Pssst! Chi!:
Serpentfolk are immune to mind-affecting magic. Plus, moving to E17 threatens an AoO from the skeleton that moved to D20 (it's not visible on the current map, but it moved there to attack Ambroze in Round Three.

I believe Gwen was stunned for Round Three.

Your Humble Narrator

Thought so, thanks.

Tun'ada I can't see your alignment listed anywhere on your profile can you list it somewhere for me, thanks.

I'm afraid Chi's evil eye will have to stand, I needed to update.

Naturalist (30 foot radius) (+1 AC vs Yarzoth, +1 to saves for spell-like abilities, +1 to attack rolls VS Yarzoth)
Prayer (40 foot radius) (+1 luck bonus to Yarzoth and allies attack rolls, damage, saves and skill checks, -1 to her enemies (all of YOU!)

Action-

Yarzoth finishes her spell and with a slow hissing sound a coiled snake appears, as big as a man and with a red tinge to its scales. Yarzoth whispers a word of power and carefully casts a spell, although she uses no somatic components. Marcus and Tun'ada find no gap in her defences to exploit as she casts swiftly. She moves with awe inspiring dexterity in dizzying acrobatic twirls and leaps that bring her clear of both Marcus and Tun'ada in mere moments. Fixed in her new position, Yarzoth casts another spell, this one much more complex and intricate than the one before. You feel no visible effect from her spell, but she smirks in satisfaction.

1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26 VS DC19 (Conc Check)

Spellcraft DC17:

She cast Grace...

Spellcraft DC18:

She cast Prayer...

Then, her new ally attacks Marcus. Lashing out with a nasty bite, the snake sinks its teeth into Marcus' leg, attempting to wrap itself around him and constrict; but the mercenary is able to extricate himself swiftly from the attempt to grapple him. The snake swiftly slithers in between Marcus and Tun'ada, threatening both of them and inadvertently causing it to be flanked.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 Attack
1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 Damage
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 CMB attempt for grapple (fail)

Male Human Fighter 5 50/50 hp 4hp nonlethal

Marcus ignores the snake, desperate to not let the serpent woman attack his friends. He pursues it through the blood trough.

Now to see if that point in acrobatics at level up makes a difference.

Acrobatics to avoid AOO 1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 2 - 1 = 11 (armour check -4 cancelled by + 4, heroism, prayer)

Assuming I don't get grappled move to E17.

Falcata vs Ieana 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 2 + 1 - 1 = 30 (power attack, heroism, naturalist, prayer)

1d8 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 (power attack)

Edit: Damage above missed -1 from prayer but possible crit!

Falcata vs Ieana 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 9 + 2 + 1 - 1 = 22 (power attack, heroism, naturalist, prayer)

2d8 + 20 ⇒ (4, 4) + 20 = 28 (power attack)

Edit 2: Maybe, just maybe. Suspect I shouldn't have power attacked. Again damage should be reduced.

Male Human Fighter 5 50/50 hp 4hp nonlethal

Damn knew I was forgetting something. Using acrobatics to move through a threatened square I move at half speed and thus can't attack. I'll convert the acrobatics to a jump check (or if you prefer make that the attack).

Female Elf Witch 3 (favoured) / Rogue 2 HPs 19/27

Seeing she can do nothing to hurt the serpent woman, Chi instead sees if she can help Tun'ada. She lets thought of calm and dreaminess seep into the mind of the snake attacking Tun'ada.

Hex sleep: against the snake....DC15 will save or fall asleep for 2 rounds.

Male Mwangi (Caldaru) Human Ranger 3 (Shapeshifter) / Barbarian 2

missed the -1 on the attack rolls, so Tun'ada's attack rolls should be 24, 21, 9

Female Human Oracle 4

I know I'm up, in order to move things along, can you just move me closer so that I get everyone in the area of effect, and cast Blass for me? I'll provide a more verbose description later...

Your Humble Narrator

Marcus i'm a little confused sorry, are you able to attack this turn? Do you provoke an AOO? Are you using the acrobatics check to jump over the blood trough? Do your attack rolls and damage include the prayer and if not can you give me a correct total?

Thanks Tun'ada, couldn't spot it on my look over of your sheet but I was rushed by girlfriend... Did you deduct 1 from damage as well from prayer on your attacks on the snake?

Chi:

Sorry if not letting you retcon that seemed harsh and thanks for taking it in your stride- I had been posting that long update since before I saw yours and Ambroze's posts (caught them on one of my final previews) and I was about to head out for most of the day, so I wasn't really in a position to sort it out before the update i'm afraid.

Gwen- will do when I get to your action myself :).

Gwen- will do when I get to your action myself :).

Sorry, I posted on the basis I could use acrobatics to avoid the AOO, move 20' and attack Ieana with a standard. Realised after I posted that didn't work as it cut my move to 10' and I couldn't do it even if I made a succesful jump check over the blood. If I can I'll suck up the AOO (and assuming a grab doesn't end my movement), jump the blood and attack. Attack rolls featured prayer, damage rolls did not. Sorry again totally not used to effects that reduce damage.

Nope, sure didn't. So the damage rolls should be 8, 8, 5

Your Humble Narrator

Marcus escapes from the snake unscathed, leaps across the blood trough and using the momentum of his leap, brings his falcata down in a vertical slash. Yarzoth tries to roll aside from the blow but is too slow despite her incredible reflexes.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Tun'ada slashes the snake with both of his claws, badly wounding it but not quite finishing it. Yarzoth is just able to bring her scaly arms up in time, slowing the blade's progress just enough to stop it from becoming a truly deadly blow; despite her efforts it still slashes into her shoulder, causing her to hiss in pain as she forces the deadly blade away.

Hit, no crit.

Gwenyth positions herself in D22, calling upon the Gods to bless her and her allies efforts against this powerful foe. The last remaining skeleton moves to E19, threatening both Chi and Ambroze; assaulting the former with both of its claws. Its brutal swipes bolstered by Yarzoth's magic, they cut deeply into the dodging Elf both times.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 Hit
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 Hit
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Ambroze is up.

Chi: Please belay your declared Round Five Sleep-hexing of the summoned snake, since that action wouldn't happen until after the action I'm about to take. I've got a job for you, my roguish friend...

Round Four:

Ambroze takes a step back from the skeleton and hums a merry tune while touching Chi's wrist. The elf suddenly disappears from view! All the while the gnome scholar continues to offer words of advice for battling the serpent woman.

If Chi is vanished, her actions are different, she won't do the hex thing. I'm assuming you want me to enlarge a fighter, as its the last proper spell she has. I'm tinking Tun'ada but it'll take a round longer, otherwise Marcus is in front of me. let me know which you whispered to me.

Your Humble Narrator

Even whispering, it seems very likely that Yarzoth will be able to hear you.

Female Human Oracle 4

This is the narrative of my round three action, as well as some additional information regarding life link activity.

Round 2:
As she reels from the cacophanous noise initiated by the foul lizardfolk, Gwen manages to smile as she contimues to bleed her life energy into her wounded companions.
Chi and Marcus, regain 5 HP each.

Round 3:
Gwen smiles at the small gnome scholar, and nods her head briskly in his direction in thanks for his healing. She steps forward, feeling the renewed life force ebbing out of her and again fueling Chi and Marcus. Raising her arms to the heavens, she resolves to call down the blessing of the gods one last time on her friends, that they may vanquish this evil even if she herself does not live to see it gone from the world.[i]

Celestial: The gods of Golarion are aligned against you, slave to the ancient past. You will not triumph this day!

Chi and Marcus, regain another 5HP each, for a total of 10HP regained over the last two rounds.

Move Action: Move to D-22.
Standard Action: Cast [i]Bless
(+1 to attack rolls and Saves vs. Fear Effects).
Immediate Action: Dismiss both life links.

Your Humble Narrator

Bump, are you waiting on me Chi?

Minor Correction: Ambroze's AC is 17 vs. Yarzoth (with Naturalist), 16 vs. the skeleton.

Female Elf Witch 3 (favoured) / Rogue 2 HPs 19/27

Chi disappears from view, she takes a small step to her left, and starts to say arcane words.

Stealth 1d20 + 14 + 20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 14 + 20 + 1 = 49 vanish + naturalist
Casting Enlarge...or probably not...

I know its probably useless to try and cast a full round spell against Yazoth but I think she'll try to stay invisible for a round or two so she might get an attack in herself, if she's still standing.

Sorry i didn't post more yesterday, but started to use HL editor to try and get my monster in it, kinda forgot about the rest of time ... as you do...

Action-

Yarzoth's summoned snake is badly wounded and faltering, apparently shocked by the animalistic ferocity of Tun'ada's attacks.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Yarzoth herself moves to D19, hissing in fury at Ambroze and the invisible Chi-

Whatever trick you have planned, you shall NOT SUCCEED! SMITE MY FOES, YDERSIUS!

Brandishing the holy symbol of the serpentfolk, headless deity Yarzoth seems to glow red for a moment as a pulse of negative energy extends from her body, affecting everything on the battlefield including her summoned snake, who dissipates into thin air as it returns to the realm it came from.

3d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 2) = 5 Damage (Will DC17 for 2 damage, failure= 5. Remember Prayer applies to your saving throw as a penalty and Chi will need to make a concentration check either way.)

Will 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 5 - 1 = 15 (prayer)

Marcus follows Ieana hacking with his falcata. Move to E,20 to block her way to Gwen somewhat and provide a flank for Tun'ada.

Chi is smitten with the destructive force from the snake woman, but with her enmity towards the priestess she holds her mind on the spell.

Concentration 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28 DC is 10+7+1, so for once the dice gods are smiling on the spell. Although the other-way round would have been better and worked just as well.

Might be a good idea for Ambroze to move unconscious bodies away from the snake lady, so she can't kill everyone...like Gwen, just a thought.

Female Human Oracle 4

Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

As she drops to her knees, Gwen manages to smirk, and utter:

Your god is weak. Sadly, I am spent...

Longbow damage 1d8 + 1d6 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (3) + (1) + 2 - 1 = 5 -1 dam Yarzoth prayer

Plus bless.

Your Humble Narrator

Tun'ada makes his way across the room, leaping across the room and slashing at Yarzoth with a claw. He manages to deal a shallow cut across her serpent-like neck, the claws not penetrating deepenough to do grievous damage to her. Angry, she directs her last skeleton to assault Tun'ada- the skeleton's right claw slashing across Tun'ada's chest while the left hits Tun'ada's own mid-swing and almost shatters.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 Crit threat
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 Critical hit
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 Miss
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

DC 17 Will Save: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 1 - 1 = 14 (includes Naturalist and Prayer; if Naturalist is not effective against channeled energy, then please subtract 1 from the total - EDIT: looks like it doesn't matter)

Round Five:

"I think there's something wrong with your holy symbol - it looks like the head is missing," Ambroze taunts Yarzoth.

Cloaked by his illusory doubles, the gnome scholar dashes past the skeleton, the serpent woman, and Marcus in order to tend to Gwen. Upon reaching the fallen oracle's side, Ambroze hums a quick tune and touches her shoulder to imbue her with healing energy. All the while he continues to offer words of advice for battling the serpent woman.

Move action 15 ft to E,21. The skeleton has already made an AoO against Marcus this round, so Ambroze's movement shouldn't provoke an AoO from that quarter. Yarzoth on the other hand is a different matter. However, Ambroze still has the 3 Mirror Images hovering around him; hopefully they'll deflect an AoO from the serpent woman. Standard action to cast Cure Light Wounds on Gwen. Free action to continue Bardic Performance (Naturalist).

Cure Light Wounds on Gwen: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Pitiful mammal, YOU I shall make into my next Thrall until you are BEGGING to be allowed to worship glorious Ydersius! Yarzoth says in cold, seething rage. As Ambroze passes her she channels that anger into a bite- a vicious, excruciating bite that utterly shatters one of Ambroze's images and could probably have finished him off if it hit...

Despite the grievous wound, Tun'ada barely keeps his feet thanks to Rage, but he can clearly feel Yarzoth's venomous teeth left some poison in his sytem...

1d20 + 19 ⇒ (6) + 19 = 25

Fort Save:1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 2 + 1 - 1 = 18 (heroism, naturalist, prayer)

All those bonuses and still failed....absolutely pathetic.

Your Humble Narrator

Tun'ada:

Its a horribly high DC, boosted by a higher con than she has as written (boosted her in a few ways for six of you).

1d2 ⇒ 2 Str damage

Male Human Fighter 5 50/50 hp 4hp nonlethal

Yes aware of both things. Its clear what she has up from previous rounds. If I change now its just because I'm uncertain about the roll so sticking with it, mistake or not.

Your Humble Narrator

Marcus tries to trip Yarzoth, and with a sly grin she even allows him to reach her. She sways aside from the attempted trip, bites Marcus hard in the neck with her venomous fangs, and with a flourish of her tail and a spin so fast she becomes almost a green blur, Marcus himself is tripped up instead.

1d20 + 19 ⇒ (16) + 19 = 35
1d6 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

Marcus:

See the spoilers to Tun'ada above for the effects of the poison, the DC and the damage. Two consec saves needed...

The above fluff describes the AOO and failed CMB test. Modified by her AOO, the roll ended up a 12- failing by ten or more, this means Marcus himself is tripped. Its not clear how strong she is but she's obviously incredibly quick.

Male Human Fighter 5 50/50 hp 4hp nonlethal

GM:

She has a 38CMB? Oh dear. Assume I can use the move action remaining to stand back up?

1d20 + 6 + 2 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 2 + 1 - 1 = 18 (heroism, naturalist?, prayer)

Your Humble Narrator

Marcus:

Not necessarily. All you know is she has at least 22; the damage you take during a CMB maneuver is applied as a penalty to your roll (so you ended up with a 12, thus she must have more than 22).

What is the roll for in your last post? Yeah you can stand back up :).

Free Action: 5-foot step to E-23.

Sorry, Talomyr - I tried. I really hope you don't die as a result of Paizo's ridiculously terrible 2d6 algorithm.

No problems. I don't want Tun'ada to die, but if he does it's just part of the game.

Your Humble Narrator

Tun'ada manages to tear holes in the serpentfolk's robes, his right claw slashing viciously across her back as she focuses on Marcus. Although many of Yarzoth's wounds are shallow, they are adding up. Blood leaks from several places on her own body.

Attack! Yarzoth screams, gesturing at Tun'ada to her skeleton. The skeleton obliges, one claw getting past Tun'ada's defences and almost finishing him off. Somehow, Tun'ada is still standing.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 Hit
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Round Six:

"You know, you were pretty as Ieana, but your scales are really quite beautiful," Ambroze says to Yarzoth, taking a step back to eye her critically as he quickly rummages in his pack.

"In fact, you'd make a stunning handbag and set of boots for the ladies," he adds as he tosses a ceramic flask at the serpent woman.

5 ft step back to square F,22. Move action to retrieve flask of Alchemist's Fire from pack. Standard action to throw Alchemist's Fire at Yarzoth (apologies for the splash damage, Marcus!). Free action to maintain Bardic Performance (Naturalist).

Toss Alchemist's Fire (ranged touch attack): 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 - 1 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 6 + 1 + 1 - 1 - 4 = 19 (naturalist, bless, anti-prayer, firing into melee - here's hoping that hits her touch AC!)
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4, plus another 1d6 next round if this attack hit.
Splash damage to all within 5 feet: 1 hp

Ambroze HP: 25/33
Ambroze AC: 16; 17 vs. Yarzoth
Active Effects: Mirror Image (2 illusory doubles remaining), Naturalist, Gwen's Bless (yay!), Yarzoth's Prayer (boo!)

Rounds of Bardic Performance used today: 10/19

Your Humble Narrator

Enraged by Ambroze's taunts, Yarzoth snarls viciously at the Gnome, her forked tongue and nasty set of teeth looking like they want to gnash Ambroze's head. The alchemist's fire looks sure to hit Yarzoth, but at the last moment it sails just over her head, a twist of luck working against Ambroze.

Miss due to prayer (Touch AC20!).

The flask lands in the river of blood, not shattering on impact but merely begins to be carried away by the flow of blood.

Chi is up.
