Featherfall is an immediate. Couldn't Xerath have cast it in himself mid full attack when it was looking like he might be getting dropped?
Sure, that's definitely a possibility :)
As for whether or not it looked like he might be dropped, I'll leave that to Xerath to decide (he was at just below half hp before the 50-point critical sting hit).
Of course, it's not like he's lacking in 1st-level slots, so it would definitely make sense to cast it, regardless of the likelihood of imminent death!
Then I will cast it.

On another note: Have any of you had a chance to playtest the new classes yet?
I’m going to be involved in one within a week or two.
I really wish they hadn’t gone so heavy with the new class features. I feel like a hybrid class shouldn’t go nuts with stuff the parent classes can’t do.
Swashbuckler and shaman are especially offensive. If they don’t get drastically reined in, they’ll likely be occupying my softban list.
Hm. My initial impression is sort of the opposite; I feel many of the classes should be separated further from their parent classes as opposed to using the same mechanics :)
I think this past weekend was a con weekend. Yahirma might have been busy with PFS-related stuffs.
Probably busy with developing scenarios, too, considering the blog post from just a few hours ago :)
Quite busy—I think I was in the office until about 11 pm last night trying to reach a particular milestone. I might be able to post something a little later this evening, now that I have a little breathing room.
Haha, now the Dm can chuckle evilly and rub his hands in glee at the impetuousness of his players.

You know, trivially spending a 520 gp wand-charge on a single temporary negative level (that would be removed with a night's sleep) shows the difference between low-level characters and 11th-level characters :)
Even a single negative level is a pretty serious penalty. Removing it is well worth a paltry 520 gold. =P
All good problems can be solved by throwing money at it, at least in a fantasy game.
If it is a FINAL fantasy game, you can even do it literally.
If you ever want Appario to fall, just have a succubus glue gold coins all over her body. ;)

Well, it's for a good cause! Appario had invested his hard-earned capital towards the success of the characters involved, and I didn't want to risk him being pushed into antipaladin-ness by the sheer shock of losing it :)
Besides, I don't think there was a clear consensus on what people wanted to do after this.. As I recall it, some wanted one AP, some wanted another, some were okay with mostly everything, etc.
Just because I don't want you to forget, and think you only have one option and/or that I'm forcing you in one direction: Don't forget that there's more to explore to the east, as well :)
(General disclaimer: Don't take this the wrong way and think I'm discouraging one path in favor of another! It's purely in case of faulty memory.)
