Wednesday Daud |

As the two get in line Daud can't help but murmur to Gaius "So where do you think they're getting all the neat to give away? Ya don't suppose they're giving away the "special cuts" to the rabble?"

Pyron Firehide |

[ooc]Pyron spends time with the scorpion. He wonders what name it goes by or if no name, then perhaps Venom. After tarrying for a.while, he goes back to Zellaras's house.

Gaius Tindareus |

Good point--suddenly my appetite isn't quite what it was.
He crosses his arms, trying to remain patient in line.

DM Crispy |

Gaius and Daud wait the better part of the morning, the line progressing at a slow pace until they finally are 'next'. The tough in front of the door looks you up and down, sneers and points to the streets. "Kick off, ya bums. This meat here is for them that needs it."

Gaius Tindareus |

Actually we were looking to talk to someone about purchasing the night's special cuts. Can you help us with that?

DM Crispy |

"Ahhhhh....". The thugs stupid face takes on a crude level of cunning at Gaius' statement, and he waves the two of you in, closing and locking the door behind you. There is another man behind the counter. This one is also wearing chain, but also wears an apron and has a more friendly face.
The tough from outside says, "Malder, these two mentioned wanting to purchase the night's special cuts."
The other man looks at you shrewdly from behind the counter, his face somewhere between a frown and a sneer. "Money talks, gentlemen. Let's see those fifty crowns."
A statement for any rash action - the storefront has large windows where the meat (not much of it left anymore) is on display. You four are perfectly visible from the street.

Wednesday Daud |

Instead of talking Daud's mind is currently occupied with the doorman's comment as they make their way inside.
I thought this place was were all the bums were getting their food? So are we the bums of the bums, too poor for a handout? Or is it the reverse? We look too good to be poor and so in a city like this it is the well off who are the bums? Or because of Gaius does he think we're vegetarians?

Gaius Tindareus |

Fifty, huh? Gaius says, counting the coins in his sack.
Seems the price of meet has gone up lately.
He throws the bag to the man called Malder, then continues.
Well, I'll pay double if you can deliver it under certain conditions.
Gaius leans in, talking low.
Her name's Tolenn. She's big of frame and fair of face, if you can look past the scars. I want her taken alive, and I want to be there when it goes down to do the 'carving' myself. If you can handle that, I'll pay you another fifty when it's done. Just make sure your butchers know my requests. The address is I can't look it up now, but Zellara's house
He motions to Wednesday and says: Daud here will be inside the house, too. I'll be waiting across the street, I can avoid attention when the need calls for it. Do NOT take her lightly--bring enough men for the job. She's a deft hand with a blade. Midnight tonight? Do we have a deal?
Bluff to conceal true motives: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

DM Crispy |

Both men size you up, and you can see their eyes flicking over your weaponry and armor. Malder licks his lips at the mention of 'double' pay, but asks, "You fellows look like you could handle a lone b&!+$. Why ya looking to hire out to the Cow Hammer Boys?"
The two men look at each other, then the one named Malder, behind the counter, smiles knowingly, nodding. "Ahhh, I see. You look the part, but you're just a couple of cravens, aren't ya? Well don't ya fret, the Boys will make sure all your troubles go away."
Thug 1 Sense Motive: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13
Malder Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Malder Bluff: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
Gaius Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Daud Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21(adjust it as needed, couldn't access MythWeavers at work.
The thug Malder catches the bag of money. "Aye, we'll be there at midnight tonight, and we'll catch your pretty alive for ya, if you're wanting the pleasure of carving her yourself. Maybe we'll all have a little go at her, as well, eh?" He laughs crudely, the other thug joining in once he realizes what the man is talking about.
You can tell that Malder is on to your b~@~&$#*. FYI, nat 20 trumps a high skill roll, unless you roll a 20 as well.

Wednesday Daud |

Oh np, if you like I could move it back to the Paizo sheet if it'd be easier for you.
Cow Hammer Boys? Having dealt with Troll Augurs and Adherents of the Child Goddess I can safely say that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Did they just randomly grab stuff from around the shop until they came up with something they liked?

Wednesday Daud |

"Maybe we'll all have a little go at her, as well, eh?" He laughs crudely, the other thug joining in once he realizes what the man is talking about
The thug's words snap Daud out of his internal ramblings as he thinks about going for his sword but constrains himself at the moment to simply dig his fingers deeply into his palms.
Heaven help The Courtesan if he wants to take these pigs in alive.
Gaius Tindareus |

I guess we'll just have to see how well you can handle yourselves. Don't be late, I'll be waiting there for you.
Gaius nods to Daud and exits.
On the way back, when they're far out of earshot:
I'm glad that oaf made that last comment--now I can really enjoy smashing his face in tonight. C'mon, let's tell the others that the trap is set.
If there's no interruptions, I'd like to return to Zellara's house and tell the others everything went according to plan.

Wednesday Daud |

Although he doesn't verbally respond as they make their way back Daud does slowly abd deliberately nod his head as they move.

Pyron Firehide |

Pyron just meditates on his newfound abilities.

Tolenn |

While waiting Tolenn has taken a look at the rest of the house, finding a quiet room to pray and prepare for the night's activities.

Wednesday Daud |

Daud will spend some time until the trap pacing back and forth about the house.
It's going to be okay. They're just a bunch of thugs and The Empty Throne can handle herself. We'll also be there this time... This time.
In an attempt to put his mind at ease he'll begin scouring the house in case Zellara left any other notes or mementos behind for them to find.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

Wednesday Daud |

Me and Vuk are in the house.

Wednesday Daud |

Oh my bad, if you meant at the time of the trap we'll be in the ally alongside Gaius.

Wednesday Daud |

*Looks back all of 5 previous posts*
Doh! You're right, back to the house and pacing for me :3

Pyron Firehide |

My character was not at the meeting, so he will be in an alleyway.

Gaius Tindareus |

Pyron, I didn't tell these "Cow Hammer Boys" about you--your presence may give them pause. It'd be best if you stayed out of sight until the fighting starts. You may be able to catch some of them off guard.

Pyron Firehide |

Alright. Pyron finds some cardboard boxes outside from behind a store. He brings them inside into a corner. He makes himself a spot behind the boxes where he can spring forward when fighting occurs. He will have his morningstar out in his hand.

Holy crap! Pyron discovered Cardboard, we're gonna be rich :3

Pyron Firehide |

Ok. Not cardboard. Ummm.... Wood, clothes, stuff, lots of stuff. Possibly even smelly stuff...eww.

Wednesday Daud |

Ok. Not cardboard. Ummm.... Wood, clothes, stuff, lots of stuff. Possibly even smelly stuff...eww.
Pile of dead orphans? No one will ever expect you under there.

Tolenn |

After the others have left, Tolenn says a small prayer to Sarenae and makes her way to the ambush location. She make no attempt at stealth,, walking openly and confidently into the small courtyard, trusting her friends were lurking in wait. She does take note of her surrounding.
Perception 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Tolenn |

Tolenn, you and Wednesday are basically just hanging out at Zellara's old home, with Pyron hiding behind a bunch of crap in a corner (thinking Beverly Hills Ninja, here). Gaius is across the street in an alley.
Right, didn't pick up on the fact that the house was the ambush location.
Tolenn remains kneeling against the wall opposite the entrance, supposedly deep in prayer...m

DM Crispy |

As you ready yourselves and Pyron hides behind his impromptu cover, Gaius spies the Cow Hammer Boys walking down the street. They make no real attempt at stealth, strutting cockily through the moonlight towards the provided address. The two from the butcher's shop are there, in addition to a third man, taller and more slender than the other two, though he certainly seems to share his companions' aversion to cleanliness.

Pyron Firehide |

Am I quiet enough back here?

Pyron Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14
Tolenn Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Wednesday Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

Pyron Firehide |

init: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 for whenever it is time for his initiative.

Gaius Tindareus |

Gaius approaches the men, his own sword and shield drawn.
Remember our deal, Gaius whispers. I'll pay you double but I want her alive. Daud and his dog are also inside--they will help us. Guy with the biggest 'weapon' gets to go first. I guess that's you, he says, nodding with a smile to the man with the overlarge hammer.
Let's move.

DM Crispy |

The man with the hammer (the unknown man) smiles crudely at Gaius. The men nod to each other, then Gaius, then proceed to bull through the door.
Tolenn, Gaius, and the Cow Hammer Boys will act in the surprise round. Pyron, I will allow your initiative to stand for this, since I don't want you to think I am punishing your high roll. I will roll all initiatives at the beginning of combat. This speeds things up, since we don't have to have my call for initiative, then another day waiting for everyone to roll. Also, please don't roll 'in advance' for anything.
Initiatives:
Gaius: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Daud & Vuk: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Tolenn: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Cow Hammer Boys: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Gaius Tindareus |

It didn't matter, but I get +2 to init and certain skills in urban terrain. Since the hammer bros go first, could you take their turns? What they do will affect what I (and probably Tolenn) do on my turn.

Tolenn |

[dice=Stealth]1d20-2
Am I quiet enough back here?
Tolenn smiles wryly, "For one thing, boxes don't talk." she quiets down quickly as she hears the tell-tale of blades being drawn.
Still, she is taken abit by surprise by the sudden entrance of the thugs....
