Ten-Penny Tacey |

I have cold resist 2 due to trait, so I take 3 cold damage. Also I'm not tripped (go go ring of protection), due to CMD 21 (10 + 3 BAB + 2 strength + 5 Dex + 1 Deflection). It is still a nasty bite, and it is always a relief to see that a crit does not confirm.

Griffin Master |

okie dokie, took the trip 20 from the cmd listed on your char sheet online, sorry bout that. updated the map to the right hp and removed the orange box for prone.

Gondork Ramcleft |

Swift to increase movement to 40ft, double move towards the wolf 10p is in melee with.
Arwyn!! Try to keep that one in the back busy while me and ten-penny focus on this one! Giacomo, you too! Throw some rocks if you have to!

Ten-Penny Tacey |

No problem, you already have enough stats to keep track of, so don't worry
"Although I appreciate the effort Gondork, you aren't deaf. Giacomo asked you to stay a little closer to recieve support, moron!" Ten-Penny snarks.

Griffin Master |

after arwyn's action, presuming it doesn't bar this, the alpha wolf leaps past orm to flank ten-penny with the beta.

Gondork Ramcleft |

Woops, sorry. *facepalm*
Gondork ignores his party's pleas for tactics and replies:
I'm sorry, children's lives are at stake here! We have no time for elaborate magicks! Enlarge yourself instead! More arrows, less talking!

Giacomo Rumble |

If you move towards me this turn, you're still able to reach them next turn, right?
Also, enlarging myself won't do anything. Held items shrink when released, so still 1d6 arrows, and my to-hit takes a -2 from enlarging. >_> Unless Arwyn or Nadya's okay with being big, but I'm not sure about that.

Ten-Penny Tacey |

I think Nadya is the most eligible for Enlarge Person. Arwyn's arrow storm will take a serious hit to attack rolls, without increasing her damage output (arrows shrink back to normal size after leaving the bow...)

Arwyn Fynolt |

"Right!"
Hearing Gondork call out, Arwyn shifts aim to Wolf B.
dreyden kepp's mwk composite shortbow attack vs Wolf B: 1d20 + 9 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 9 + 2 - 2 = 13 for a possible 1d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 2 = 5 piercing damage.

Assuming these are Magical Beasts (favored enemy), if not, subtract 2 from attacks and damage.

Griffin Master |

yup, they're magical beasts . lucky you, unlucky nadya.
(5 dmg to Wolf B)

and dead
Nadya runs over to Orm, dropping her weapons and picking her up in her current she-giant hands and squeezing him hard. her voice extra gravelly from her distorted size
"Orm! Orm! Orm! Are you alright? Are you hurt?"
-- orm sobs
"Thank you, Thank you! " she says as you gather up your things and the bundle of firewood, heading back to camp as Nadya gradually shrinks back to medium size, still carrying little Orm.

Griffin Master |

back in camp, around the fire, the tents set up and dinner cooking, Orm stays much closer to his mother's side. He's unharmed, just traumatized a bit from being chased by the boreal wolves.
Your evening would be otherwise uneventful, except that you come back and start preparing dinner, only to find maggots in the provisions, the meat and tack have soured and everything is spoiled.
"I don't know what happened. I haven't seen anything since you left, Mjoli and I were fine. Nothing approached the camp." Says Caladan, backed up by Mjoli.
"Thats all of our food! We're still a ways off from Ellprin! We'll starve before we get there!" says and exhasperated Nadya, having checked over the provisions a third time. "Gone. Its all gone rotten. "

Ten-Penny Tacey |

Or "Purify Food and Drink"?
"Should we go back for those dead wolves...?" Ten-Penny asks, remembering her terrible survival skills. If it wasn't for Arwyn, she would also be lost in the woods...

Arwyn Fynolt |

Arwyn nodded.
"I'll go see if they are salvagable." She said, jumping up and grabbing her equipment.

Knowledge:Nature: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 2 = 27

Giacomo Rumble |

I have one use of Purify Food/Drink, which is a cubic foot per level. So if we gather everything together, it should work. But if this is a plot thing, I'm fine with it not working.
"Oh no, how could this have happened? It all seemed fine this morning. And Caladan, sadly I can't create food yet, I don't possess that much spellpower yet." Third-level spell, sadly.
Giacomo picks up a rotten biscuit and attempts to scrape off the mold with an arrowhead. Then his face lights up.
"I know, I've barely used this, so it might not work completely."
Giacomo gathers all the food into one heap, then casts Purify Food and Drink on the pile of food. He then dusts off the biscuit he was previously holding.
"See, you barely see the mold anymore. Good as new!"
It's through the Fey Magic trait. In a certain terrain specified at characrer creation (Cold) I get three cantrips and a Druid spell I can cast one a day. Purify happens to be one of them. It's cheese, I know, but it's the only way I could realibly have Endure Elements without immediately running out of spells.

Gondork Ramcleft |

Nice!
Gondork, severely disheartened at the sight of incomprehensibly spoiled food, grumpily sits down next to Caladan.
This is worse than that time I had to travel with a band of she-orcs through the badlands of Belzken... what are we going to do without food in this life-forsaken winter wonderland? Eat snow?
His face lights up at Giacomo's suggestion, and while the halfling is busy with the food he starts a lengthy monologue on sundering weapons and armor in combat towards Caladan.

Griffin Master |

Giacomo holds out his holy symbol (or whatever is necessary for the fey magic casting ) and blesses the food, purifying it, and for a second it looks edible again, then a black cloying miasma spreads out from the food, a dank odor rises, and the maggots once again crawl out of it. something is wrong.
there does indeed seem to be plot at work...
Arwyn returns shortly with the boral wolve's carcasses. there wasn't time enough for other creatures to find them, and the meat seems good if gamey. for tonight you eat like paupers, but at least you eat. the meat cooks up well and Nadya still manages to make a good stew out of it. there's enough to feed the sled dogs some scraps, but the horses and their oats were spoiled too, they're kinda hungry. You can feed them the meat, especially cooked, but fully feeding them would cut into what little you have.
there's enough meat on the three carcasses to last tonight and tomorrow, eating sparingly. after that you'll need to find some more food. You can forage and hunt while traveling, but it will halve your overland speed. To get food for 8 people ( will count it as 6 since two are kids and one's a halfling ) you'll need a DC 22 Survival check ( its not a pass/fail check. DC 10 means you do it for yourself, you can provide for one other person for every 2 by which you beat the DC. so to provide for 6, one hunter needs a DC 22. assists are possible. so it's doable to move at half speed for the rest of the journey and get by.
alternatively, you could push your overland rate, your on sled. even with tired horses, you could press on for a day of forced marching and heal as you go, hoping to reach the village soon.
you'll no doubt press on for the 5th day of travel, since you lose nothing. you've got that day of travel to discuss what to do on the 6th day: press on while starving, or forrage. if you've other ideas, go ahead and discuss. i'm just presenting the most readily available options.

Griffin Master |

the night passes uneventfully, keeping adroit watches, the food keeps overnight. you discuss your options more as you travel on the fifth day, pressing the horses a little as you go. You stop for a quick lunch/breakfast after a few hours of travelling, and push on to the evening. in the last hour or two of sunlight before dusk, you notice a strange formation in the snow, not far off your path. It almost looks like crumbling sections of snow covered walls, and piles of snow covered stones that might have once been houses. One seems still mostly intact and rather large, inside a curved walled area.
do you want to investigate?

Giacomo Rumble |

Giacomo proudly holds the cleaned biscuit in the air, then a new maggot pops out of it. Giacomo drops it in the snow in surprise.
"Euch, looks like the spell failed. I can try again tomorrow, if we don't mind the smell of rancid meat."
Giacomo won't mind hunting together with Arwyn. Don't have any ranks in it, so just a pure WIS check. I think rolling separately will mean better results, as anything above a 10 will mean I can feed more people as well, while if I roll to assist, I can only feed one more person. For instance, if I roll an 18, I can feed 5 people.
Survival for food: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Giacomo goes off hunting by himself, and returns with enough food to feed several other people as well.
Sweet, looks like I've already fed half the party by myself. If it can't be done untrained, disregard.
When nearing the houses.
"Look, houses! Maybe there's some food left! The rabbit I caught was tasty, but I would like to have some bread to go with it."

Arwyn Fynolt |

Arwyn looked darkly at her spoiled rations.
"This is no coincidence. Some enemy has found us."
She advocates pressing on using forced march as fast as possible.
When the houses come into view, she volunteers to go investigate.

Griffin Master |

Giacomo goes off hunting by himself, and returns with enough food to feed several other people as well.
for getting along in the wild you check once for 24 hours. so if you decide to hunt, the entire group will slow down for the whole day.
so with the 17, you take care of yourself, and three others. I guess i will have to count halflings as whole mouths, since you can provide for yourself. the kids can still count as one person together.
with the four dogs, and two horses, that's 7 people, 4 dogs, and 2 horses, we'll say 14 people units per day to find food for. Giacomo can take care of 4 of them on the first day you decide to hunt. ( its the 5th day of travel right now, and you've got food. so the 6th day would be the first you need to hunt. But I guess you want to hunt food today, for tomorrow, while you still have food. )
in that case you see the crumbling snow covered ruins the next morning, nothing eventful happens on day 5.
Giacomo +4 food units
nadya survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 +5 food units.
caladan: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 +6 food units
arwyn: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 +4 food units.
day 5 travelling, you slow down, but forrage enough food to last another day. depending on Arwyn's rolls and assist or roll from Gondork, you might get together enough food to last two days, which should be enough to get to your destination
Arwyn looked darkly at her spoiled rations.
"This is no coincidence. Some enemy has found us."
most definitely. it seems that way. though they're not striking directly. perhaps some foul magic from the white witches to hamper your progress.
On the morning of the 6th day, as you continue, you spot the houses
either way arwyn is going to investigate. anyone going with her?
This place was once a small town or village at some point, though most of the buildings are little more than piles of snow-covered stones, with crumbled sections of their walls rising from the ruins. The only structure that might offer temporary shelter appears to be a large edifice inside a walled circular yard with an arch at the entrance. The front door seems to have rotted away, but a smooth stone circle engraved with the outline of a butterfly is mounted above the archeway that still stands.
It looks like it might have once been a temple to Desna.
As you get closer, you see two people clearing the snow from the churchyard, dressed in robes and vestments of a desnan' design.
you notice this before you come into the churchyard, they're about thirty feet away from you, ten feet from the entrance to the old church. the churchyard is about 40 ft diameter circle in a low walled yard.

Ten-Penny Tacey |

I too vote for ration stocking. Even though I suck at it, I will give the tracking for food a go.
Ten-Penny sees the little halfling go into the woods to forage for food. The little guy is always so optimistic, but he does have a point. We already have nothing, and we can't get any less than that...

K. Arcana: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Gondork investigates the food, pinching a maggot between two fingers, before squishing it.
There seems to be some kind of curse effect, fouling your purification attempt, Giacomo. what the f$*@. This is powerful magic, and highly unnerving. What do we do without food?
He seems honestly scared at the thought of not having food. He decides to help the cleric to the best of his ability, but his hungry stomach prevents him from being of much use.
Survival: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Gondork goes with the ladies towards the temple ruins, silently observing.
Wasn't Desna the god of travel and stuff? Might ask if they have some food.

Griffin Master |

the curse appears to effect food creation purification. you'd guess its befouling his attempts to cleanse or would befoul his attempts to create food. the same thing that cursed giacomo is probably responsible for spoiling the food that you had in your posession at the time.
i heard two in favor of food stockpiling. so you slow down on the 5th day, gather as much food as you can ( roughly a day and a half's worth of provisions ), and continue on
so its on the morning of the 6th day that you come upon the ruins.
ten-penny crouches cautiously behind the ruined wall, and inwardly flinches a bit as Arwyn calls out to the two in the yard.
the two men wave in a friendly fashion, and call out, "Run along and play now!"
geography: you're in irrisen
nature: yes, its winter
perception: there's two gentlemen in rather old fashioned desnan robes. though in cultures that largely stay stagnant for hundreds of years, what really is out moded? But there do appear to only be two of them, judging from them and the tracks in the area.
stealth: you're calling out, foiling your attempt at stealth
track: yes, they've got tracks. they appear to be shovelling the snow from the past day or two and clearing the courtyard.

Arwyn Fynolt |

Arwyn paused, confused.
Run along and play now?
She looked around for who else they were talking to.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 2 = 13
She turned back to the two priestly types.
"Ah, I don't want to disturb you gentlemen in your affairs, but would you happen to know of anyplace herabouts that sells food? We can pay." She called out cautiously.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19

Griffin Master |

You pause, confused, looking around. Its clear from their mannerisms, that they were speaking directly to you. You don't see anyone else around. The rest of the group is about sixty feet back by the sled, having trailed you on your slight detour. Ten-penny still crouching behind the fence, watching with her white cloak and peering over the snow covered tumble-down walls of the courtyard.
The priests busily continue shoveling by the door.
do you want to get closer? everyone else comfortable with their relative position in the description?
"Food, don't worry child, you'll be okay. We've food enough plenty for you inside. You won't have to worry about food any more. Now run along and play with the others. We'll have a nice supper tonight. "
he makes a shrug to the other priest as if to say - silly kids - and goes back to shovelling.
