Avril Axiel |
The leader is on the map directly south of Roderick. Who are/aren't on the ground? Can Avril charge either of the two northern ones? What if Caith moves? I guess Cryxial can use this round to get in position, but what I can and can't do still isn't clear to me, are those roofs/corners blocking line of sight? For example if Cryxial moves 2n now, can Avril ride-by on 4 before Cryxial connects with 3? How much is that barricade blocking? How high is the roof? Can Avril reach the people on the edge with her lance?
Maldrek "el liberto" |
Roderick, in the eastmost part of the roof theres another token. But it´s a little blurred
As Roderick prepares he´s bomb, Maldrek casts a web over the archers on the roof. . DC 18 Reflex save to avoid be grappled. Circle drawn to show the web, also, even if part of the web goes toward the street I suppose it will only go about 5 feet down the wall
Your bombs can burn things, Roderick? Because my web can be burnt, preferabily with them inside
Caith Skullcrusher |
Caith looks up from what he was doing as an arrow impacts his armor, he slowly starts to turn his head in the direction he thinks the attack came from.........
Caith's not moving until a few enemies have taken their turns. He's pretty slow to react to the ambush it seems
Roderick Xim |
Now I can see her.
Roderick steps forward and hurls an electric bomb at the woman.
Bomb, range, pb: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 1 = 24 Shock dmg : 2d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2, 6) + 3 + 1 = 12 splash 6 elec dmg (DC14 for half). Dazzled d4 on hit
Avril Axiel |
Don't you need anchor points for Web Maldrek? Though maybe the edges of the roof works? Also, I'm going to assume charging through the barrier is impossible (but it might be possible to lance through). So Cryxial will just do a single move actoin
Cryxial moves forward, getting into position to charge once Avril has gotten on top of the situation.
DM Beckett |
two questions: 1) should the leader be visible on the map? I only see the 4 thugs. 2) are the two southern thugs on the roof or is one upa and one on the ground
1.) I'm not certain why she is not? I see her fine, but I can't say for anyone else. I did alter her "transparency" slightly to indicate the blurring effect, but it shouldn't be anywhere close to enough to make her picture not show up, so I don't know.
2.) Only the Mwangi woman and "Thug #1" are on the roof. #2 and #4 are both slightly around a corner in an alleyway, but on ground level, while #3 is standing atop the barricade itself, (which is only 5ft up).
Can Avril charge either of the two northern ones? What if Caith moves? I guess Cryxial can use this round to get in position, but what I can and can't do still isn't clear to me, are those roofs/corners blocking line of sight?
Essentially, #2, 3, and 4 came out of hiding, attacked, an then took a 5ft step back. #2 and #4, (in alleyway), so, from your original starting position, you would have had line of sight. This is where the complexity comes in. Only Cryxial could have charged as a Surprise Round Action (if you are limited, you can Charge as a Standard Action, but only move you speed), IF Cryxial has an attack with Reach. Avril would not have gotten the benefit or the attack, though, as she wouldn't be able to act yet.
Alternatively, you could both forgo the Surprise Round action and instead wait for both to be able to act and then Charge (if you can at that point). Or, you could have Cryxial move and just get into a better position now until your next turn. If you want to go this route, to where you are currently on the map, you have a clear path for charging to both #2 and #4, which you can now clearly see from your current location.
Being that you have already moved on the map, and I believe you aim to get a full charge, I'm going to assume that you want to opt to have Cryxial get into position now, and then on your Round 1 action both attack.
Cryxial seizes what advantage she can, moving into the opportune position while both Mal and Rod do their best to control the field.

One of the attackers on the roof struggles to free himself as does their leader, but only she is able to wiggle out of the web's bindings, and then step away to free herself from further exposure.
One of the other thugs, seeing this is no easy robbery as he had thought, draws another arrow and looses it at Avril, no longer intent on holding back, before himself steppinga bit further back into the alleyway.

and uses his speed to move in a circle motion in front of the thug in the ally way..hopefully distracting him and not blocking Avril's charge path (in case she goes for this one as well..and not one of the others) before slamming into the man with his whole body trying to knock him back, hoping to drive the sharp spikes which cover most of his body into the man as he tries to rush him further down the ally..scraping the mans face along the wall as he goes.

Avril Axiel |
"Stupid walls, preventing me to get at their leader this time." Avril mutters before charging into the alley after the thug who tried to get away. Cryxial's powerful muscles ripple under his scales as they move forward as one unit. Their telepathy keeping them in perfect sync. Avril's lance goes first, seeking to impale the man against the wall before Cryxial follows right after to rip him to shreds.

Both Caith and Avril utterly dismember their targets, leaving Cryxial a little disappointed that se didn't get a chance to sink her teeth or claws in, too.

Roderick decides to repeat a bomb attack despite the blurry target.
She is up there!

DM Beckett |
I don't believe that Thoril can charge unless he has reach.
DM Beckett |
Thoril moves a bit more behind cover and draws a wand to use on himself, as Mal and Roderick go on the offensive. Maldrek chants a few soft words and focuses a mental image on her weapon, his true target and suddenly a think layer of grease appears around the bow, causing her to drop it, and it tumbles down to land on the hard ground near Roderick. Roderick hurls a bomb charged with static electrical power that bursts just to her side, and again she is able to avoid most of it's discharge.

In a fury that her well-layed out plan has failed so much, the Mwangi woman screams at her warriors, "Fall back. It's not worth dying over!", and then turns to run herself while drawing a small potion from her belt. The one on the roof attempts to free himself again, but is just too caught in the powerful magic.

What's behind the building she is standing on? Can Avril loop around and attack her?
Thoril The Slayer |
sorry for delay I had last minute company this weekend. Are you giving me preference on wand?

DM Beckett |
What's behind the building she is standing on? Can Avril loop around and attack her?
It's some sort of random shop, (10ft tall), and it seems to have another street behind it, with the alleyway leading to it fairly easily. It might be possible to follow her, but there is a strongly likelihood with her distance, she might be able to slip into the crowd and vanish.
Are you giving me preference on wand?
I'm not sure what you mean? I didn't really see another valid action I'd think you would want to take on your turn, but if you would rather do something else, that is fine. (Enlarge is a Full Round action, so it hasn't actually happened yet until just before the start of your next turn).
Caith Skullcrusher |
I think he means he can choose which wand to use?"
Caith rushes around the corner and bashes into the barricade trying to bash it apart so he can get to the man standing on the other side
No clue what it would take to get to the other side of the barricade. For flavor I'd like to bash through head first..but jumping on some crates and just sort of climbing across is fine by me as well. Just in case I need a roll
1d20 ⇒ 3 bullrush would add an +15, climb would be a lot lower at +7 and a jump would be +3
Sort of assuming he will follow the woman's lead and run away..but if not and I make it to the other side and still have an action left
Possible attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
Piercing damage if hit: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Avril Axiel |
Avril rushes around the barricades, puts away her lance and gets out her hammer for a swing at the bandit there.
If reach is needed to attack from this side as well, use the lance instead obviously, +1 attack, but 1d8 instead of 2d6 damage. Cryxial has too far to move to attack
Hammertime: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22 damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 = 13
Roderick Xim |
Roderick waits for his chance to throw another bomb or chase down the leader.
Just posting to show I am still here
DM Beckett |
Sorry guys/gals for another delay. I was away (off post) the entire weekend and did not have my computer. Back now.
Caith bursts through the barricade to reach the last of the thugs on the ground, tackling him hard and stabbing into his flesh with his own armored skin as he drives his skull into the hard ground, while Avril bashes through the remainder of the barricade and ends the little man's life, (and torment) once and for all.

@ Thoril, according to the table Becket has provided us, only the ones on the roof: The entangled archer and the fleeing leader
Maldrek moves quickly toward the alley, not wanting the leader to run away, as he runs he says to his friends: Maybe you´ll want to catch one alive, to asks him some questions.
Please, move me back to my initial position
Seeing there´s only one enemy left, Maldrek unseaths his wand and attacks him to make his point clear before start talking.
Wand of magic missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
We can kill you easily as you keep struggling with the web. Or you can surrender and live to see another day. It´s your choice
DM Beckett |
@ Thoril, according to the table Becket has provided us, only the ones on the roof: The entangled archer and the fleeing leader
Sorry, that's correct. I just forgot to remove "thug 3".
Roderick's bomb smashes directly into her chest before unleashing a flash of mist filled with tiny lightning discharges, which seems to partially stun her for a moment before she can leap down and flee. But she still stands, just a bit out of it.

@ Maldrek - Oh, sorry, I wasn't sure if earlier you had meant to include an "If she is still up" option for more than just moving. She is beginning to look worse for wear, but isn't likely to fall with a single moderate hit.
@ Thoril - Still needing to know what wand you where wanting to use last round, if any. If you do want to go with Enlarge Person, you would now be Large Size.

No need of apologizes, all is right for me. Just one more thing; I can cast Deathwatch at will and it last 40 minutes, so if you don´t mind I´ll consider it to be "always on" unless there´s a reason against it (being wake up in the night, dispelled or whatever).

Sounds good. Just curious how you got it at will? That's pretty cool.
Thoril grows in size and moves in to smack the woman, hard with his large axe. She wobbles on her feet for just a moment, then falls to the hard ground below. It's not an easy fall, but you realize she still lives.
Up above, her sole remaining minion remains trapped still, allowing you ample time to climb up if needed. With a little aid, you are able to get her stable.
DM Beckett |
Sorry, I am assuming that the Mwangi woman fell unconscious while "someone" can easily apprehend the henchmen who is still caught in the web and surrenders. I'm assuming that both are now in your custody/care.
Roderick Xim |
Roderick will bind the woman and then tap her with a healing wand.
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
He looks around for an alley or alcove.
"Let us see what information she has to reveal. We may want to take her out of public view for this questioning.
Caith Skullcrusher |
Caith searches the woman for anything she could use against us (or could be of use to us) while Roderick binds her.
"Can someone get the other guys weapons (and other stuff)? "
As he sees Roderick pull out a wand to heal the woman
"Lad, wait with healing till we moved her. It will be easier that way"
He then picks up the tied woman and carries her over his shoulder till we reach a suitable interrogation spot where he drops her down and let's Roderick as the questions while he stands near by to lend "assistance" if needed.
Maldrek "el liberto" |
Maldrek unsheathes his wand of infernal healing to cure himself. Then she do as Caith suggested and loot the ambushers, giving everything he founds to the dwarf to carry it.
Roderick Xim |
Roderick nods to Caith and waits before healing the bound woman.
Aye, but let us make it quick. We cannot have her dying on us.
DM Beckett |
It's not to difficult to find a little, out of the way place for healing and questioning. Most of the crowd began to scatter as the attacks began, only kept going when they saw "explosions" of magic. Before healing her, you make sure to bind her and remove any weapons, potions, and defenses you can. Amongst her gear, you find a potion of cure light wounds, potion of invisibility, a +1 seeking arrow, mwk studded leather, mwk short sword, mwk composite shortbow with 40 arrows, antitoxin (2), thieves’ tools, and 41 gp.
Reposting the above: The woman returns to wakefulness, though only barely. She explains that her name is Ungala, a local. "Do you even know what you are transporting?” she implores. Stepping over to open one of the cargo crates, you find them loaded with statues and idols crafted in the native Bonuwat style. "I steal back the relics of my people, those that treasure hunters and smugglers mean to take and sell. There is hardly any bloodshed, and I simply sell those same relics back to our people, making enough money to get by and keeping such things here. Normally I hit the Aspis Consortium, but recently I discovered that House Cartahegn has begun to dip their fingers into robing my people of their history, too. Maybe, . . . maybe we can make some sort of deal?"
Roderick Xim |
Aye Caith, it is worth listening.
Turning back to the woman...
Please elaborate your concept of such a 'deal'. Keep in mind we are not committing to anything...but are willing to listen.
Thoril The Slayer |
"Agreed"

Avril helps with gathering together all the gear from all the bandits before joining up with the others. She simply nods her agreement to the others, willing to hear what the woman has to offer.
