Jakthion finally rouses himself as he sees the half-orc bear down on Catcher. He lunges forward, managing to pierce the thug's hide.


Feel free to pick a manoeuvre, Jaktheon - he can't defend, so he automatically fails his parry, giving you an automatic combat manoeuvre. I'll post properly once I know what you're doing, so I can summarise what's basically happened in the first few seconds of combat.

Okay, I am completely new to this. I just looked up combat and maneuvers, so I think I will Impale and choose to withdraw my rapier as well. If I understand what I am doing, it should be thus:

2nd of two damage rolls: 1d8 ⇒ 4

I will choose to take the second roll of 4 damage instead of the first roll in my previous post.

I spend a second combat action to withdraw my blade. and make a Brawn check.

Brawn 31%: 1d100 ⇒ 38

Okay, that didn't work, so my blade is stuck inside the half-orc.

Seizing the opportunity to lay into the half-orc as he's being ganged up on, Balian wails some more.

Sorry to keep you all waiting - minor computer niggles...

The half orc charged down the stairs, as Catcher charged to meet him. She took a swing at him and missed, losing her weapon at the same time. He took a swing at her in turn, which she just barely dived out of the way of.

Balian, right behind her, took a swing himself, dealing a nasty blow that broke ribs. Do-Waya stuck a spear into the half orc's weapon arm, not hard enough to cause any real damage, but hard enough to cause him to drop his mace.

At the end of the first lot of actions, Jakthion stuck a rapier straight through his chest, and tried but failed to pull it out.

At the beginning of the second, Balian swung once more at the half orc; this time hitting him square in the face, causing an open wound. He collapses to the ground, unconscious.

As the fight ends, an incredulous sounding voice, probably from a girl, says, "Dad?!"

Balian:
Yes, it's your daughter.

The fight's over, and he's unconscious. Anyone feeling less than merciful may feel free to finish him off.

Balkan drops his sword and shield and immediately scoops the source of the voice up, his words choked out. His demeanor is completely changed from before, his usual calm replaced by gushing of emotion.

It's ok, I'm here. We're going to get you out of here and Lamm isn't going to hurt anyone else. I've been so worried about you.

She's safe. Gods be praised she's safe.

"Is everyone okay? Did anyone else take an injury?" Without really waiting for a response, Jarl moves to the half-orc and moves to provide life-saving first aid (if required), but he's not looking to revive the big fella.

I'm guessing a First Aid roll is called for, but I want to verify that I can do what I described, trying to save his life without trying to get him back up and ready to fight again. Not burning expendables as evidence of how limited the intended aid is.

Catcher stands, not looking at the children. She walks to her sword and pick it up, then she go to Giggles and search him, removing his armor weapon and everything else he has.

After that she will ask anyone for a rope and bound the half-orc.

"Wake him, so we can ask questions, but..." she look at the children and says "Giggles is not living past today. He will pay for everything he has done to me and to the other children."

Marada turns her face away from the reunion before her, memories of her own lost family flooding back. Pushing away the past, she steels herself and help Catcher remove Giggle's possessions and secure his limbs.


How does Jakthion withdraw his rapier outside of melee combat?


Just give it a tug and roll damage - I'll assume it's successful since he can't really stop you...

Incidentally, I'm using Golarion gnomes, so short, vaguely magical people rather than massive earth elementals.

"There's more people here, dad - " she cuts short as the door next to the one the half orc came through bursts open, as two more people rush though - a particularly vile looking gnome and a tall, harried looking human. There's a quiet growl that sounds like it's from a particularly nasty dog too, and the kids' faces lose what little colour they'd regained after the last fight ended.

As the door slams open, he aims and shoots the vile little gnome.

The gnome starts moving towards the stairs, and reaches the top of the stairs as Jakthion's bullet rips through his left knee, dropping him to the floor.

Based on the previous discussion: 3 Actions to cast Palsy modified as: 1 Magic Point to cast; 1 Magic Point for 2 targets; 1 magic Point for range - Modified only 2 points out of 6 possible.

As the two men come out onto the landing and threaten the group, Jarl begins chanting in Varisian again, releasing a shimmer through the air, which washes over, and past, both targets to no effect.

Feeling pretty poorly about my choice to wield magic right now. 12 Magic Points remain, NO actions remain.

Shouting a Shadde-Quah battle-cry, Do-waya closes the distance, hoping to block any more of Lamm's gang from rushing through the open doorway.

Balian will pick up his shield and strike at the nearest enemy.

So, one action to pick up the shield, eh? Then having the shield gives him another, bringing him back to two if he uses it and one to attack, making it one action left.

Once again Marada whispers words of power and her hand becomes blurry to the sight of others, with a flick the blur shoots through the air at the human adversary.

And once again, Marada utters a string of curses that would make a sailor blush.


Whatever Marada tried to do fails, while Balian's spear strikes the gnome solidly; it doesn't penetrate his armour, but there's the definite creaking of bone as it hits.

Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Balian, please pick a manoeuvre - he's flat on his back, and doesn't get to parry.

You feel a bone snap under your spear when you drive it down.

The human quickly leaps out of the way of Do-Waya's spear, and points a wand at him. A stream of ice cold air blasts out at the nomad, but fails to connect.
