Round 2

Sour Heck
Eloise
Iesha
Skeletons x 2
Talia
Peredur

Sour Heck beats a hasty retreat, Eloise's downward swing at the skeleton assaulting her cleaves away its right shoulder, arm and rib cage, and the thing collapses.

We'll let Iesha go, then I'll update the skeletons and have a round 2 map, if necessary.

For Round 3 Iesha will move to the square to her east and Channel Energy to harm undead.

Round 2

The two remaining skeletons close in on all sides, attacking again. Peredur and Iesha are both raked by the claws.

-5 hp to Peredur. -4 HP to Iesha

Skeleton attacks:

Attack v Iesha claw 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

Damage to Iesha: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Iesha's retort finds no purchase however.

Talia:

A chill run up Talia's spine, and a ghostly vision floats toward her, a shrouded figure, followed by a flock of stirges, the figure reaching out for her with a bony claw. The vision then blurs and vanishes before it reaches her, and the chill vanishes.

Peredur and Talia still to act, then an updated map and round three

This is the last round of Heck's Countersong effect as well, it will wear off at the beginning of round three.

Round 3

Sour Heck snatches a fallen length of iron bar from the debris on the ground and drags it across bars of the cell next to him. He starts to bang out a great, clanging rhythm of metal on metal, punctuated with an occasional coconut-like clunk whenever the cell occupant’s cranium comes within reach.

Countersong Performance(Percussion): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

The impromptu concert fairly drowns out the Piper’s haunting melody.

Note that Countersong works in a 30’ spread, so end your turns in a 30’ move of Sour Heck if you don’t want to risk making your own saves. Also, if you stay in line of sight, Heck can use his immediate spells when you get in trouble.

Female Changeling Witch 4; Init: +2; Perc: +0 (+9 - Kieli); Fort: +2; Ref: +3; Will: +4 (+2 vs Fear)

Round 2:

Talia shudders, then moves swiftly up beside Iesha, touching her lightly on the shoulder with a healing hand and cursing the undead around them. I hope I'm within range, Mr. Heck, she thinks. I didn't think to bring a measuring tape...

Healing Hex (Iesha): 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

"Let's make sure to keep you up and running, Iesha, shall we?" Talia says, grinning.

Round 3

Sour Heck
Eloise
Iesha
Talia
Peredur

Peredur hammers down another skeleton, and Iesha blasts away the last to ash with a wave of holy energy.

With the cleric's channel comes a stumble in the music, as if the ghostly instrument were dropped, or suddenly violently out of tune. The Piper's song continues again after, though somewhat weaker, and is then drowned out again by Heck's impromptu performance.

Heck:

A momentary chill sweeps over the bard, and a vision of a shrouded figure floating toward him, flashes before his eyes. The skeleton clutches a flute and is accompanied by a pack of ghostly stirges. It grows close, but the image is fractured by a particularly loud downbeat of the bard's performance, and it vanishes, along with the chill.

"Whatever you just did, Iesha, do that a whole lot more. The skeletons in the cells didn't like it any more than the Piper did!"

Round 4
Sour Heck
Eloise
Iesha
Talia
Peredur

With no skeletons remaining, the party need only contend with the reaching claws of the skeletons still locked away... and the Piper's hideous, yet so far unsuccessful influence. Despite being drowned out by Sour Heck, and disrupted by Iesha's channel, the murderer's spirit still haunts the area.

Round 4

“I just saw the Piper--there!” Sour Heck calls out, pointing to where there spirit wavered before him for a moment.

The bard continues to hammer out his rhythm one-handed, but also pulls out a vial of holy water, preparing to splash it on the spirit when it next manifests.

Countersong Performance (Percussion): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Clearly the bard is growing tired.

Sour Heck readies an action to throw holy water on the Piper if he sees it again. He continues his performance, which is a free action. Did just two of us act in round 3?

if anyone wants to edit in an action for round 3, please do so, however with no physical enemies left to kill, i just wanted to keep things moving.

"I've got a sneaking suspicion of where we'll find the piper's bones," Eloise says, her voice grim. "Keep it up, Sour Heck!"

Eloise runs towards the door west of the guard post, the one with only a slot. "You in there, Piper?" she shouts as she pulls on the door with one gloved hand, testing its lock. "Get ready to face Pharasma's judgment if you are! Your music is done, now hear my war-songs!"

The Chelishwoman launches into another song while working to get the door open, this one in the robust language of the Shoanti. It is, indeed, a war-chant, a call to battle.

Perform (sing) to assist Sour Heck: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14.

With Heck's flagging performance, the Piper's song once again grows stronger, bolder, and more maddeningly and unnaturally complex. The musician holds little regard for proper meter, scales or even a theme, alternating between trilling high notes and long, low dirge-like moans.

Eloise's movements grow slow for a moment, as she wrenches the door open, and a vision of the Piper flashes before her eyes before vanishing.
Will Save: Eloise: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

Although it is a spacious cell, there are no concessions to comfort within. A skeleton, wrapped in the rotting remains of a prisoner's robes, lies slumped against the eastern wall, wrapped in numerous chains, on which are affixed numerous weights, each emblazoned with a different holy symbol.

"I've found him!" Eloise bellows. "Bring the haunt siphon! Bring it now!"

Talia dashes forward, following Eloise's call. "I have one!" she shouts, pulling out the Haunt Siphon and drawing next to the magus.

"Begone, flighty wisp!" she taunts, pulling forth the stopper, hoping to end the Piper and his piping once and for all...

Damage from the Haunt Siphon: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 4) = 15

Talia cracks open the top of the Haunt Siphon, and their is an audible and physical sensation, as the vacuum inside the glass object pulls at the spirit of the Piper. The notes squelch and become tuneless and then vanish as the siphon fills. A hideous green light shines from within the Siphon; and the silence of the Piper's finale fills the Prison.

He moves to Talia and peers over her shoulder at the siphon. “You made that look simple enough. Is the bug-loving stage hog trapped in there now, or dispersed?”

“If that’s the next haunt we’re after, how about I suck him up with my siphon right now? Then we can finish searching this floor--might be another of them lurking about that we can squeeze into our last siphon.”

“After that, we can head to town, get some rest and some rope, and persuade that Pharmasran gnome to lay the haunts’ energies to rest and reset the siphons for the last ones.”

Sour Heck looks at the pink new skin on Iesha’s arms where the skeleton’s claws, moments before, had left bloody furrows. “You’ve the gift of healing, then, Talia? I wouldn’t mind a touch from those hands of yours, myself.”

The corpse holds no surprise, and no more supernatural activity manifests itself.

The unexplored rooms in the north reveal themselves to be another old privvy; The north room of the central cell-block is in fact a closet, the only noteworthy part of which is a ladder, leading to a trap door in the ceiling.

The northwest room is also a closet, though this one has a door that leads outside , ajar enough that it is clear to see that it leads to one of the balconies that flank either side of the prison.

Male N Half Elf ("Andoren") Urban Ranger 5 ***INACTIVE*** |HP: 34/44| AC: 16 (13 Tch, 13 Fl, +2 vs. undead) | CMB: +7, CMD: 20 | F: +6, R: +7, W: +3 | Init: +5 base | Perc: +15 base, SM: +2 base |Speed 30 ft | No dailies | Spells: 1st 2/2 | Active conditions: None.

STR check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Peredur is unable to get any purchase at all on the door from his position on the ladder. "Oof! It's thinking I am that we'll need more backs than just mine here."

Is the ceiling low enough here that we could bring in the guard's desk and reach the trap door from there?

Female CG Human Bladebound Magus 6 | HP: 33/51 | AC: 21 (13 Tch, 20 Fl) | CMB +5, CMD +16 | F: +7, R: +3, W: +5 | Init: +5 | Perc.: +2 | SM: +0 | Speed 30 ft. | Arcane pool 3/6 | Spells: 1st: 3/5, 2nd: 2/4: Active conditions: None

"Let me try," Eloise says. She waits for Peredur to come down, then clambers up and tries the same feat the Half-Elf was attempting.

Strength check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19.

Hmph! "Anything injured?" "Just my pride." :-)

Male N Human (mixed Varisian and Kellid) Dirge Bard 11 | HP: 107/90| AC: 18 (11 Tch, 17 Fl) | CMB: +8, CMD: 20 | F: +13, R: +12, W: +14 | Init: +10 | Perc: +14, SM: +8 | Speed 30ft | Bardic Performance Rounds: 30/30 | Spells: 1st: 7/7; 2nd: 5/6; 3rd: 4/5; 4th: 2/3| Active conditions: none.

Sour Heck passes his crowbar up to Eloise. “Try to drop it on my foot, if you can. Dropping it on my head would be much worse.”

He then thrusts his longspear into the trapdoor’s bottom and prepares to push when Eloise starts levering it open.

Aid Another on strength check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

I think that should give you +2 from the tool and +2 from my aid on your roll.
