Round 4__________
Sylvianna______
Grunting at the crystal imparts a small shock, Sylvianna continues to stab the vile demon with her cold iron dagger.
After first almost stabbing herself, she brilliantly evaded the demon’s parry to stab it right in the torso, producing a sucking chest wound that seems to fatigue the dretch as well as produce a gout of blood.
LizArdoc______
Liz acrobatics to C-11 to flank with Nadoka
Clumsily, Liz rolled into flank with Nakoda.
She then stabs with her dagger
Liz just managed to hit with a precision strike to a vital point. Even the demon’s tough hide is unable to stop the thrust from hurting it.
Zephram Taranis______
Zephram starts to twist away from the beast's attacks, then notices the orb flying toward him and flings himself forward out of the way of the sudden burst of electricity.. but toward the demon's claws and teeth, getting inside the beast's attacks. He wasn't expecting that.... Finding himself inside the creature's defenses, he smiles, ...or, this, I'll wager, and slashes again with the cold iron dagger.
With what looked like effortless motion, Zephram’s slash neatly cut the demon’s throat all the way through. It fell in a gout of blood.
Nakoda______
Swinging again, Nakoda tried to hit the demon harder.
She hit, but again, the demon’s tough hide resisted a lot of her damage.
(npc) Zane_______
Zane’s eye fell on the wounded dretch and he punched the air. His Telekinetic Fist hit punched the Dretch in the stomach, lightly wounding him and stunning him briefly.
ENEMIES_____________________
Dretch 2 is stunned this round and can’t do anything.
Dretch 3 stood up and stumbled around, still blind from the glitterdust.
Dretch 4 ran around the curve of the platform to grab another irreplaceable elven memory crystal off another stand and throws it at Zane.
Globe toss vs touch AC: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 possibly dealing 1d6 ⇒ 6 electrical damage to him.
...Crit Confirm?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 nope.
Realizing the value of the globes, Zane used his Arrow Snatching power to catch the globe aimed at him safely; it doesn't explode.
Dretch 5 gleefully grabs another irreplaceable elven memory crystal off another stand and throws it at Sylvianna.
Globe toss vs touch AC: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 possibly dealing 1d6 ⇒ 5 electrical damage to her and. Zephram will also take1d6 ⇒ 6 electrical damage, but he gets a Ref save DC11 for half damage.

Sylvianna |

Dodging the thrown crystal at the last second, Sylvianna dashes forward with the speed and grace that only an elf can accomplish, viciously driving her cold iron punching dagger deep into the dretch's gut.

Zephram Taranis |

Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Zephram dodges the worst of the blast, then winces, I shudder to think what precious knowledge was just lost... but I can at least stop this from happening again.. He starts to rush the nearest Dretch, the one that hurled a crystal at the ranger, but seeing Sylvianna rushing it, he pauses, reaching down to his belt and drawing an extract, allowing its magic to fill him, and then crossing the room to close on the dretch that hurled at Zane.
Drinking the extract of expeditious retreat -- base move is now 65', so I should be able to reach #4...

Nakoda |
Certainly irked that that she had missed the cues to acquire a weapon that would affect the demons, Nakoda gritted her teeth and continued attacking, unable to think of something that could level the field.

Round 5______
LizArdoc______
Liz stabs again
But her wild stab missed.
Sylvianna_____
Dodging the thrown crystal at the last second, Sylvianna dashes forward with the speed and grace that only an elf can accomplish, viciously driving her cold iron punching dagger deep into the dretch's gut.
Her superb strike hits important blood vessels in the throat; blood fountained high into the air and the dretch goes down.
Zane Argentus_____
Pointing at the blind dretch, Zan sends a volley of projectiles of pure force slamming into the misshapen demon.
Blinded and unable to dodge, I would call that a critical. The card says ‘Knockback’, and so Dretch 3 is riddled by the force of the magic missiles, is flung back and pinned to the platform behind him, thoroughly dead.
Zephram Taranis_____
Zephram dodges the worst of the blast, then winces, I shudder to think what precious knowledge was just lost... but I can at least stop this from happening again.. He starts to rush the nearest Dretch, the one that hurled a crystal at the ranger, but seeing Sylvianna rushing it, he pauses, reaching down to his belt and drawing an extract, allowing its magic to fill him, and then crossing the room to close on the dretch that hurled at Zane.
Drinking the extract of expeditious retreat -- base move is now 65', so I should be able to reach #4...
In a burst of unnatural speed, Zephram blurred and suddenly, he is standing next to Dretch 4. (Even through the rubble of stones dropped by Zane earlier.)
Nakoda_____
Certainly irked that that she had missed the cues to acquire a weapon that would affect the demons, Nakoda gritted her teeth and continued attacking, unable to think of something that could level the field.
[ooc]Her attack was excellent, but again her weapon was turned aside by the tough hide of the demon.
Enemies______________
Dretch 2 recovered from its stun and attacked Nakoda, maniacally clawing and biting at her.
Claw 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 for a possible 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 slashing damage.
Claw 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 for a possible 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 slashing damage.
Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 for a possible 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 slashing damage.
Dretch 4 shrieked in surprise and attacked Zephram, maniacally clawing and biting at him.
Claw 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 for a possible 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 slashing damage.
Claw 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 for a possible 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 slashing damage.

Zephram Taranis |

Zephram winces as the Dretch connects with a claw, Its reactions were a little faster than I'd expected... Is there something strange or remarkable about this one? He pauses for a moment, watching the thing snarl and reach for him, then nods, Seems to have the same near-mindless style.... just adapted to its reach... I must have just rushed into its attack..... just like it will if I strike... now.
Cold Iron Dagger (Studied): 1d20 + 10 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 10 + 3 = 20 for 1d4 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 3 = 8

Nakoda |
Nakoda was impressed. Liz was looking like she was managing to hit some very vital spots, given what could be interpreted as the demon's reactions. Confidently grinning, she kept harrying the demon with semi-effectual attacks.

DM-Camris |

This chamber is clearly meant to be a giant scrying ceremony anchor.
There are six of the crystal globe remaining. The rest were thrown and destroyed by the dretches. The shelves around the perimeter of the chamber hold places for more globes, but are empty.
Most of the globes only show vague shifting images of an ancient elven city. One of the globes that survives the fight still partially functions. A glowing flickering figure appears in the middle of the crystal and turns towards you.
This globe was meant to convey information on elven history. It actually responds to your questions.
Each globe weighs 10 pounds and is extremely fragile.

Zane Argentus |

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12 WTF???
With a sigh of relief, Zane looks around the chamber, unsure of it's purpose. Noting the glowing figure her studies it for a moment, surprised to encounter magic so unlike that of his prior experiences.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11

Zephram Taranis |

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 12 + 1d6 ⇒ (15) + 12 + (5) = 32
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 12 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 12 + (6) = 23
Zephram takes a moment to study the crystals and the room, then nods at Liz's statement, "Indeed, I believe you are correct. These crystals are intended to convey elven history... in fact, I believe they would even answer our questions. The knowledge they hold is likely invaluable, but as you can see, highly fragile. The destruction of these spheres is a terrible loss..."

Sylvianna |

Sylvianna frowns at the discovery that the filthy dretches were throwing the invaluable memory crystals. Collecting her weapons she sheathes them. "We can report that later, we need to clear through to prepare for the main assault. These scum consort with demons of the lowest kind." she says with disgust.

Zephram Taranis |

Zephram says, "For now, given their size, I would suggest that we find a place to hide them -- let's keep them secure and shift about the shards to make it appear they were all destroyed. Unless someone has a bag of holding large enough to contain them?"

Nakoda |
"I have one as well", Nakoda commented after Liz, frowning down at the dead demon, considering what could have been done better. With the corpse being inert, she poked at it with the hammer, examining it. Curiously, she examined the skin of the demons, a thoughtful look on her face as she paid half attention to the conversation that was going on.

DM-Camris |

Approaching the southern door in the vestibule, Liz makes short work of the remnants of the lock and opens it.
Beyond is another circlular chamber much like the northern Hall of Memories. This chamber was once used for displaying expertly crafted
tapestries and paintings but over the years these have fallen into ruin, with only a few scraps of ancient fabric hanging on the walls.
Thick spiderwebs cover much of the walls, but after a heartstopping search the only spiders to be found are of ordinary size.
There is a single locked door on the southern side.

Zephram Taranis |

Seeing Liz struggle, Zephram suggests, "Perhaps I should give it a try?"
Disable: 1d20 + 17 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + 17 + (4) = 28 That's assuming it's a lock and not including the +3 from trapfinding

DM-Camris |

Zephram easily opened the lock and opened the doors.
Beyond you see...
The center of this vast oval chamber is dominated by a number of tall stone bookcases coated in dust and cobwebs.
Some of these shelves lean ominously to one side, their age clearly showing.
Scattered about the floor of the chamber are thousands of crumbling tomes, most holding little more than scraps and dust, their knowledge forever lost.

Nakoda |
Doing what she could to remain quiet, Nakoda remained in the entryway, considering a number of spells that she could cast that might help in the event that they encountered more demons. The library did not hold much allure for her, though she was aware of how much history could potentially be held and salvaged from the decrepit tomes.

Zephram Taranis |

Zephram follows quietly, also keeping himself alert, then whispering, "Sylvianna, can your tracking skills tell us anything about the footprints?"
Stealth: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (2) + 19 = 21
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31

DM-Camris |

The tracks are pretty even as far as traffic, leading forward and back in all three directions. Recent, as the library dust has not settled back into them yet.
You see a flicker of motion south as something flitted across the far end of the stacks.
You see a flicker of motion south as something flitted across the far end of the stacks.
But more quietly, you hear the subtle *click* of a crossbow string being set; it seems to be coming from the East side of the stacks.

Zephram Taranis |

Zephram's hand drops to his belt, drawing his rapier with a practiced motion, as he uses his enhanced speed to rush to the east end of the stacks, trying to get close enough to ruin the upcoming shot.
(Assuming that the expeditious is still up -- and that my companions will figure out what I'm doing -- calling out mighte have led to them shooting first...)
