thing is, except that it's damaged:

Douglas Muir 406 wrote:
It doesn't have wings, and has obviously taken a lot of damage from the fall.

For what it's worth, the reason Osei fired (without discussion) is that he was attempting to draw the fiend off of Felice. He further assumed that since it was a half fiend, it most likely fell from above with us (thus the injuries) which means it was involved in the attack on Kenabres, making it a definite enemy - unwilling to parley. Could have been wrong, but luckily, not this time!

On that note, I will be out of town most of this weekend - the launch that was delayed earlier in the year is taking place. If we happen to not blow up on the launchpad, I'll post a video for your space-stuff enjoyment (or amusement, if we explode).

Male Half orc Paladin 1 (redeemer archetype) AC 18 , HP 11/11, Int+1, Percep+1

Does anyone know where the person who plays Takka actually lives?

I am always hearing about random natural disasters all over the world, and realize that I have no idea who may be effected by something like that....

Male Half orc Paladin 1 (redeemer archetype) AC 18 , HP 11/11, Int+1, Percep+1

Maybe I should have attempted to smite evil instead does that work DMDM?

If so I will make the adjustments in the game thread.

If you want to smite here, you may.

I will assume that you went ahead with the smite.

I'M BACK IN ACTION!

Hey, everybody, really sorry about disappearing like that. Let's just say a series of both fortunate and unfortunate RL events conspired to take me offline for a good long while. However, I have things back under control and should be able to resume play (at least 1 post a day, maybe more)!

Give me a little bit to catch up on things and I can possibly rejoin the team, if you still have some room. <:)

Welcome back. I'm very familiar with how RL can blindside you -- no worries. Do try to drop us a short note, though, if it happens again.

I will do my best.

Also, is Takka an Oracle now, or has retraining yet to happen? (The answer will help dictate how he handles things next...)

Meanwhile assume Balek is keeping watch for any other stuff coming out of the dark.

You can switch now if you want to; certainly you've been through a big enough shock to justify a major transformation. If you want to stay a cavalier, an opportunity for another mount will appear. I'm good either way.

RL diversion: not a full complement of pictures, but here are a few of some of the launches.

A few rocket photos.

The super tall red/white rocket, in particular, was a two stager that easily broke Mach 2 and the dart extender on the top of the second stage was projected to ~27,000 meters (~88,560 feet) - not quite space, but we're getting closer. We also deployed a cubesat into the atmosphere to test the deployment mechanism.

Was a fun day, lots of good flights, no explosions on the pad. (Yay and/or boo?)

EDIT: Added one photo from last weekend, in which an associated lab tested a pulsed plasma thruster in the upper atmosphere. Nice earth curvature seen.

Okay, so - how do we want to handle The Laurine Situation?

She's an Abyssal bloodline sorcerer, maybe Aberrant (maybe cross-blooded), and is completely in tune with this chunk of the Worldstone. Is that dangerous for us? She seemed to be fearful of turning into a monster, and had some "good" inclinations. At the same time, this chunk of the stone is worrisome as it could push her to fully embrace the nature of her gifts - chaos, evil and all. Corruption/redemption is the name of the game, yes?

Do we just allow her to keep the stone? Do we attempt to wrest it away? If someone has a silver tongue, perhaps they could talk her down. Do we trust traveling with her/sleeping with her on watch?

If we get the stone away from her, what do we do with it? Osei would *love* to study the stone, but is simultaneously wary of the Abyssal ties. I don't think "just leaving it behind" is an option, either - could definitely fall into the wrong hands.

Thoughts?

Male Half orc Paladin 1 (redeemer archetype) AC 18 , HP 11/11, Int+1, Percep+1

I think Takka and I are currently somewhat distant from the situation, though if someone were to call us over for a consultation we would likely bring the wounded man along.

Male Human Cleric 1
Spoiler:
AC 16 t.12 ff.14, hp -2/9, saves F3 R2 W7, init +2, Per +6, touch of good 7/7, calming touch 6/7, channel 1/3

I can try a (short-term) protection from chaos spell if we decide we need to separate her from it. Balek would like to just get rid of the thing -- it can't possibly be a good idea to bring it along, but we probably can't destroy it.

But getting into a fight with someone we want to help protect should be a last resort.

female Human Inquisitor (Iconoclast)(Preacher)hp 3/8|AC 15|perc 8|init 1|Agile feet 7/7

Haruka could keep the stone, she has a save bonus against items and guarding /sealing evil magics fits with the miko theme.

Laurine should still have protection from evil(cast before the fall.

Mwangi Human Wizard 1
Spoiler:
HP 5/8 Init +1; Per +1 AC 15/11/14 Fort +1, Ref +1, Will +3

Osei did call out the situation with Laurine, but I'm not sure what distances are involved, situations with your character's concentration, how well voice carried, etc.

I thought about Protection from Evil, too, but I wonder if she's not really controlled by it - rather it just "feels like home" to her. Good point about the Prot from Evil from before the fall - but at 1 minute/level would it still be active?

I'm afraid if any of us have it in our possession, there will be a constant battle for our wits/souls/minds (many saving throws. wow. such natural 1s). Maybe Laurine is the best to handle it? Then again, is it right to condemn her to be Frodo, so to speak?
