You resolve to either spend your time in deeper contemplation and study of the mysteries of Shimye-Magalla and seek wisdom in your faith, or attempt to use auguries and other divination magic to invite contact with other Outsiders who might have some knowledge of this place. Disseminating the motives, agendas and attitudes of such Outsiders would take formidable judgement, however.

Augury is, in fact, the only divination spell she has access to, and it's explicitly limited to the outcome of events taking place within the next thirty minutes. I don't think your flavor text matches up with the relevant mechanics. :P

Sovereign Court

Saw that comment coming from you even as I was writing it :). Don't you believe in the power of prayer? Shame on you, clergy :P.

But on a more serious note, for the purpose of this your narrative can assume some access to better divination scrolls. Assuming thats the path you want to take.

I figured he was using the term "auguries" as a generalized term describing various divination magic, and not specifically the Augury cleric/oracle spell. ;P

The point being that Tebati doesn't have access to any of that "various divination magic" at 3rd/4th level. You can't contact outsiders when you're limited to second-level spells.*

*:
Well, technically, I suppose she could use Summon Monster II to summon a lemure for 24 seconds each twice a day. Considering they're mindless, probably not a good plan for doing research. :P (Actually, I don't think she can even do that, since they're Lawful, which makes it a Lawful spell.)

I would have ignored mechanics in favor of flavor, personally. ;P

Well, the dice obviously side with the mechanics and think it's ridiculous that a 4th-level cleric should be able to command the attention of extraplanar beings. ;)

Male Human (Mwangi - Bas'o tribe) Barbarian (Brutal Pugilist archetype) 4

Well now at least Qhude's got more reasons to be self-doubting and introspective :P

... their fault really, he tried to warn 'em not to wake up the beasties... let's hope Unwe didn't get eaten...

Male Human

Why would you sell your mithral shirt for 550 gp and buy a new +1 mithral shirt for 2100 gp? From an economic standpoint it would be better to simply enchant the mithral shirt you have to +1 for 1000 gp.

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

Aha! That would be because I am an idiot. :7)

Thanks for the catch.

Resolving the narrative over the weekend.

Sovereign Court

Will be up by tonight. Been typing it for the last hour or two but I am being made to go for a walk :P.

Stupid fresh air. It burns us! We hates it, Bagginses! ;)

Sovereign Court

Exactly! Back now. By the way Tebati I wasn't certain which benefit you were taking?

The +2 to saving throws vs. evil subtype one. Seems bad form to seek protection against chaos when one has a chaotic aura oneself.

I love that Ansha's lookalike golem may try to kill her.

It may have to get in line. :P

On the other hand, it could be very cathartic for Qhude if it does turn against us and he gets to beat it to death. ;)

I love you people.

Male Human (Mwangi - Bas'o tribe) Barbarian (Brutal Pugilist archetype) 4

Oh Qhude had thought about that... but he's got a few other cathartic things he could do in the meantime...

That sounds ominous, somehow....

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

Be afraid, be very afraid....

AK: Jakob is also able to help re disease. +5 heal skill and two natural divinations/day to help with the rare higher DC. Also have we leveled and received our gear? Or is our gear on one of the missing caravans?

Sovereign Court

Sure thing :). Its all manageable for now (disease-wise) with Take 10's from the three of you.

You are fully levelled with new gear at this point. Adjust stat blocks please. Nice to see so many new posts! I'll be replying myself shortly.

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

And one more...

It does not matter now but if Jakob sticks with summoning as a concern then he will want Augment summoning to get more use out of his natural allies. Could I talk you out of requiring the Spell focus:conjuration feat as a requirement? The cleric list is not overfull of conjuration spells that require a save.

Augmented Giant Frogs for the win! Ok they are actually rather pathetic but an oracle can dream.....

Sovereign Court

Afraid not. Summons are incredibly powerful in PF and Spell Focus (Conjuration) is a good feat tax to my mind.

I'll allow you to switch out Lightning Reflexes for Spell Focus (Conjuration) if you wish in order to get it sooner.

Did we lose N'bellocq again? I don't think he's posted anywhere in like a week.

Sovereign Court

I'll bot him tomorrow if needed.

Done and done. Goodbye Ref save

Augmented Giant frogs here I come. And hey the spell focus makes my cure spells that little bit nastier to undead so all good.

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

Cool.
I just realized that the nature Oracle is the only Paizo non-prestige class to get access to both Summon monster and Summon Natures Ally. I am not sure how useful this is but it is something to think about.

I call shenanigans!

Technically, wizards and sorcerers can use Wish/Limited Wish and clerics (and druids?) can use Miracle to cast Summon Nature's Ally...but why would we want to? It'd be a pretty expensive workaround to casting SNA.

You just don't want Jakob summoning 1d3+1 celestial augmented glowing tiny monkeys. I'm just sad he can't manage the Froghemoth.

hmmmm that reminds me need a wand on Speak with Animals. Pity there is no ring or cheap staff Jakob could use.

EDIT. Scratch the wand idea. The dc on the umd check is at least 3 levels out of reach.

OTHER EDIT. and I seriously doubt AK would price a Ring of Speak With Animals at {Druid1xCL1x2ooogp} 2k

Male Human (Ijo) Monk 4 (Zen Archer)

shoot. No I am here....trying to keep up pace. Work is burying me this week, but in a good way, as good things are happening here, that help with recent situations.

I have N'bellocq leveled up in HeroLab, I just need to import it.

Glad to hear things are going better! I was starting to worry.

Out of curiosity, when did elves lose their ability to automatically roll to detect a secret door? It's there in the 3.5 SRD, so did they drop that for PFRPG?

Sovereign Court

Yup

Pff. I was robbed!

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

Not to mention the whole super-stealthy if x feet from the rest of the party bit. Elves and halflings lost out there.

And the surprise round thing from 2e....

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

not to mention the +1 with long swords and longbows.

Non-martial characters kinda got better than that one by non-fighters getting proficiencies with those weapons, though. Before, an elf wizard gained a +1 with long and short bows and swords, but still took a -5 (I think?) penalty for being nonproficient, for a net penalty of -4.

Martial elf characters did take a hit though.

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

It also meant that there was a reason for Elf fighter types to use something other than sword and bow. Not much of a reason mind you (AD&D and it's children have real weapon damage issues) but at least the spear armed elf was no longer leaving a +1 on the table.

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

Oh Hey AK! Can Jakob summon the Ice, Magma, Lightning, and Mud elementals from Bestiary 2? Don't see him stepping beyond animals very often, that +5 to all saves is hard to walk away from, but options are good.

Ansha wrote:
Sooooo much distrust in this group!

Surely not a surprise though?

To be honest though most of the distrust stems from Qhude, which is probably as it should be - superstitious barbarian and all.

No, not really a surprise. I think it just got forgotten in the months since we last had an IC conflict (which also centered on Ansha).

I'm just still trying to figure out how Ansha can win enough trust from him that he stops shooting her plots down before they get off the ground. It makes me feel like I'm not playing Ansha right that she can't seem to win certain people over. But maybe that's not possible when Qhude is so suspicious of what Ansha is.

Then again, Tebati seems to distrust Ansha too. The others don't seem to mind that Ansha messes with people's heads for fun, or at least they're less vocal about it than the other two.

Male Human (Mwangi - Bas'o tribe) Barbarian (Brutal Pugilist archetype) 4

Qhude has a long memory :P

The easiest way to think of Qhude is like a big petulant and violent child. He's very honor focused to a degree, and his pride is the one that Jakob keeps rubbing up against like sandpaper.

For Ansha it's the combination of her cowardice/pragmatism with respect to the elf back in Freehold and her relative shiftiness compared to his I AM SHOUTING IN ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME DIPLOMACY

Personal freedom (of heart and mind) is big to him also, so the thought of Ansha using magical charms to force friendship is anathema.

That said, I've no issues with the conflict remaining and it isn't coloring his actions o'ermuch now anyhow.

Ansha wrote:

While Tebati is mostly just amused/bemused when Ansha uses her enchantments on colonials, she is very protective of her fellow Mwangi: They've lost enough self-determination without having their free will impaired as well.

I try to play Tebati as wanting to like Ansha despite disapproving of some of the things she does. Of course, there is a bit of jealousy getting in the way that is not helped when Ansha parades naked copies of herself in front of Kieran and everyone. ;P

nope don't mind at all.

Note: iron will, improved iron will, protection from chaos, magic circle against chaos, fresh entrails for Natural Divination...

...You would not be the first person to at least partially build their character around defeating Ansha's ability to charm them. >_>;

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

Hmph now I understand the utility of the nature oracle capstone. Plants tend to be immune to enchantments. Not that it will ever matter.
