Examining the sandals, Henrik will cast Detect Magic and attempt to identify them. "Ooh, these are nice, I've been wanting a pair of these", he says. Unless anyone else objects He slips on the sandals, and wiggles his toes in them. "Comfy!"

Once we get to first full round action:
Henrik will move further into the room, and look at the layout of the tumor with the passages on either side. Don't want them to come at us from both sides... The gnome gestures toward the south side of the room, and casts a spell Silent Image, DC17 Will save if interacted with. Henrikuaxian draws a wand, calling on his own arcane guile to creat a false wall, cutting off an avenue for the undead to approach from. (Surprise round is only a single Move or Standard, while Round 1 is a full round, so I'm assuming you want to get the Wand out and then cast the Illusion, hoping it will allow you to use the wand from safety?).
I do not see any specific actions for Emma, Jarek, or Kaleena, so I moved them in a bit closer, assuming they arm themselves for what they might like to use. If we need to change this let me know.

Question. I have only been playing for about 6 months, sorry. Can I move on the diagonal around these pillars?

![]() |

Surprise Round
Jarek activates his fire blessing, causing his mace to burn bright with flames!

![]() |

Yes. So, moving diagonal counts as 1.5 worth of movement, but, unlike in most cases, it's actually sort of rounded down. That is to say the first 5ft square is worth 5ft of movement, and then the second, (and 4th, and 6th, etc. . .) costs 10ft.
-
So, lets say you wanted to, as an example, move 4 squares all diagonal. It would cost you 30ft worth of movement, (5ft <square 1>, +10ft <square 2>, +5ft <square 3>, +10ft <square 4>.)
-
Another thing to keep in mind is that "difficult terrain" can add to this even more, so if you where doing the same exact movement as above, but also happened to be climbing a staircase as you where doing it, <difficult terrain which normally costs 10ft of movement per 5ft square>, it would instead be something like (10ft <square 1>, +15ft <square 2>, +10ft <square 3>, +15ft <square 4>, for a total of 50ft.) However, only the actual squares of difficult terrain, or even moving diagonally count for this. Does that makes sense?

With your superior tactics it doesn't take you long to destroy the abominations. As the last one falls, you are left with an eerie silence, save for your own breath, and seeing the large tumor begin to slowly "heal" as it pulsates, almost as if mimicking a heartbeat.
From here, you have three options. At the far side of the room is a single close door. There is also the hidden spot you can investigate, now with time to take a better look easily spotting a hidden doorway. And finally, you could take some time to try to uncover the passageway that seems to have collapse. It might take a few hours, but you never know just what you might find beyond, or why it may have been collapsed.

I am interested in what may be hidden behind this false wall. What do you all think?

![]() |

I agree. Let thiss falssehood'ss shroud be torn.

![]() |

Beyond the secret door is a narrow set of steep stairs descending into darkness. After several dozen feet, the stairs end in a solid stone door carved to resemble an immense scowling face
The door is secured with a superior lock enchanted with arcane lock (Disable Device DC 50); beyond is the second level of Sevenfingers’s tomb—the Labyrinth of Hungry Ghosts—which is beyond the scope of this scenario, but just might allow further adventurers', or perhaps a later expedition the opportunity to explore this.

Obsessing over an evil does no good.
Strike or relent, do not dither.
There is a pulsating tumor still within this room.
Can thiss be harmed? Narayan asks his more learned friends.
Many of the evils here have terrible teeth, can we desstroy it without unleashing evil sspiritss?

Looking at the tumor, Henrik responds with some doubt on his face. "The thing regenerated pretty quickly from those things eating it before, and who knows how often that has happened. Not sure if much we could do would make a dent in it, but you never know."
The gnome then wanders over to the collapsed hallway. "I wonder what's behind door number 2?"
Out of curiosity, does the debris look like a quantity that would fit inside a 10ft cubed pit? Just sayin, I do have the ability to make a pit right underneath it in seconds...
