Ruperta lays her hands on the wall, ignoring the biting and stinging flies, and concentrates, knowing that it is only the grace of her goddess that allows her to use this ability in such a distracting time! She seems a small room beyond. Several open trunks spill piles of books across this dusty room. Stacks of tomes, some apparently quite old, stand in orderly stacks and haphazard heaps, surrounding nearly every foot of floor space except for an elegant black-canopied bed. Try as she might, though, she sees no way in.

Paxs' archon sends aid to Ruperta, and while Slumper's mastery of the sword is evident, he barely seems to phase the swarm, which does not seem affected by his swings! Sorry, man! Those were some great swings, but...

The burning elementals put an end to the swarm, finally burning away enough that the cohesion of the whole is lost. Slumper checks the wall, but to no avail; he just can't seem to find a way in.

Pai drinks one of her potions of Cure Light Wounds, fearful of what else might be hiding in this awful place. "What have they done to these innocent people," she says out loud, looking at the spot the man used to be at before being turned into the swarm monstrosity.

The two elementals surge forward and try to drill a hole using burrow, but the stone resists. Instead they slide into the stone like fish into water and in a few moments, a section of the stone slides soundlessly aside, revealing a small room that Ruperta glimpsed earlier. "Oooo, you guys find him. I'm checking out these books," Pai happily chirped, moving right up to the stacks, and casting Detect Magic before examining several of the volumes.

Nothing in the stacks of books glows magical. The books appear to be in several languages, but the ones you can read are old and brittle and seem to involve the nature of blood and disease and the humors of the body. You also see a small golden locket with an illegible inscription on it.

As Ruperta heals and Pai examines the books, Corbyn is first to the bed. He looks under it, then exclaims as he pulls back the covers to reveal a coffin hidden within the bed frame, designed to look exactly like a bed if the viewer isn't examining it closely. The coffin is made of a dark wood and is ornate.

One of the cases that Pai is examining turns out to be locked with an ornate lock decorated with a silver gryphon pattern. Whatever is inside rattles slightly with the tinkling sound of glass.

When the coffin lid is opened, the nosferatu lies within, his hands crossed at his chest, his eyes closed and still. Dirt lines the floor of the coffin he lays in, and the odor of age permeates the casket.

Ruperta looks at the Nosferatu and her face changes from revulsion to pity. Without taking her holy symbol away she reaches for his cheek and caresses it gently.
"Have peace and rest at last. Be free."

Ruperta, Nosferatu are like most vampires; they can be killed with a stake, decapitated or exposed to sunlight. However full immersion in running water will also destroy them permanently.

The vampire burns with a smell that clots your nose and sticks to your clothing, a greasy smell. Before long there is little more than ashes and small bits of flesh and bone remaining of the coffin and vampire. In the ashes only a few things remain: a ring that still shines and some antique looking jewelry. The ring detects as magical.

Spellcraft DC 20:
The ring is a ring of protection +2.
