Description::
Before the guard stood a tall, pale woman. Thick, dark hair cascaded down her back, the ends brushing her knees. She wore a white blouse with blue trim under a matching corset, and a pale yellow skirt fell to her ankles. Her striking features hinted at elven blood somewhere in her ancestry. "I'm afraid I must ask you to come with me, young lady," said the guard. "Of course," she replied. The smile she gave him reached her eyes, and he noted they were different colors: one blue, the other green. He took her by the elbow and led her away from the market, the remaining members of the City Watch, and the body of the man which lay at her feet. "I'm Talia, by the way," she remarked.
Background::
Parents: Ahn and Rhonus Senshir
Excerpts from Talia's Journal: ...Mama insists I start a journal to help learn my letters. I think it's 'cause she's a teacher at the school, though. Papa brought a big fish home from work today, but he's a fisherman and always brings fish home. I want steak! ...Woke from a nightmare again. I was in a swamp and a dark shape was rising out of the water, calling to me. I try to run but my feet sink into the muck and sludge and I can't move and the dark shape keeps getting closer. Just before I awoke, I heard the sound of wings above me. Strange. Oh, and my stupid parents are downstairs arguing again. Likely about me--I've noticed mother looking at me strangely, of late. ...I can't believe mother is gone! Father won't talk about why she left, he just says he loves me and that it wasn't my fault. But I know he's not saying a lot. Personally, I think she left because of my weird eyes. I heard her yelling a few weeks ago that I didn't get them from her or father. Do I even want to know where they came from? What my origins are? I don't need any new nightmares, thanks. ...Yet another nightmare. But I awoke this time to a tapping at my window. A raven was outside and looking at me. I opened the window, but instead of flying away, it hopped inside! It's sitting on my bedside table now, just looking at me. But for some reason, he makes me feel calm. I wonder what his name is... ...Kieli the Raven has been teaching me magic while father's at work! I can't believe it! For a raven, he's remarkably intelligent. He says he was sent to my by spirits and that's where I get the magic and ability to heal by touch, but he jokes a lot, so I'm not sure I can trust that. Maybe he's a wizard trapped in the body of a bird? In any case, he's going to teach me how to tell fortunes tomorrow, so that'll be fun. I can read the cards in the market for coins! ...A wonderful man came to my aid last week, and I've made a new friend! I was in the market telling fortunes, and there were lots of people. Someone screamed and fell close to me. I went to check if he was all right and heal him, but he was already dead. When I looked up there were guards all around me, and a moment later I'd been arrested for murder! But a Professor Lorrimor was there, and insisted he accompany us and speak on my behalf. I owe him my life! If he hadn't been there and been so kind, I'm sure I'd have been blamed and sentenced to death. I've started corresponding with the Professor--he knows so much! If there's ever anything I can do for him... They never did find the man's killer, though. I still wonder what happened... ...Tragedy this week--almost more than I can stand! Father died in a boating accident. At least, that's what I'm told. I've been dealing with that the last few days. And then I receive a letter that my wonderful Professor friend has also died! I am sick with grief. But I must move forward. I'll finish with father's funeral and leave for the Professor's. I hope I can make it to Ravengro in time. Sigh. There is little left for me at home any more. I'll pack what I can carry, and see what the spirits have in store for me...
