Sounds like several creative options possibly Elsir, but all dependent on getting initiative. That's a tough gamble, but I could see why you might be willing to take it with your Diviner school bonuses...
EDIT: Silence has been my ace-card in anticipation of this fight from the get-go, but remember my initiative is d20+0...

Dang it!
Ok, I just wrote up and submitted a post on the gameplay, and, as I was clicking send, I realized that Akiros can't see Ghorraneaux at all!! Or to where she may have been looking!. Don't know if I would chose this oracle curse again, for, while it's neat thematically in some ways, it also seems to be more directly impactful on the game than many of the other curses and, most importantly, is kind o a pain in the ass to remember, RP-wise.
So, maybe he could glean some of this audibly? Or how do you want to handle it DM B? So I just rewrite that whole post and ignore what he's already done or said? Your call, I'm good with whatever.

Elsir has a web and I can recall one if needs be. The room is pretty damn big so it still wouldn't be enough to hold everyone.
Elsir did point out he could cast a silent image over the trigger point and the schmoes would have to make a will save to disbelieve before attempting to move into the square.
Elsir Tel’ran |
Crom's right.
I have several options.
I can:
A. Cast Haste while Verik casts Fly and touches one target.
B. Grease the 10' square around the trap.
C. Silent Image on top of the trap making it look like I conjured a steel cage over the trap. A bluff from someone would really help.
Those are my only options for denying / supporting the group. I am open to suggestions as I want to do whats best. If I had to make my own choice I would go with C.
Verik of Abadar |
Going to move and take that west-side position by the trap, and then cast a spell that makes sense relative to what's happening (could be offensive, could be a buff if I can affect most of us). Hopefully two of you can move to the north and east sides in addition to swift/standard actions (maybe Jemini and Akiros).
Celeador if you want to try Silent Image I'm sure we can talk it up in our actions - that's a pretty cool idea really. Unless you think you need to get some area denial/crowd control spell off first.
EDIT: Not a big deal but both Borodin and Jemini headed to the same square, so one of you just needs to make a slight correction and pick one of the other cardinal directions around the trap. Verik is slower than both of you so I'll just take up one that you leave open.

That's fine, Borodin can be at L11. It doesn't really matter.

Darn. Swing and a miss -- don't think Akiros' Intimidate lasted into Round 1, but man that was close. Oh well, Verik is in position on the west side of the "cage" trap square.
Khaladon |
Based on their previous positions, if a 'Y' formation is what was needed/ wouldn't it make more sense to Jem to go to L10 and Verik to J10 and Borodin to K12?
Still not completely sure now who is the real Ghorraneaux, Akiros is gonna Attack! heh heh
Verik of Abadar |
My thought was that we would have four around the trap/cage, one for each of the cardinal directions. K12, J11, L11 are covered, but the northern K10 is open, diagonally adjacent to Verik. Next rough we can verbalize and 5' Step or move of course. Nice attack and crit though.

Wow, that post took a long time to craft. There's a lot of stuff going on in this scene. It seems that the combined strategies are paying off. Only three of the hostages have gotten through the line of defense that you have created - and they can't piece the illusion easily. You've got the big problems of three disguised hags and an invisible boss headed your way.
DM Barcas |
Verik's been on top of healing all of you between fights. He does still have (as far as I know) 2 points of Dexterity damage. Verik healed him here, so he was down 3 hit points after that. I don't see a problem with Akiros having used his own CLW spell to get himself up to full hit points.
Verik of Abadar |
@Khaladon - since Akiros is hurt and grappled, Verik can get a channel out to help sustain him while going on the attack, excluding the two hags over there from healing. It would also help Jemini, Nikolai and perhaps the fallen captive in I15 if he's not already dead.
Elsir Tel’ran |
Shoot... this combat is *very* complex. I could reveal the hag, but by doing so I would have to drop the cage. I used a hero point this round so everyone is hasted, but I had to choose one person to exclude and I choose myself since the extra attack makes far more sense with Nikolai. Whenever is appropriate, I can alway See Invis and Glitterdust the hag, but thats a gamble.
Verik of Abadar |
I was just thinking perhaps next round that a hasted Verik and Borodin could each try to nonlethal two captives to unconsciousness. I mean they can't have too many hit points being in the condition they are, right?
Khaladon |
That's a good idea Verik, and the healing would definitely help Akiros.
Thanks for the Hasting Elsir, and his using see invis and glitterdust would be the only chance we'd have to see big G. Maybe another Hero Point?
Akiros is sure to burn through a few here as well.
Too bad Zander never stuck around, he'd be very helpful here! Unless he's already busy keeping the Minotaur occupied perhaps?
Verik of Abadar |
It's a very interesting fight so far to be sure. Not that we planned it this way, but it's currently three separate (and tough) 1v1 fights with Akiros, Nikolai and Jemini versus hags. With Verik, Borodin and Elsir holding down the captives and the trap, it's really close right now.
Thanks to Elsir's scroll of haste, I think for the next two rounds Verik and Borodin are going to have to be busy pummeling out charmed captives two at a time - if we can get that done it would free up Elsir to break his concentration and be able to cast his other spells, and maybe get Borodin directly into the fight. That means you three running solo hag fights are on your own for the next couple of rounds, with no channeling support (or we'll bring back the captives we're knocking out). I'll burn a 2nd Hero Point for Verik if I have to, but his options are limited while holding the line.
Rooting for all of ya!
P.S. a solo Zander vs. Tanghruun minotaur battle outside would indeed be epic!
Verik of Abadar |
Oh hey! And also, doesn't Akiros get an AoO first before that grapple comes into effect?
I think because the hag hit you with one or both claws she gets a free action grab attack per the monster rules...the rend factors in there somewhere as well due to that. Which stinks for Akiros as I know he's another two AC points down and also -2 to hit due to the Grapple, but hopefully the Bless and Haste counter that enough for you to get two solid attacks in with a bastard sword one-handed.
EDIT: Yeah, Grab(Ex) reference in the Paizo PRD - Universal Monster Rules under the Bestiaries section. No AoO if they hit with claw attack. Forget about trolls, hags are nasty there.
C'monnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn KEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNNNNN CRIT! :)
