"Captain Alastair, defend the monks and may the Drunken God see us through this foolishness. We'll not dishonor our Lord this day!"

In response to her words Alastair raises his holy symbol and blesses all those near him. Calling on the welcomed aid of the Drunken god as the world spins out of control around them.

Whether or not this effects the party or just the Followers is upto you Corsario. More like queue dramatic effect. ;)

Seraph was beside herself with what was happening, not only was the Dragonscale troops acting completely odd but now the Restov troops were charging them. Despite the world tumbling into complete and utter madness the Silver dragonflight troops held firm and their new commander's resolve was unburdened by the thought of crushing anyone who threatened the monks surrounding the cart. She gives a warning shout but as they continue forward she lowers her lance and charges in response.

Banner clearly visible +2 to saves versus fear effects and +1 to attacks while charging for all allies.

She was attempting not to kill the man and expertly guided Swift around his sloppy counterattack. As her lance came in she aimed for the chainmail links in his armor and, catching them, used them to twist the man savagely around as she rode past. This action would twist his muscles and leave him battered but otherwise unharmed save for a massive bruise that would form later. Her charge carries her well past the overly armored man and gives her the room to turn around and charge again hopefully in the next few moments.

The next strike though would bring him down and she...

Alastair's blessing affects all allies, including the other cohort's...

The Silver Dragonflight moves quickly and efficiently to protect the monks and the cart.
After she knows out one Restov soldier the other soldiers start to move to allow her to pass, fearing his lance and Swift's size, and preferring to attack smaller targets. But a couple of them seems to be reading their Halberds to counter another charge from her.

Round 1

Tatiana steps away from the Restov trooper and sighs in disappointment. She quickly prays to her divine patron Desna finishing aloud, "Leyfðu mér að fljúga!" Her full plate armor immediately becomes less than weightless allowing her to push away from the ground. Looking at the Four Swords, she commands, "Protect the royal treasurer, Anando!"

She then shouts at the Restov troops, "Who commands you Restovian thugs! You attack heroes of Restov!" As an after-thought, she draws her crossbow.

Sorry for the wait! :( Got injured at work, woo me.... Gravity Blades has faded but Xi'Tir is ready to rumble!

Xi'Tir, I hope you are well under way for your recovery, and that the injury was nothing serious. Better quit that, and simply stick to participating in wars over kingdom disputes - way safer :D

Daliedhur keeps Leaf and the Ravens steady as the riders approach, her voice unusually commanding - "Hooooold!" - she shouts from her point position, all the Ravens arrayed behind her, at least 10' away - enough to discharge their bows before Daliedhur is engaged.

Now... We have somewhat of a cunundrum here, since half of the Ravens are Wizards and Sorcerers and the other half are Rangers - so... I'm just gonna play it as I see it Corsario. If anything strikes you unbalanced, let me know ;)

The Ravens are well trained, even though inexperienced - yet they each know exactly what to do in such a straightforward combat situation.

The first volley comes from the Daliedhur, the leader of the charge being her focus.

Daliedhur Rapid Shot 1 (Favored Enemy and Point Blank Shot): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

Daliedhur Rapid Shot 2 (Favored Enemy and Point Blank Shot): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

Assuming 16 for main stats on archers (Dex) and for casters (Int)

Immediately after, two of the caster Ravens (Shelox and Tirithian) discharge their grease spell in front of the main charger - Save DC14 (Level 1 spell + 3 (Int)

If I need to save for him/them - assuming Heavy horse stats (Ref+7):

Brevoy Charger Horse Reflex save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Craaaaaash!!

Multiple horses fall flat on their faces, some of the charging warriors managing to keep steady, while others are spit off their mounts, to be again peppered by arrows from the remaining Ravens.

Raven Alianne attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Raven Tirith attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Raven Elmerien attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Raven Julianne attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Raven Rielmer attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Most of the arrows bump harmlessly against the armored, charging soldier.

And rays of light from the remaining three casters (Ritta, Gremiun and Xanithian)

Three Magic Missiles on charger: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2, 2) + 3 = 8

If any attacker reaches Daliedhur:

The last of the attacks comes from Leaf himself, readied as the rider approaches and unleashing a series of hoof strikes and biting.

Leaf Kicks!: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Leaf Kicks!: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Leaf Bites!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Destroyerman eventually makes it back from the depths of the forest he was hiding in. The silver construct looks far weaker than he did before his departure; as he lands, the eidolon is barely able to stay on his feet. Despite her small stature and tiny legs, Neji is quickly by her other self's side with a wand in hand.

Rejuvenate Eidolon on D-Man: 6d8 + 6 ⇒ (7, 3, 5, 1, 5, 5) + 6 = 32

"Geez, and I just bought this thing! Well, things changed, and this mess certainly counts as an emergency; I don't see the harm in using it," the little gnome chatters incoherently as she heals her eidolon.

Destroyerman waits patiently for his Summoner to finish. She seems intent on completely healing him up, but the golem stops her when he feels most of his strength return. After taking a practice swing of his falchion, Destroyerman simply runs through his programming and asks, "Should we retreat?"

Neji pauses; on one hand, she basically has a big sack of money and the perfect getaway vehicle. Heck, she could probably turn invisible, grab some gold, and retreat with nobody none the wiser. Her loyalties have always been to Janus Sevenstar, so ditching Brevoy and heading back to Magnimar to live like a queen (and start a proper search for her friend) is highly tempting.

However, one look around at the others buries those dark thoughts. Neji decides to see what she can do to prevent a war. Hopefully, everybody will listen to reason.

I would say the D-Man was a distance away from Neji where his HP drops to a quarter of the usual 12/48. This restores him back to 44.

OoOoO

Long story short, Neji finds that she would not have been able to make anyone listen to her. Every attempt she makes to get into parle proves impossible; nobody has any qualms about literally kicking out a small woman. Even if she uses Destroyerman, Neji feels that she will just cause things to crumble quickly.

"So much for chivalry," Neji grumbles at one point.

Neji whimpers as the scene of a real war breaks out around her. She is not sure why she gives the order. It might be the sight of her friends being hurt. It might her disgust at the lack of loyalty toward the Heroes of Restov and their associates. Truth be told, it is probably the soldier charging straight for her with the intent to cut her head off.

Channeling a spell into her eidolon, Neji quickly latches herself to Destroyerman's leg and shouts, "Stop him!"

In a handful of seconds, the eidolon rockets upward in size as he gives Neji's order a rather liberal interpretation. Without a second thought, the silver golem jams his massive falchion right into the soldier threatening his tiny friend. While the poor man somehow (seemingly) survives, the soldier will probably not be able to survive another hit of that magnitude.

Destroyerman Falchion Power Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

"Do we even know where to find Rupert's daughter? If we don't act quickly to locate her, we may find ourselves unable to procure her assistance, I mean what if those who attacked us get to her first?"

Despite the girls obviously mocking tone Seraph remains civil, this wasn't her field, she was way outside her norm. Despite her suggestion being mocked she had little options to consider other then marching south and leaving Brevoy behind. "We have documentation here that can be easily copied and new signatures made. No lawyers needed Milady especially as we have more then enough talent here to make it work. With Anando being the man he is I am sure can aid us in this task immensely." The thought of Rupert's daughter troubled her but finally she shrugged. "I am sure the revelation of Ruperts last words will ensure the girl's safety, she will more then likely be used to manipulate us in the future."

A lot of these questions hung on Anando's shoulders, he had inside knowledge of the who's, What's and Where's. Regardless the dragonflight were ready to march south, all that needed to be done was to figure out who was coming with them. "Regardless we are ready to march south before their forces rally."

Xi shrugged, she didn't care either way. The girl's wolf was an interesting creature, the girl however grated on her nerves. Which was unsurprising as everyone grated on her nerves right now. "Paper or no paper, dey don't care. Da dead don't cause trouble and what can we do for dis girl, eh?"

Chi merely purred quietly as Xi watched the road behind them.

After taking the back of the retreating group and making sure that any who attempted to follow were mislead or convinced that following was a poor idea, Halcorg is the last to arrive in the camp. Listening to the rest discuss how to proceed he speaks up.

We need find safe place first. We need find my wife and king and you friends second.

Many years, Brevoy does not go into Stolen Lands. If we go, will they follow? I thinks not without much preparing and plans. We go south and find secure camp. We make friends with fey, or fight if must. The King treasure not safe here.

We all servants of our friends and the King. We protect the King treasure until King return or we know King dead.

With that Halcorg looks to the south attempting to discern the best path that will lead south.

Do we have map? We can find place with safety and water to make camp and begin to create Slobada. Even if King dead, new land of Slobada will live.

Tatiana flies as high as comfortable to increase her visibility to the horizon, in order to confirm the direction of the retreating troops. Near the duration of her power, she lands near Anando to listen to the discussion.

"All good comments," she replies to the others. "We need Anando to decide what he wants to do, because he controls the treasury of Sloboda as the Royal Treasurer. However, I will share my counsel: I feel we have four priorities. First, as Halcorg said, our first priority is a secure camp. Since we have official claim to the Stolen Lands, I think we should settle there."

"Second, as she said," pointing to Tarina, "we need to document our political standing and our version of events that just happened. We need to send multiple copies to the Dragonscale Throne and Restov to ensure we stay in their good graces. After all, Rupert owes his kingdom to the Dragonscale Throne and his support from Restov."

"Third, we need to investigate the disappearance of Rupert and our companions. After we exhaust all clues at the site of abduction, then we can pray to the gods."

"And fourth, we need to locate and communicate with Alexandria, Rupert's daughter. Most certainly, she has become a political pawn. Both Rupert and her protector who was named in his will would want to know she is safe when we find them."

"Thoughts? Discussion?"

Anando looks at all of you.
"I also don't think they will follow us into the Stolen Lands. They saw you are not "easy picking", and they have something more important to worry about, as a war between Issia and Restov... and maybe all of Rostland, has just started. We have the Treasury, but is not a "war" usable one, so I don't think they will care for it. About Rupert's daughter, I fear it's the first time I have heard of her, and I was his confident, so I fear it won't be easy to locate her. About making our own charter, of course I can do it, and maybe is a good idea to make one for ourselves, but I don't think anyone else is going to give two acorns about it. And about me being the "Royal Treasurer", I wouldn't be able to stand my own if you decide to tie me up and leave me on the side of the road, so I think we should start with a clean slate, and get organized as we choose... at least until Rupert and the barons return."
Welcome to the sandbox part of the adventure, so know you choose what to do and where to go. I have prepared more about the Stolen Lands than Iobaria, but you are now free to roam the country as you see fit. At an easy pace you are like a week away Oleg's trading post (considering the followers and monks) but the cohorts can go ahead and explore). I will post a more detailed map, as well as the thinks you all know about the Stolen Lands later. You can start using the maps I put to plan your next move(s).
Out of game information. I would think the "Barons" will reach you at least three months in the future (game time), so if you choose to wait for them you will lose that time.

"Straighten up, Anando," Tatiana snaps. "Welcome to being a lord. Without their armies, most aristocracy can be 'tied up and left on the side of the road.' However, King Rupert proclaimed you to be Royal Treasurer and that's what you are. Because if you are not the Royal Treasurer, then the material that we are protecting is not a Royal treasury. And instead of loyal subjects of the kingdom of Sloboda, we are nothing more than the latest gang of bandits to settle the Stolen Lands with stolen property of Brevoy. Words matter, Anando. Accept your fate."

Looking to everyone else, "Clearly, Anando needs some fellow counselors. How are we going to organize the kingdom of Sloboda until we recover the king or young queen?"

It would be real helpful if Anando could explain the whole kingdom organization to the cohorts, so we could emulate it giving all the barons equal representation. Otherwise, it will be whatever we come up with, and I will continue to insist Anando lead. Without him as royal treasurer, we are nothing more than well-intentioned bandits. Cheers

Seraph glanced at Xi'Tir, quickly dismissing the girls random bouts of outrage as quickly as she could. They needed no in fighting and now that they had positive moment she'd prefer to keep it that way. She nods at Anando's detailed map, quickly glancing it over as Xi'Tir peaked a glance as well. "Tatiana speaks the truth most definitely Anando and your map is detailed indeed..."

"What do we know of the Stag Kingdom and The Nomen Centaur's?" Waiting for a response allows her time to think as to the position that most suited her Lord Orlovsky. Being a greater leader then, the relatively few people, she knew she believed him suited for... "I can take on the mantle of General in my Lord's stead. With the Dragonflight we can carve out a foothold somewhere in the stolen land. They're not veterans like the Restovian guard or the Dragonscale troops but they are dedicated to the cause through and through. We should be getting some more recruits as well... However I prefer that we remain Kingless if Anando wishes for a clean slate that is..."

Xi'Tir begins to make a face but then reconsiders at Seraph's intervention. She looks over Anando's map as best she can, she had all of her sisters maps and gear and could easily duplicate Anando's map if... hed allow it. "Can I see dat later Royal Man? Simultaneously making sure everyone is accounted for, and that the Ravens are safe and sound, Daliedhur's first step is to keep watch for some time, finding an elevated piece of terrain and watching the path they have just traversed for any pursuers.

Once she has made sure they are not being immmediately followed, she returns to the group.

"I believe our first important decision is whether we want to establish some sort of base of operations, or stay mobile. The first has an obvious, immediate advantage in terms of logistics and defense structure, but it also makes us a pinpointable target, even though it seems we are not being followed for the time being"

Looking at the map, and then around them, the elf adds - "I vote for the second - our convoy is light enough to allow for a very decent mobility, so we should take advantage of it, and not stay in one place for long. It appears we are not being followed at the moment, but someone will come for us innevitably - our best defense would be making us hard to track. Me and the Ravens can provide food and shelter for some of the group, but we will still need a place to restock and ressuply, so perhaps we should start by scouting out the nearest settlements, get our bearings, and map which and where supplies can be obtained, for later reference"

Halcorg looks at the map and then thinks for a few minutes before speaking up.

He looks over at the tall elf:
Hmmm. All place are in something control. I think it best south to here. He points to the hex just north of the bridge over the Shrike River. We make small camp here to protect non-warriors. Then we strong at fighting search land around. We search Stag and Kobold land.

He pauses, as he is not use to speaking so many words in the rather alien Taldan tongue.
I think we make town here or here. He points to where the Thorn and Shrike come together in the Kobold Lands and then to where the Shrike enters the Tuskwater. Both give water and the water help protect from attack. But we must make sure safe before all monks and other not strong at fighting come.

He pauses and take s a sip from his waterskin.
In Cinderlands, water is most important. We make small camp until we control land by water. Then we make real town by water. Both by lake and by two river is good. This is what I think best.

Having finished saying his piece, Halcorg looks to the others for their input and responses.

Essentially, he wants to create a temporary camp just to the north of the bridge over the Shrike. Then search the area around this slowly searching south. He thinks that the best spots for a permanent settlement would be either where the Shrike and Thorn join, or where the Shrike flows into the Tuskwater.

We have a fairly large retinue and dragging the monks and all the other forces around is simply asking for innocents to get killed. We number close to a hundred I think and traveling with that many provisions seems untenable. If we make a temp camp, then the cohorts can venture out in one or two groups to scout the area and be able to return quickly to resupply and make sure that all is safe.

I like the idea of 'not splitting the party.' I think it best to keep moving and scouting hexes until we get where we want to settle. I may agree with Halcorg, but the main characters might return by the time we get to ready to settle.

"Seraph, is it? Thanks. You already command the majority of our warriors, so does anyone have an issue with her being named Commander? General seems a bit too big for us now, right?" Tatiana smiles.

"Great, Daliedhur. I agree with you. We should keep moving. Anyone left alone is at risk. Everyone here appears mobile, so let's keep it that way until we find a suitable settlement point. You and the Ravens can provide a screen and forage for us." Tatiana nods to her friend.

"Let's get going. Where ever we decide to head, the road from Restov only goes one direction toward the Stolen Lands, so the first choice of direction is easy." Tatiana finds Girl is the troop of horses and mounts up getting ready.

"Does anyone want to help me document our status and events of today? We can talk about it on the move and write it when we stop. Then, we can make many copies for distribution." She looks obviously ready to move out.

She turns Girl, who is anxious to depart, in a slow tight circle. "You. Four swords. Monks, and others. Tomorrow, I will contact Desna for insight about Rupert and our companions. Until then, are you traveling with us toward the Stolen Lands?"

Kingmaker Exploration Map

Anando start to show you places on the maps and telling you what he knows of them.
"You have to remember this map was done with references and second-hand histories. I guess we will need much exploration to be certain what it has is real. On the Stolen Lands there are only two "real" nations. On the Northeast border we have Brevoy, developed and patrolled. And on the Northwest we have Pitax, south of the Thousand Voices forest. Pitax has only developed and controls some area, but has reclaimed a much bigger one, but that claims are not formally recognized by, well, anyone, specially Brevoy, the bandits and the Numerian barbarians that roam all of Glenebon. North of Lake Hooktongue is the territory of the "Tiger Lords", a band of barbarian from Numeria that have stayed there for several years, unlike other warbands that come and go. Lake Hooktongue was a hub of commercial activity before, being a quick and safe way to moving people and merchandise, but for several years the commerce have all but stopped. The lake is teeming with Boggards, who have complete control of it except for Fort Drelev, a small town that survives from better times. The Hooktongue Slough, on the other hand, is now overrun by demons from the Worldwound with the purpose of closing it down so the Crusade is denied that way of reinforcements and supplies. In the Narlmarches we find, on the North, the Dragon Forest, where a powerful black dragon is said that controls most of it. After the Skunk river lays the Enchanted Forest. It is said that everyone that sets a foot in there disappears or is... changed... never to be the same again. The fey controls it and it is reputedly the most dangerous part of the forest. Next to the Tuskwater lake, the forest is home of a Lizardmen tribe, aggressive to river traffic. And south of the Marque river, all the way until Mivon is controlled by a powerful band of Trolls. In the Lake the Candlemere island is said to be Haunted, and noone has set foot on it on many a lifetime. East of the forest is the so called "Stag Kingdom"... is not a kingdom in a classic way, as there is no organization or development, only people living a meager and brutal existence under the yoke of bandit gangs, mostly under the control of a self called "Stag King", a bandit lord of ill repute. Only north of the Narlmarches there are some brave hunters and farmer that resist them, with losing fortunes, leaded by Oleg Leveton and his 7 sons. It is said that they won't last long. Between the Thorn and Shrike rivers there are many Kobolds, and no one can stay the night there without being attacked, so there are no farms nor people living there, but it is said that during the day you can travel without much problem. Just don't stay the night in there. South of the Gudrin River there is no people, too, as the land is filled with monsters. Bulletes, chimeras, and more exotic kinds make there their home. And north of the Silverstep lake it is said to be a dead and terrible place, filled with undead, protecting some barrow or cursed ancient treasure. And south of here, on the east side of the Tors of Levenies, with formally is Iobaria, there live the Nomen Centaur, many different tribes of nomad Centaurs hostile to other humanoids. The South Rostland road go Northwest from here into the town of Nivakta's Crossing and Fort Serenko, and then towards New Stetven. The Shrike river is not used for transport, not has even been, because of the Crooked Falls and the big Shrike cascade, with impede normal boad traffic. And I was forgetting. The Mivon River Kingdom claims all of the Troll lands as theirs, even of they don't make any move to really occupy those lands, nor attack the trolls. And remember, this map is based on conjectures and best guesses. Until we explore for ourselves we can't be certain of anything."
After checking the map he continues.
"Halcorg has a point, we need to send explorer groups to find a suitable place to start our kingdom, but before that we need a place to stay, and let most of the people live while we find that place. And near water is a good place."
Please note that Varnhold and the road going there do not exists, the Cenobitic Monks will go that way, build the town and the road.
