Las has to chukle at Thoril's action.
"Keep your head up halfling. I fear we'll have need of that earth breaker before the night is through."

![]() |

Looks like Yanbrel is the only one who can actually use them.
"Silly. Give it here."
The witch steps over and plucks the bracers from the box. He brushes off the shards of shattered vial and slips them on over his robe.
Yanbrel notices the cracked sword lying on the group.
"Madness followed acquisition of a sword." The owl clicks its beak.
"Agreed. Must be a coincidence. We should take it anyway."

![]() |

"I think perhaps the sword was locked away in a box for a reason. It certainly doesn't look serviceable, so keeping it in a chest or container of some sort would not diminish its use."

![]() |

The obligatory 1/table post on wrong alias.
heh. I was like who is Slagachok? And how is he a bard/inquisitor/witch at 1st level? :)

![]() |

No one really seems to be able to make much of the map, and some of your questions answered (those that could be), it is time to go.
So, exactly what is being done to watch/bind/etc. . . him? You where able to find a few candles, as well as a curtain to wrap the sword in if you wish. Can I get a general marching order, please.

![]() |

Las will go second to last.

![]() |

i can go first

![]() |

@Beckett - I put a harnass on him, with a lead. Should be strong enough to belay him if he goes down a crevasse. Or strong enough to act as a leash.
- Angruf chooses 3rd - it's my lucky number! But all three of us in the lead need to hang onto Kalkamedes' leash.

![]() |

Yanbrel will go last. Bracers of Armor temporarily added to sheet.
The witch squashes one of the pilfered candles onto the spike adorning the delirious Kalkamedes. He speaks a word and snaps his finger, and the wick ignites with a puff.
"No better hour to see where madness leads us."

![]() |

While the group is figuring out the marching order, Las performs his Caravan bond with the five other party members.

![]() |

I guess that puts Kargen 2nd? He can also carry the sword if no one else wants it.
The archer grabs onto the rope as Angruf ties the harness onto Kalkamedes. "If something happens, we should have one person dedicated to holding the rope. The others can try to deal with the threat, but if we lose the Paladin, it might all be lost. Angruf, perhaps you?"

![]() |

i would say tie around dwarf since he is unaffected by encumbrance if he were to fall but my character not that smart
-Posted with Wayfinder

![]() |

"I'll take responsibility for being tethered to him. But it's my responsibility - I make no guarantee of sacrificing myself for his benefit. If anyone is subject to later recriminations, I suggest they take the responsibility."
@Thoril - Thoril may not be that smart, but Angruf's wise enough to anticipate some problems... :)

![]() |

Moll puts out her pipe and gathers her things - a pack and a Guisarme, and joins the others in assembling. "I'll bring up the rear." she says.
Moll will take the last spot in the order. Good to have a bigger sack of HP in the rear of the order than the Witch. ;)

![]() |

Yanbrel will be 3rd to last, then. Speaking of going forth, sounds like we are ready. Marching order: Thoril, Kargen, Angruf, Yanbrel, Las, Moll. First three all have a hold on the rope, Kargen is schlepping the sword.

![]() |

The VC finally "sets him free", and he quickly stands and begins walking, his eyes closed. Kalkamedes obviously has neither knowledge nor regard for anything around him. Kalamedes totters out the door, and begins to head northward. The night sky The night sky is clear with a waning quarter crescent moon that provides dim light, but the minimal illumination is of no help to the sleepwalking Pathfinder, whose staggering gait propels him blindly forward with closed eyes.
About half an hour into the trek, Kalamedes stumbles on a rock, taking 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 damage, but without noticing, simply stands back up and continues on.

![]() |

Hey guys his ankle looks really bad. We should help him with it so he doesnt get hurt anymore.

![]() |

"Hmmm that's keen eye, master halfling. Someone hold him still while I take a look"
Take 10 on Heal = 18. If Thoril hasn't wrapped the angle, Las will. Also, how do we tell how many hps or hit dice this guy has?

![]() |

Heal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Kargen looks at the man's ankle, but he didn't see how had hurt it. He nods at Thoril. "Ok, let's see if we can hold him by the rope and enough for someone to wrap it. Or I have a wand if that's easier."
He grabs the rope and holds it, trying to restrain the Paladin's forward movement.
Some sort of check to hold him? Or automatic?

![]() |

"If we can just hold him back a brief moment while I", <puff puff>, "catch up to his long legs, then I'll do something about it."
Angruf catches up to Kalkamedes, and casts CLW on the somnambulant.
CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
"Well that was less effective than usual - I'll have to take a note that casting on the run, for the benefit of someone intent on running off into the night, is not an ideal circumstance for magical healing." <hrumph>

![]() |

"Was that really necessary?" Yanbrel tuts. "A peg leg would have made for quite the tale on his reawakening."

![]() |

Ill need a Grapple check. 1 for the CLW, but a total of three in a row to wrap the leg.

Moll drops her Guisarme and runs up to help hold Kalkamedes. "We'll have to keep a close eye on him so he doesn't impale himself on a branch or brain himself falling into a dry stream bed." she comments.
Grapple 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

![]() |

Grapple: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Grapple: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Grapple: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Kargen grabs the rope and then Kalkamedes himself to hold him for the others to heal his leg. He has a tight grip at first, but then the determined sleepwalker shifts and nearly walks out of the archer's grasp. He quickly grabs him again.

![]() |

Ok, hold up one second. Are you going t try to bind his leg (3 consecutive rounds), or is Angruf going to heal him (just one)?
Moll and Kargen manage to grab him, but he will fight back in his sleepwalking state. Are you dogpiling on him, or is one of you Aiding Another t Grapple him?

![]() |

Ok, just saw that Kargen will be in and out, so to move things on, he will Aid Moll in Grappling Kalkamedes.
The two advance on the field, alone against the demon. The fate of the world, countless generations resting in the balance. One calls on the power of their ring, but it is not enough. In such dire straights, they new it would be a gamble, but so much at stake, they had to try. They had to. As he comes in high, Moll, activating her ring goes in low. With their powers combined, . . . a miracle occurs, and Cpt Planet is called. ie They take down Kalkamedes.

![]() |

Las wraps the bad ankle.
Take 10 on Heal = 18

![]() |

Yanbrel taps his foot impatiently.
"How dull. If we're done fondling the poor fellow, let us continue on his way."

![]() |

Ill post a big update tonight. Can i get a Know Nature and Perception check please.
-Posted with Wayfinder

![]() |

Guidance before any checks that permit it, add +1.
Yanbrel, Know (nature): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Yanbrel, Perception: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 1 + 2 = 15 +3 more if sight-based check in low-light or darkness.
Goody: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19

![]() |

Knowledge, Nature: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

![]() |

After an hour of long travel, Kalkamedes suddenly turns right without warning heading directly into a massive natural thorn bush.
Kalamedes begins to head directly into the thorns.
Map is up. No init for this one, but it's going to sort of be a round by round deal, beginning with Kalkamedes attempting to push his way to the front (again) and walking through the difficult and dangerous terrain.

![]() |

![]() |

Yanbrel stops suddenly and taps Moll on the shoulder.
"Allowing him to walk through that razor bramble may cripple our charge enough to slow our pace to a pleasant stroll," the witch suggests, "as long as it doesn't kill him in the process." Goody bobs his head in agreement.
"The less masochistic, and especially the less unarmored among us may prefer to stay on the path."

![]() |

Las motions to the those in the front,
"Hold him while I discern if there is any magic at work here."
Las casts Detect Magic facing the direction that Las wants to travel.

![]() |

"Whoa. I just...'heard' is not the right word. I think I experienced what Kalkamedes is getting. Some mental communication. It was someone telling him to hurry. They asked for help but also insulted him."
-Posted with Wayfinder

![]() |

Go ahead and roll Grapple checks, or whatever checks you want to attempt to stop or divert him. And actually, rethinking this, I think I will go with Init.
Angruf: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Kargen: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Las L.: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Moll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Thoril: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Yanbrel: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Yanbrel
Moll
Angruf
Kargen
Thoril
Las

Shouldn't these be STR checks and not grapple? We've already got him tied up in a harness and it's just a question of whether he is stronger than the three people holding the rope. The intention is not to pin him down, just stop him from moving forward by holding the rope.
