N'bellocq was at 14/19 at the end of the skirmish with the patrol outside of the Bandu camp, and he used a potion to heal for 8 just prior to their honor duel. I don't believe he was injured in that duel, so he should still be fully healed.
Thanks. I thought he had some leftover damage from the caravan attack, but I didn't remember whether he had used a potion. Gives Tebati an extra 1st-level spell to convert. I guess Qhude prefers getting sewed up with no anesthetic by Unwe. Honestly, I'm amazed he doesn't worship Zon-Kuthon. ;P

Thanks for the well wishes, have a brief period of quiet at home with our 3 year old while my wife's sister is on duty at the hospital.
Our wee one was born in the early hours this morning and both mum and bub are resting up and doing fine. Unfortunately a C-sect so recovery will be a bit longer, but have family in town to help out which will make it alot easier as we run shifts at hospital helping out.
Obviously will still be a few days before brain is rested enough and have adequate time to make sense of anything, but wanted to let y'all know that the delivery went fine.

Safely ensconced back home and settling in. Bub is currently curled up like a peanut asleep on dear wife's chest.
So I'm happy to say that Qhude is back and ready for action once more. Might still be a bit spotty at times for a while yet, but will endeavor to get a post a day in from now on.

Au contraire - the lion was actually felled by Ansha, so Qhude didn't take a scar from it.
Wry smile unchanged he replies "You should tell Ansha you think her a mighty warrior, as it was she who passed the mbube from this world.... If it was by my hand there would be a second crease upon my chest."
So the only honor scar Qhude has inflicted upon himself is the one from the big guy with the earthbreaker.

New house rule- A character earns a single re-roll for remembering his or her birthday and noting the age change on the game day itself or shortly after. This is a nice incentive for you to keep track of such things. The re-roll must be spent in the next game month.
I believe Jakob's is the first IC birthday we've had, but if i'm mistaken i'll allow others to claim their re-roll too.
Also, hope the town description wasn't too boring/verbose. Its hard to find a sweet spot between a nice description, technical accuracy and casting Deep Slumber on my players.

Right- many of you might not be familiar with the settlement rules from the Gamemastery Guide. So, the six modifiers you need to bear in mind (and their respective values for Freehold) when interacting with the town and its inhabitants are-
Corruption +0, Crime +0, Economy +1, Law -3, Lore -2, Society +5
Note this is essentially player knowledge, though as you spend time in Freehold the modifiers should hopefully reflect in my description.
I'll add a link to the bottom of this post to the respective page on D20PF, but without further ado, what these modifiers mean to you as a player-
Corruption: Corruption measures how open a settlement's officials are to bribes, how honest its citizens are, and how likely anyone in town is to report a crime. Low corruption indicates a high level of civic honesty. A settlement's corruption modifies all Bluff checks made against city officials or guards and all Stealth checks made outside (but not inside buildings or underground).
Crime: Crime is a measure of a settlement's lawlessness. A settlement with a low crime modifier is relatively safe, with violent crimes being rare or even unknown, while a settlement with a high crime modifier is likely to have A powerful thieves' guild and a significant problem with violence. The atmosphere generated by a settlement's crime level applies as a modifier on Sense Motive checks to avoid being bluffed and to Sleight of Hand checks made to pick pockets.
Economy: A settlement's economy modifier indicates the health of its trade and the wealth of its successful citizens. A low economy modifier doesn't automatically mean the town is beset with poverty—it could merely indicate A town with little trade or one that is relatively self-sufficient. Towns with high economy modifiers always have large markets and many shops. A settlement's economy helps its citizens make money, and thus it applies as a modifier on all Craft, Perform, and Profession checks made to generate income.
Law: Law measures how strict a settlement's laws and edicts are. A settlement with a low law modifier isn't necessarily crime-ridden—in fact, A low law modifier usually indicates that the town simply has little need for protection since crime is so rare. A high law modifier means the settlement's guards are particularly alert, vigilant, and well-organized. The more lawful A town is, the more timidly its citizens tend to respond to shows of force. A settlement's law modifier applies on Intimidate checks made to force an opponent to act friendly, Diplomacy checks against government officials, or Diplomacy checks made to call on the city guard (see sidebar).
Lore: A settlement's lore modifier measures not only how willing the citizens are to chat and talk with visitors, but also how available and accessible its libraries and sages are. A low lore modifier doesn't mean the settlement's citizens are idiots, just that they're close-mouthed or simply lack knowledge resources. A settlement's lore modifier applies on Diplomacy checks made to gather information and Knowledge checks made using the city's resources to do research when using a library.
Society: Society measures how open-minded and civilized A settlement's citizens are. A low society modifier might mean many of the citizens harbor prejudices or are overly suspicious of out-of-towners. A high society modifier means that citizens are used to diversity and unusual visitors and that they respond better to well-spoken attempts at conversation. A settlement's society modifier applies on all Disguise checks, as well as on Diplomacy checks made to alter the attitude of any non-government official.

If this looks a little complex or intimidating for anyone, I can handle it on my end if that is people's preferences.

Suddenly the scenes from Tim Burton's Willy Wonka are running through my mind with Willy tasting his first chocolate that he rescued from the fireplace. N'bellocq would have never had candy or sweets apart from dried fruits. I think a weakness has been exposed.
Well honey and sweet herbs as well but they do not pack the punch of refined sugar.

T minus 15 posts or so to the 2,000th... will DM AK claim it as his own or shall one of his intrepid explorers get a little bit more scaly...
Also, on the subject of Willy Wonka - I thought it most amusing when I re-watched the old school version and they had a then and now for all the child actors. Most of them had changed immensely and gone on to be buisness people in their own right... except poor old Augustus Gloop.
Before Shot aaaand After Shot.... eerily similar...

Hope you don't mind a bit of advertising here AK
Hello all. The Carrion Cown game I am in is looking for a couple of players. We are just starting out so you haven't missed more than a couple of encounters. If you are interested please see the Recruitment, Gameplay, and Discussion threads. Thank you for your time.
We now return you to The Streets of Freehold currently in progress.

Not a problem PWO. Actually, I might pitch a character if the DM doesn't mind that i've played some of the 1st chapter before and ran a fair amount of the first floor in my own Carrion Crown PbP before. I am not, however, familiar with the meta-plot :).
That and i'd like to know what sources are available.

Thanks and please feel free to pitch. The bit of advanced knowledge will not be a problem.
The Gm is limiting it to Core & APG but he/she is MUCH more flexible than the thread makes him/her out to be. Provide a good backstory and pretty much anything not third party goes and even third party might have a chance. With the caveat that guns are rare at best. That restriction is pretty solid. The real key is a solid backstory and a commitment to seeing the AP through.

I note that Ultimate Magic is out--I take it a magus is a no-go, then? I have an elven magus from a play-by-email Carrion Crown game that died a year ago still percolating in my head. Essentially, she's an agent of Kyonin who keeps tabs on the Whispering Way and the Whispering Tyrant. It was the connection to the Whispering Way that led her to meet and befriend the Professor, and ultimately ties her to the campaign.

Rats. Sorry i missed this Ansha. Apps are technically closed but if you can post a background and the answers to the questions in the first post and highlight any non-Core/APG content that is vital to the concept and get it up pretty much now then I can squeeze you in.
Note Magus should not be an issue one was already approved. However I must warn you that 2 of the 3 current players are mixed Arcane casters, Bard and Summoner, so another mixed arcane like the magus starts with a strike against it.
| Jakob Mulle |
Nah, don't worry about it. Just got to a computer that I could do that from, anyway.
I feel horrid, I'm sorry. Also I am rather fearful about how exactly Ansha will take her revenge for my error.
I can still hold it open for you if you like Ther are a couple of folks taking their time getting everything together.
| Jakob Mulle |
No, really, it's okay! Or if you want to hold it open for me, I can try to get it done in a little bit. I'm about to go pick up dinner though, so it'll be a few.
Gm is off for the night so you have a bit. Try to use as little non-core/APG stuff as you can. It will speed things up.
AAAAIIIIEEE just spent $1500 US on plane tickets. This kind of outflow is not usual for me.
