Rurik reloads his crossbow and takes aim at Shanwen, hoping for a clean shot.

I accidentally made my post over in the Discussion thread; would you like me to reroll here, or just use the results of that post?

We'll just use those results. Not a bad roll.

Dunno if that hits, but if it does:

Rurik: Light crossbow damage on Shanwen: 1d8 ⇒ 4

Rurik's shot strikes a hole in the Signifier's armor. Blood pours down his side.

Tanrov's weapon crushes another man, throwing blood and gore all over the carriage. The other one fighting Tanrov looks pale, but stands his ground.

Martino's arrow flies through the air, but the Hellknight's armor manages to absorb the impact without penetration. Shanwen sneers in Martino's direction uttering an oath under his breath. He then turns to look at Tanrov and casts a spell. "Flee!" commands the evil priest.

Tanrov needs to make a save against command. It is an enchantment (compulsion) {language-dependent, mind-affecting} spell.

will save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Similar to the blessing magic that is enhancing him the command spell turns his body to movement away from the cart.

Yeah, that's a failed save! On your next turn you'll be forced to flee from Shanwen as quickly as possible. It is not a panicked rout, so it will be a double-move over a run, and if it is possible to avoid any attacks of opportunity you would be able to do so.

Mimazaran, Garidan, and Cato are up next.

Male Wayang Bard (Shadow Puppeteer) 1 AC: 17/Touch: 12/Flat: 15/Darkvision 60ft./Init: +2/Perception: +1/Sense Motive: -1/Fort: +0/Reflex: +5/Will: +2

Spellcraft to identify spell: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Mimazaran had no clue what Shanwen had done to Tanrov, but he was certain that it was magical in nature. He had to wonder whether or not it would be the group's best interest to keep the violent tiefling with them, seeing how he cared little about the suggestion that blood shouldn't have been shed, but he was sure that time wasn't on their sides. "My hands will be stained in this, too," he muttered to himself as he pulled out some dark stencils. "May the shadows accept me when it's my time."

Taking in a deep breath, the young Wayang tried to pretend he was just putting on a performance. Using his practiced motions, he used what little light could find him in the brush to make a shadow puppet. Concentrating, he made a rather convincing shadow of an eagle swooping down at Shanwen's face, talons bared and ready to scratch through his eyeholes.

1 talon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
2 talon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
1 talon damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
2 talon damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
bite damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1

It's DC 18 Will save to realize the eagle isn't real and take 20% damage. Everyone can make it, for flavor reasons, if they don't want to just automatically know it's what Mimazaran can do; he's never actually stated he could make his shadow puppets attack, after all.

Is that a shadow celestial, or infernal eagle? Being neutral, you have the choice. It doesn't matter for resolving the attack itself, but may matter if targeted by spells/elemental damage.

Shanwen's Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

The shadow creature's beak manages to find get through Shanwen's helmet, snapping flesh off of his nose.

Will Save vs. Shadow Puppet: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

+2 Strength (enhancement bonus) to Cato for 1 round.

Standard Action: Augment (Sp) As a standard action, you can touch a creature and grant it either a +2 enhancement bonus to a single ability score of your choice or a +1 bonus to natural armor that stacks with any natural armor the creature might possess. At 10th level, the enhancement bonus to one ability score increases to +4. The natural armor bonus increases by +1 for every five wizard levels you possess, to a maximum of +5 at 20th level. This augmentation lasts a number of rounds equal to ½ your wizard level (minimum 1 round). You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Intelligence modifier.
Move Action: Shift east on the bridge a few squares.

It'd be a celestial. I forgot I get that option. Also, its AC is 14, since that matters. And since it's based off Shadow Conjuration, it only has 1 HP, since it's cut by 1/5.

Is Cato able to shoulder past the second horse (assuming it is even still in the way and hasn't attempted to move away) to reach Shanwen? I am assuming this attack is directed towards the Hellknight with the current flavor, but if the horse blocks Cato's path, it will be the one taking the attack. I have moved Cato on roll20 to where he would move to attack Shanwen; if this is impossible, feel free to move him back!

Will Save vs. Eagle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Cato offers a string of unintelligible curses - pausing only to give a brief message of thanks to Garidan for his spell (not by name, of course) - as crossbow bolts skitter off his armor, else miss entirely. The giant man's glare flits among the Hellknights who fired on him before finally settling on the one who called the order. Cato lets loose a deep, rumbling chuckle at the sight of a psuedo-illusory bird clawing and biting at the Signifier. He sets his feet, and decides to join the eagle in its attack.

Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 8 - 4 = 21
Damage (non-lethal): 3d6 + 13 ⇒ (2, 5, 4) + 13 = 24

With one horse out of the way, yes. I wouldn't worry too much about Tanrov's incidental killings. The first guy happened to take exactly as much damage as would be required to kill-kill him, the second was the result of a crit. Penumbra said to avoid unnecessary deaths but that things happen in combat. She just doesn't want to be viewed as being as brutal as the Order of the Rack is.

Cato's blow knocks Shanwen off the carriage, as well as unconscious.

The armiger on top of the prison wagon finishes loading the massive crossbow and fires again at Cato. Though the weapon can't pivot downward, his large stature make it possible to continue targeting him. He fails to hit altogether.

Arm5 Ranged: 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (5) - 5 = 0

Meanwhile, the one who was sitting beside Shanwen drops his crossbow and draws his sword, then hops forward to attempt to stab the large-sized human.

Arm4: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 / Arm4 Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Another armiger makes the decision to fire at the man standing behind him, rather than risk hitting his fellow trainee, and sticks a bolt into him despite the spell's protection.

Arm3: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19 / Arm3 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8

Trying to keep from panicking, the armiger beside Tanrov attacks with his longsword and lands a solid blow.

Arm1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 / Arm1 Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Damage from armiger recap:
Cato - 7 slashing.
Garidan - 8 piercing.
Tanrov - 2 slashing.

Looks like you made them mad!

Round 2 Recap

Tanrov - Attacks and misses an armiger.
Rurik - Hits Shanwen with a crossbow, remaining in cover.
Martino - Misses with a shortbow, remaining in cover.
Shanwen - Succesfully casts command (flee) on Tanrov.
Mimazaran - Uses shadow puppet bardic ability, remains in cover.
Garidan - Uses augment ability on Cato.
Cato - Knocks out Shanwen.
Armigers - A1 makes a melee attack on Tanrov, striking. A3 fires a bolt at Garidan. A4 cuts Cato. A5 completes full-round action to reload arbalest, misses Cato.

Everyone may now act on round 3, before the armigers, although Tanrov must still flee for his next action away from Shanwen. I didn't study the map in-depth, since I'm about to fall asleep while typing, but I think you can withdraw and avoid an AoO.

The armiger's eyes roll back into his head and he collapses. The trainee is still breathing, but out cold for quite a while.

The armiger who had been fighting Tanrov decides to pursue the fleeing Tiefling and charges, but his swing misses his target.

The trainee who had fired at Garidan reloads, steps back, and fires on Cato, missing thanks to the horse trying to avoid combat.

Arm3: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

The one manning the massive crossbow hurries to reload the weapon again.

Round 3 Recap

Tanrov - Flees from Shanwen, per the command spell.
Rurik - Reloads and misses with crossbow, remaining in cover.
Martino - Shoots an armiger with a shortbow, remaining in cover.
Mimazaran - Changes shadow puppet target, remains in cover.
Shadow Eagle - Scratches an armiger.
Garidan - Goes prone after moving to edge of bridge.
Cato - Knocks out an armiger.
Armigers - A1 charges and makes a melee attack on Tanrov, missing. A3 fires a bolt at Cato and misses. A5 performs a full-round action to reload arbalest.

I think the horse is in my way to get to the armiger that is off the cart, so I will do this:

Cato takes a step backward towards Garidan, and flicks a hand into his own pack. He retrieves the potion of cure light wounds from earlier, and pours the life-giving curative down the wizard's throat.

Cure Light: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

"If you shrink me back, can charge that one," Cato says to Garidan as the other man wakes.

Or if you have a good spell to use, do that!

Garidan slowly pulls out his own healing potion and prepares to drink it. He looks to Cato and says "Keep fighting...I'll be fine."

You should be able to occupy the unconscious horse's square and climb up on the cart to attack the armiger manning the arbalest. You may take an AoO from the horse in the process. Or knock the 2nd horse out and then move onto the cart to stay in combat with your increased reach.

No worries. The armigers won't get to react just yet, so I'll go ahead and make the attack rolls in a little bit.
