Bruendor Cavescouter |

Bruendor rushes towards the drow, blade gleaming in the Echo's remembrance of the sun, and slashes the blade at his quarry. Rather than strike to kill, he tries to bind the indie's blade, attempting to wrench it from his foe's grasp.
Move to H23 and attempt a disarm.

Anklebiter dove forward, wincing at the pain in his back as he desperately tried to get away from the attacker. Calla moved forward to get a better shot as Lefrik tossed his javelin. The drow dodged the arrows, but took the javelin in his sword arm. The pain loosened his grip on the rapier, and Bruendor drove forward, slapping the blade to the ground. The drow backed away from the dwarf and with a grin that was surprisingly bright from beneath the cowled hood, he disappeared from sight.
Anklebiter takes 6 damage from the AoO.

Hang on, I already took AoO damage, didn't I? And what happened to my Ear-piercing scream?

Unable to pinpoint the enemy, Anklebiter moves a few steps to the left and releases a pulse of protective energy.
Anklebiter moves to K 23. Everyone but Calla take +2 deflection bonus to AC, courtesy of Protective Ward.

Bruendor snarls and rushes forward, blindly grabbing at where he believes the drow to be with his free hand. "Come on, stand still, you indy bastard!", he muttered, trying to grab the dark elf and hold him fast.
Move to H23 and attempt to grapple. The drow can make an AoO on me if he chooses, but I'm pretty sure that breaks his invisibility, so I'm not sure how interested he'll be in that. >:)

As Bruendor spotlighted the assailant's location, he charged forward. His grasping hands were batted aside, but he must have distracted the attacker, because Lefrik charged in with axe held low. The sharp blade swept upwards through the area where the invisible attacker stood, and the sound of pain and splatter of blood showed everyone how effective Lefrik's blow had been. As the sound of running footsteps echoed faintly in the entryway, Kelendra strolled over to pick up the fallen blade, a finely crafted rapier.
Combat over, for now. You can, of course, try and track him down and finish the job

Anklebiter the Insane |

"He can cast fireballs and turn invisible. That and he has a mean stab. I say pursue before he heals up and brings back friends."

DM Bigrin |

The trail leads quickly away from the observatory to a small cluster of buildings. There, the trail disappeared, leaving behind a smear of blood on a wall, and a small pouch. Inside the pouch is a half-dozen small gems, a signet ring, and a silver chain with a red sphere attached with a twist of silver wire. Other bits of wire depend from the chain, their stones having long since been removed.

Anklebiter the Insane |

"Is he trying to buy us off from tracking him down and killing him by leaving these gewgaws behind?" Anklebiter wonders. "Or... Wait. This might be a necklace of fireballs. What's left of one."

Kelendra Shae |

"It does seem strange that it would drop the pouch, I fear a trap lies ahead." Kel shifts slightly to keep Lefrik's large frame between her and the trail of blood.
or the trap is right in our hands, if he hits up with fire damage right now that bead might go off in AB's palm

Bruendor Cavescouter |

"That would explain how the bastard was able to blow us up and shiv AB all at the same time," Bruendor replies. "Kel, heal us up, and we'll poke around for him. If we don't find him, we resume our original plan. Keep the necklace someplace safe - Kel's right, one serious dousing of flame could set that thing off."
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27

Anklebiter the Insane |

"Let's tread carefully. The enemy knows we are here. There will be traps and guards."

DM Bigrin |

So, apparently I have been away from the forums for 3 days. Ouch. All I can say is I'm sorry. I had a work trip that I knew about but didn't think I'd have problems posting. I was so, so wrong.
The observatory seemed deserted. The scribe room where you had fought the babaus was now deserted. The only door that you hadn't yet checked led southwards, and it was unlocked. Bruendor's check indicated that it was not trapped, and he nodded to Lefrik.

The door creaked open with only a minor amount of noise, revealing the large chamber beyond. Forty-foot-high ceilings arch over a large room suitable for a ballroom or perhaps am exhibit hall. At the far side of the room is a balcony, perhaps ten or fifteen feet above the floor. The balcony looks out onto the city beyond through enormous windows, the same windows that Duchess had flown through the previous day.
Roosting on top of the balcony is the obvious source of the homunculus' demise. Green scales cover its powerful limbs and wings, and an oversized horn sits at the end of its snout. The dragon peered over the railing at you, a sickly green vapor curling from its nostrils.
Holy cow! Never seen rolls like that before.

Keledra tossed out some magical protection against the dragon's acid breath and Calla and Lefrik charged into the room. The barbarian took the stairs two and three at a time to get up on the balcony with the small dragon. Calla fired an arrow, but missed as the bulky form turned to face the barbarian.
