DM-Camris' SAVAGE TIDE: Chapter 3, The Savage Kraken's Wake! (Inactive)

SECTION 5.3: THE SECRET OF THE THUNDERER
Bodyguards to Lady Vanderboren, our heroes have refurbished an old pirate ship just in time to embark on a fateful voyage south.
Trapped in an awakened Sargasso, they seek the heart of it to escape!
"With sloping masts and dipping prow,
As who pursued with yell and blow
Still treads the shadow of his foe,
And forward bends his head,
The ship drove fast, loud roared the blast,
The southward aye we fled."

-Coleridge "The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner"

Male Half-elf Sorc 3 / Rogue 3, HP: 34/34, AC: 18, Ref: +7, Fort: +2, Will: +5

With a surprised smile on his face after his fortunate recovery, Phillip takes the vial of alchemist fire he managed to hold onto and tosses it at the feet of the pirates in an attempt to block access to one of the gangplanks. He then steps back and draws his short sword, focusing all of his energy on defense.

Round 4______________

Bryson Deepwinter
Bryson gives up on his scimitar and calls forth a bolt of lightning from the ceiling.
Rowyn ducks aside again, but again takes some damage.

Ghirrak Ironfist_______________

Rising and kicking the unconscious pirate aside, Ghirrak inspects the book rack first, while glancing over at the apparatus.
Quickly glancing over the texts, Ghirrak sees titles such as:
Secrets of the Element of Steam, by Fader, the Loyal Alchemist
Analyzing the Mystical Unusual Secret Distillate of Hermetics Magic, by Dunsiah, the Beatific Transmuter
Analysis of Ether of Night, by Dexzel, Conjurer of the Fifth Circle
Alchemy for Dunces: A primer, by Professor Antimonius Humm
The apparatus seems to be in the middle of distillating one, maybe two potions.

Phillip Pharlan

Phillip takes the vial of alchemist fire he managed to hold onto and tosses it at the feet of the pirates in an attempt to block access to one of the gangplanks. He then steps back and draws his short sword, focusing all of his energy on defense.

[npc]Dgrim swings away in the melee at the waist, attacking the four at the aft gangway.
Dwarven waraxe attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15 Hit! for 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 damage.

[npc]Annie takes a crossbow shot at one of the pirates charging across the yardarm.
Crossbow shot: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 Hit! for 1d8 ⇒ 1 damage.

Rowyn continues to attack Bryson with the crossbow bayonet.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 Fumble! Loses other attacks, loses 1 to Dex AC.

In the melee at the waist, four pirates flank and attack Dgrim in a more coordinated manner.
Cutlass attack 1: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 = 8 Miss.
Cutlass attack 2: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 2 = 10 Miss.
Cutlass attack 3: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 2 = 22 Miss.
Cutlass attack 4: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 2 = 11 Miss.

On the yardarm, a couple of pirate snipers spot Annie and shoot at her.
Crossbow attack 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 Miss.
Crossbow attack 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 Miss.

Aboard the pirate ship an unfortunate pirate takes 1d6 ⇒ 5 of fire damage and immolates when Phillip threw the alchemist fire on his hex. The gangplank he was standing on is temporarily blocked by flames, and four of the pirates shift around Phillip to flank and attack him.
Cutlass attack 1: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 = 13 Miss.
Cutlass attack 2: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 2 = 15 Miss.
Cutlass attack 3: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 2 = 11 Miss.
Cutlass attack 4: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 = 7 Miss.

Off on the quarterdeck you can see Spinnaker Jon fighting with a couple of pirates while he defends the helm.

Ghirrak searches the pirate's body, tying him up if there is any rope available, before heading back in the direction of Bryson.

Ghirrak:
Something jabs your foot as you tie up Bob. Reaching down and feeling around, you find a secret catch. You realize that you have found a secret hatchway into the ships bilge.

Male Half-elf Sorc 3 / Rogue 3, HP: 34/34, AC: 18, Ref: +7, Fort: +2, Will: +5

Seeing the pirates closing in, Phillip dips a hand into his pouch and grabs a handful of colorful sand. With a bit of dramatic flair he says a few words of power and tosses the sand toward several of his attackers while side stepping to keep as many swords from reaching him as possible.

5' step and cast Color Spray to catch as many of the oncoming pirates as he can.

Female Human Cleric 6 {HP: 37 /37 AC: 21}

Annie is holding actions, staying out of ranged attacks as best she can, until someone needs healing or the rigging is aflame or damaged. She'll prioritize healing people over the rigging.

Shock her again. Call Lightning 3d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2) = 8 v DC 16
Lightning flashes again. Rowyn Ref save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19, again she ducks most of the lighning strike.

Ghirrak Ironfist___________

Ghirrak searches the pirate's body, tying him up.

Ghirrak:
Searching Bob, you find 61 crowns worth of mixed coinage, a bronze sailors knife (masterwork), and a small glass bottle of some very dark amber liquid.

Phillip Pharlan__________

5' step and cast Color Spray to catch as many of the oncoming pirates as he can.
Stepping back against the gunwales, Phillip waves his hand in a sudden motion and a coruscating wave of violently clashing colors washes over the pirates in front of him.

Gull Street Annie_________

Annie is holding actions, staying out of ranged attacks as best she can, until someone needs healing or the rigging is aflame or damaged. She'll prioritize healing people over the rigging.

Annie:
You notice that the pirates have made no attempt to use fire, you interpret this as they want to take the ship intact. You also see the pirates have pushed the Kraken’s crew halfway across the waist, and two are seriously injured.

Ghirrak Ironfist__________

Ghirrak grabs a hold of the hatch, pulling it free to drop down into the bilge, eyes scanning for signs of anything unusual.

Ghirrak:
You drop into the bilge. An inch or so of fetid water washes back and forth over your feet. The height is only five feet, but you can travel the length of the ship and you see access hatches every twenty feet to the cargo deck above you.
Of more interest is the fifty gallon barrel sitting next to the mainmast footing. From the acrid stench coming from the open top, it is filled to the brim with some kind of acid, and there is some kind of contraption hanging over it. Several small vials of multicolored liquid attached with line and a clockwork mechanism.

[npc]Dgrim swings away in the melee at the waist, attacking the four at the aft gangway.
Dwarven waraxe attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23 for 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 damage. He hacks a pirate down.

Rowyn continues to attack Bryson with the crossbow bayonet.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 Miss.
Attack 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 Hit! for 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 piercing damage.

In the melee at the waist, four pirates flank and attack Dgrim in a more coordinated manner.
Cutlass attack 1: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 2 = 22
Cutlass attack 2: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 2 = 22
Cutlass attack 3: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 = 8
Cutlass attack 4: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 2 = 14
But Dgrim's defense is just too stiff and nothing hits.

On the yardarm, a couple of pirate snipers continue to snipe at Annie.
Crossbow attack 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Miss.
Crossbow attack 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 Miss.

On the pirate ship, three pirates on fire try to douse the fires ignited on them by Phillips alchemist fire.
Ref save 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 Fail. Still on fire.
Ref save 2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 Saves.
Ref save 3: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 Fail. Still on fire.

While the last guy, fully involved, jumps overboard screaming to put out the fire.
This leaves Phillip in a temporary calm as every pirate around him is either unconscious or occupied trying to put out the fire on their clothes. Only one guys stands up when he succeeds.

Male Half-elf Sorc 3 / Rogue 3, HP: 34/34, AC: 18, Ref: +7, Fort: +2, Will: +5

Phillip uses the temporary lull to kick the nearby gangplank crossing to the Kraken into the ocean. He then runs toward the main mast to severe the ropes to the main sail and rigging.

Profession Sailor to recognize the right ropes: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Round 6___________

Below decks:
1d20 ⇒ 15
Again Rowyn twists aside to avoid the full stroke of Bryson's lightning, but she still takes damage. She looks awful; she has areas of skin either red or blackened, her hair shriveled, she staggers as if drunk, and one of her sleeves is actually on fire. But somehow, she's still up and fighting.
"Kill you..." she whispers through cracked lips.
Lunging forward, she stabs at Bryson again.
Bayonet Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24 Hit! for 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 piercing damage.

Ghirrak:
You inspect the infernal device. The acrid fumes of acid are clear enough, but you aren't sure of the device. It's sure to be bad though. Releasing this much acid against the ships hull would eat through the hull in no time. You think you have minutes at least though. Probably.
You need to make a Disable Device DC15 or an Intelligence check even higher to stop it.

Above decks:

Phillip takes the whole round to lever one of the assault gangplanks up and over the gunwales into the sea between the ships. Looking around for rigging to disable, he realizes that 90% of the pirate crew are over on the Kraken. Only a handful at the helm (80ft away), the Captain and the ballistae crew (30ft away) are left on the pirate ship itself. And the ballistae pirates are taking aim at Annie!

Dgrim is holding his own, even surrounded by pirates. He strikes one down roars his challenge to all around him. The rest of the Kraken's crew are holding a pocket behind Dgrim while most of the pirates overrun the bow or try to take Dgrim down. You can kind of see Spinnaker Jon on the quarterdeck hacking away at one of the heavy grapples.

Seeing her shaken, Bryson targets the horrible woman with the last of his lightning bolts.
Call Lightning 3d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1) = 6 DC 16

Female Human Cleric 6 {HP: 37 /37 AC: 21}

Seeing the preponderance of enemies is on the ship, Annie swoops down to cast prayer, bolstering her allies and lessening the abilities of her enemies.

Prayer: You bring special favor upon yourself and your allies while bringing disfavor to your enemies. You and each of your allies gain a +1 luck bonus on attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saves, and skill checks, while each of your foes takes a -1 penalty on such rolls. (40' radius from Annie, so it should cover most of the people on the upper deck, but it won't hit the guys on the other ship.

Annie keeps her eyes on the man aiming the ballista, but sees nothing much she can do about it except to brace for the blow and hope she can charm her way out of it.

Adoration: Domain ability acts as sanctuary against an attack - she's saving it for the ballista. DC 16 will save to successfully attack her.

Male Half-elf Sorc 3 / Rogue 3, HP: 34/34, AC: 18, Ref: +7, Fort: +2, Will: +5

Seeing the pirates take aim at Annie, Phillip lets out a whoop to draw their attention and then steps a bit closer before sending a thin ray of wintery frost flying toward the springs and strings on the big ballistae itself in an attempt to either disable the weapon or at least disrupt the pirates aim.

Ranged Touch to Hit Ballistae: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3

Round 7____________

Bryson Calls another lightning bolt...
Rowyn Ref save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
...but she can't avoid it this time and for a moment you can see her skeleton before she is blasted into ash which gently settles onto the area and Bryson's clothes.

Annie descends and casts Prayer, which seems to hearten your crew and demoralize the pirates; the aren't being forced back anymore.

Ghirrak continues to study the dangerous looking device in the bilge.

Phillip unleashes a Ray of Frost at a ballistae crewman, knowing it wouldn't do anything to the ballista itself. The pirate screams and clutches his hand.

[npc]Dgrim seems a whirlwind of destruction, wounding one pirate and cleaving another in half.

Spinnaker Jon starts to cut away a second grapple chain.

Enemies____________

Half a dozen pirates swarm Dgrim, but only manage a single hit for 5 points piercing damage.

The pirate captain swings across to the Kraken, booting Spinnaker Jon across the deck and away from the grapple chain.

The ballista captain roars with fury at Phillip and shouts 'The man that gets him, STAYS ALIVE!' before charging across to attack Phillip with two of his mates. A furious clash of swords erupts.
1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 6 - 1 = 19 Miss.
1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 5 - 1 = 22 Hit! for 1d6 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 - 1 = 6 slashing.
1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 5 - 1 = 21 Miss.

The ballista gunner shouts 'Wait!' before firing at Annie.
1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 8 - 1 = 22 Hit! for 6d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 1, 2, 4, 1) = 11 piercing damage.

Don't forget he has to make a DC 16 will save vs. Adoration, and 20% miss chance on ranged attacks from entropic shield, if he makes the save. :)

Ballisaeman will save: 1d20 ⇒ 2 Fail.
Completely besotted, the ballisaeman cannot target Annie. Searching for a new target he sees Phillip, but his crew captain is blocking his line of sight. He sees Dgrim, but he is almost buried in his fellow pirates. He spots Spinnaker Jon who is clear. He shoots and hits, dealing 6d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 6, 2, 3, 6) = 25 piercing damage and carrying Jon over the rail and into the water.

Male Half-elf Sorc 3 / Rogue 3, HP: 34/34, AC: 18, Ref: +7, Fort: +2, Will: +5

Wincing at the second pirates blow, Phillip looks for enough cover to keep at least one of the pirates from reaching or flanking him. He then tosses another bunch of colored sand into the air accompanied with arcane phrasing and a grim look. Quickly the sand swirls toward the pirates creating a bit of a distraction at the very least.

Five foot step to cover if possible.
Cast Color Spray

Round 8__________

At this point both Bryson and Ghirrak burst out on to the maindeck in the middle of the wild fight there as the pirates greater numbers pressed the crew of the Kraken back. Men were pressed shoulder to shoulder and it is difficult to move.
You all can see two of the three ship grapples and one of the assault gangplanks still holding the ships together. You can see Dgrim holding off no less than eight pirates by himself, and he hacks one down as you watch.
You see the enemy Captain climb up to your own ships quarterdeck, engaging the lone helmsman there.
Just to port, you see Annie dive into the water from yardarm height.
On the enemy ship, you can see Phillip cause a blaze of a Color Spray engulf an enemy ballistae crew attacking him.
Will save 1: 1d20 ⇒ 11 Unconscious.
Will save 2: 1d20 ⇒ 4 Unconscious.
Will save 3: 1d20 ⇒ 11 Unconscious.
Will save 4: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 Stunned and blinded.
And so the ballisa crew is effectively eliminated.

Phillip:
You see no one else on the pirate ship around you but for a couple of guys at the pirate helm.

Annie:
Diving underwater its getting hard to see with the sun so low on the horizon, but you see Jon bleeding ten feet underwater and a dim shape that might be a shark approaching maybe forty feet away from him.

Round 9___________________

Female Human Cleric 6 {HP: 37 /37 AC: 21}

Seeing Spinnaker Jon take a ballista bolt to the chest, Annie sacrifices her Lesser Restoration and turns it to Cure Moderate Wounds as she flies into the water. She tries desperately to touch Spinnaker Jon with the healing magic at her fingertips.

Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (3, 5) + 5 = 13

Ghirrak races across the ship, hurdling obstacles to get to Phillip, the man who was possibly the ship's only hope.

Spending 1 Ki point to add 20ft to speed, moving at full run. Speed now 60' run at 240ft per round

Male Half-elf Sorc 3 / Rogue 3, HP: 34/34, AC: 18, Ref: +7, Fort: +2, Will: +5

With a slightly surprised but satisfied looks, Phillip watches as the pirates fall before his mighty magic. Seeing the remaining two at the helm, he selects the one actually manning the wheel and sends a pair of sea-green energy bolts streaking toward the man.

As the missiles land he shouts to the two men, "Surrender yourselves now, or end up as food for the sharks! The choice is yours, but I'll not ask again."

Cast Magic Missile at Pirate 1 Damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 1) + 2 = 5
Intimidate: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Two big worker ants materialize and plunge into the melee as Bryson moves to the Portside rail.
Ghirrak runs up a ratline and across a boom to land behind the pirate lines, then he runs straight across the gangplank to arrive next to Phillip as he cooly fires magic darts to execute the pirate behind the wheel. (The other pirate there breaks and dives overboard.) There are nothing but pirate bodies around Phillip (except one blind and stumbling around).

Perception DC12:
It looks like five of the pirates noticed Ghirrak's evading the melee and have started to chase him across the gangplank.

Annie:
You control Jon's bleeding and start hauling his carcass to the surface. A large shark swims up near you and bumps you, inflicting 2hp damage. (You may take an AoO) It swims away, then starts turning back towards you.

Female Human Cleric 6 {HP: 37 /37 AC: 21}

Annie grits her teeth and focuses on pulling Jon to the surface so he can breathe. Antagonizing the shark seems like a very bad idea to her.

If she gets to the surface, Annie screams for a rope to be thrown to her.

Bryson gets to the side rail and tosses a rope (preferably a rope ladder) over it. "Just hold on, my love. I am here." Brysoon performs an incantation and handsign. Cast Speak with Animals

"Philip, there's a device on our ship lat looks like it's on some kind of mechanical timer set to release gallons of acid belowdecks. You're likely the best chance of disabling it. We need to get over there now!" Ghirrak says rapidly.

Round 10_____

Dgrim continues his vigorous defense, hacking down another pirate while missing another, and occupying the bulk of the pirate attackers while the crew of the Kraken defends the corner they were driven into to either side of him.

As Ghirrak talks to Phillip in front of the ballisae Captain (still blind and staggering about stunned), the five filthy pirates chasing Ghirrak thunder up over the gangplank behind them and attack with bloodcurdling cries and flashing cutlasses.
Pirate1 vs Ghirrak: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Pirate2 vs Ghirrak: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Pirate3 vs Ghirrak: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Pirate4 vs Phillip: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Pirate5 vs Phillip: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
All miss.

The ones surrounding Dgrim continue their assault.

Pirate8 vs Dgrim: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 2 = 22
Pirate9 vs Dgrim: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 2 = 15

Pirate11 vs Dgrim: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 2 = 17
Pirate12 vs Dgrim: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 2 = 12
Pirate13 vs Dgrim: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 2 = 18
All miss.

The pirate captain, having secured the helm, decides to break Dgrim's defensive bulwark and swings in to attack.
Pirate Captain vs Dgrim: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 12 + 2 = 19 And a miss of course.

As Annie breaks the surface, a rope lands in the water next to her as Bryson shouts encouragement.

Annie:
You can climb up to the deck this round if you abandon Jon. If you try to take him with you, you need to make a Climb check and the shark will get a bite.

Bryson:
You hear the sharks all shouting 'look its a feast!', 'oh boy!' 'smell that blood' 'just a little nibble' and 'this one's still moving!'etc...
You see one leasurely lining up an attack on Annie or maybe Jon next round.

Meanwhile, deep in the bowls of your ship, a mysterious mechanism slowly ticks away...

Ants: AC 15; HP 22; Mv 50 climb 20

Forgot about the worker ants last action. They will aid the crew and Dgrim.

Ant 1 Bite:
to hit 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Ant 2 Bite:

Probably misses anyway.

And again this round. Please adjust for any flanks.

Ant 1 Bite:
to hit 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 damage 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Ant 2 Bite:

Meanwhile Bryson yells in Shark-ese.

Spoiler:
"These are protected by Gozreh and you shall not have them."

He then targets the one lining up for a bite with his icicle bolt.

Annie tries to reach the rope. If she can, she will tie it around Jon, under his shoulders, and ask for help pulling him up. She is most concerned with keeping his head above water, and if she has the time, she will try to make sure he is breathing.

Let me know if you need Annie to roll for any of that.

"What?!" Exclaims Phillip as he fends off the pirates and hears Ghirrak's warning. "What device and where is it in the ship?"

Phillip lashes out at one of the closest pirates while Girrak answer, and then grabs the nearest rigging rope that could quickly help him get back across to the other ship.

Assuming there is a suitable rope, Phillip will attempt to swing back across to the ship and race for the device.

Now back to work…

Round 11__________

BRYSON_____
The ants frighten the pirates no end, but end up missing due only to bad luck. But with their help, the Savage Kraken sailors hold their line in the battle.
Brysons ice bolt actually penetrated the five feet of water to land a hit on Shark 1.

Sharkese:
"Ow, who bit me?" Shark 1 turns from Jon and Annie and towards Shark 2. "You! I bite you too!."

ANNIE________________________________________

Annie tries to reach the rope and finally grabs it! She wraps it around Spinnaker Jon.

Phillip Pharlan

________________________________________

Phillip lashes out at a pirate, slicing open a cheek and causing him to stumble back. He then grabs a line and swings across to the Savage Kraken, landing behind the lines. He immediately dives down the hatchway ladder below.

Ghirrak Ironfist

Ghirrak misses one pirate, but quickly downs two others.

(NPC) DGRIM
Dgrim lashes out and quickly downs two more pirates.

The pirate captain waives his men way from Dgrim and attacks him himself. His orcish tusked grin suggests that he intends to break the line of battle himself.

Meanwhile, Bryson speaks to the wood of the ship and his hands move as if sculpting clay. A portion of the ship changes shape to make Annie's climb easier. And begins to help pull them up.
Cast Wood Shape

DM Camris:
Up to 14 cubic feet can be affected. The most ideal thing would be to have the side of the ship open up and 'swallow' Annie and Spinnaker Jon. Otherwise, if possible, he'll make some steps or hand and footholds to make the climb easier.

Female Human Cleric 6 {HP: 37 /37 AC: 21}

Annie does her best to keep Jon's head above water and lift him to the ship. once she has a rope to secure him if she loses her grip, I think the smartest thing is to fly and try to pull him up. With 10 Strength, her heavy load is 100 lbs, she can (barely) lift up to 200 lbs, and she can push or drag up to 500 lbs.

Male Half-elf Sorc 3 / Rogue 3, HP: 34/34, AC: 18, Ref: +7, Fort: +2, Will: +5

Phillip curses softly as the smell from the bilge strikes his nostrils like a hammer blow. While trying to shrug off the stench of the lower deck, he conjures a small globe of aqua-green light and begins to rapidly search for the device Ghirrak had seen.
