Yargul Steland |
Yargul nods. "So it appears."
Yargul props his tower shield out as cover while the group discusses the situation.
"Would be a good bluff, Captain."
Captain Kara Battaglia |
Well, here goes nothin'. Kul-Amon, can I borrow some of that horse meat?
Assuming he says yes...
Kara stows her weapons and approaches the goblin with hands outstretched, holding the horse meat in front of her.
Hey! Ekkie sends us! She says she and Plarg got all the good horse stuff and if you want some, you better come quick! Here!
Bluff: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Kul-Amon |
Kul-Amon grunts and allows himself to be parted with the horse-meat. Kul-Amon will know what horse tastes like!
GM Doom 'n Gloom |
Looking at the map, you are a long way off to negotiate. Assuming you get closer...
Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Obviously distrusting of an outsider, the goblin still seems intrigued but the thought of horse meat.
"You show me longshanks! Show me the meat, or I munch and chew til I find it. "
Shaya |
Shaya beams as they discuss negotiating with the goblin. "Hey... going for NOT killing right away? Shelyn thinks that's great! She-- oh, I'll hush up and let you talk."
She falls silent, not understanding the goblin tongue but hanging behind Kara so as not to ruin her lie by looking too threatening.
Took the liberty of moving the party on the map. Put Kara in front as the talker but if you don't want to be in front Kara, feel free to switch us
Jikan Osoi |
"It's worth a shot at least." I'm not optimistic though.
Captain Kara Battaglia |
Kara approaches slowly, tossing the meat to the goblin.
Kul-Amon |
"Kul-Amon is indifferent as to whether it is worth shooting the goblin or talking to it but Kul-Amon was not going to eat that horse-meat."
GM Doom 'n Gloom |
"Glumper know where meat is, stoopid longshank." He points to the ground, "It right there! And me keep it for Glumper's self." Still maintaining a suspicious eye on the team, 'Glumper' takes a few tentative pokes at the package before scooping it up. He gives it a sniff, and a small foam of spit appears at the corners of his mouth. These quickly lead to a river of drool as he sheathes his sword and unwraps the package. No sooner is the butcher paper discarded than the small goblin starts ripping out raw chunks with wet, sloppy bites.
Kul-Amon |
Kul-Amon frowns. "The goblin is eating the horsemeat that Kul-Amon did not want. Now what?"
Jikan Osoi |
"Well, what else have we told this goblin? I don't speak the language."
Captain Kara Battaglia |
Kara speaks to the goblin succinctly, and begins walking past the feasting sentry.
GM Doom 'n Gloom |
@Kara: I think that will require a Bluff check.
GM Doom 'n Gloom |
The first was to get him to come away from his post. The second is to allow 6 armed strangers to get passed him.
GM Doom 'n Gloom |
The goblin sits down, happy to keep his prize from the others. It looks as if he will be here for a while.
Happy to treat him as out of future fights. Feel free to move on.
One goblin stood watch at the entrance to the Nightsoil lair. Peeking down the corridor, you notice there are three others 'standing guard' on the far end. These goblins aren't very attentive, and they seem to be caught up in some kind of game which apparently involves a live rat, several pieces of wire, and a lit torch with a nail in it. They have not noticed their missing companion or the party.
Approximately 15' down the hallway, there is a pit trap.
Kul-Amon |
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Awkwardly crossing the opening to the goblin lair, Kul-Amon peers around the corner. "Postoji zamka petnaestak metara dalje." he whispers over to the others.
Jikan Osoi |
Jikan stops in his tracks as the others also stop, unable to see far enough ahead.
Captain Kara Battaglia |
Perc: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Kara doesn't see anything amiss and moves to advance upon the next group of goblins, until she sees Jikan stop.
What? she says to Kul-Amon, in the Common tongue. Do you see something?
Yargul Steland |
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
The elf's ears perk at the sound of the orcish tongue, but he says nothing.
"We don't have enough horse meat for three more, do we?"
GM Doom 'n Gloom |
Would one of you make the Fort save for Klo (1d20+3), or shall I?
Perception: 3d20 ⇒ (2, 16, 9) = 27
One of the goblin's ears twitches a little, and looks as if he is about to look down the hall just as his friends cheer at the rat. He looks back down and shoves the lit torch at the vermin as they trio squeel with delight.
Current conditions:
Shaya (sickened){-2 to attack rolls, damage rolls, saves and skill checks}
Yargul (sickened) {-2 to attack rolls, damage rolls, saves and skill checks}
Klo Thunderstep |
My continued apologies, folks. Things have certainly not let up, but my absence i getting ridiculous, so I’m committed to catching up and staying current. :/
Old, original fort save DC8: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Perception, DC20: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Klo—his nose long-accustomed to equally pungent smells of fish and his own outdoorsy BO—seems oblivious to the sewer’s smells. He’s been quietly stomping along this whole time. Let the talkers talk he’s been mentally repeating to himself.
As they come to the new set of goblin guards, the big man leans on his spear, trying to find a way to be helpful.
”So, you trick-talk dem again? Or should we …” He hefts his spear emphaticaly.
Klo Thunderstep |
Also, I'm showing Klo as having 5 damage, but I can't find from where. It might be from the last Scenario (and never updated). If he took it during the chase (which I can't seem to find), can I get some healing before we get into any other scrapes? Or should I just refill it?
GM Doom 'n Gloom |
Top yourself off my friend. No one has taken damage...yet (MWA HA HA)
For expedience sake, I have provided the exact location of the trap. Just need to know how you would like to proceed.
Shaya |
That's what we get for having the rogue DM! :P Okay, time to do it the old fashioned way!
Shaya squints at Kul-Amon's words but can't see anything, her stomach roiling too hard from the stench. She steps forward into the open hallway view anyway. "HEY! GOBLINS! Uh, FREE MEAT DOWN HERE!"
It worked for Kara, right?
Whispering-- hoping the distance isn't enough to cue in the goblins that they know about the pit-- Shaya mutters in common, "Kul says there's a pit trap in the hall."

Two of the goblins seems confused, but after a quick huddle, they draw their bows and prepare to shoot.

"It's the goblin way, I suppose."
Two Move Actions
Not being able to see around the corner, Jikan prepares for ranged combat by taking out a Scroll of Obscuring Mist and a Wand of Magic Missile. In tight quarters, he suspects that Enlarge Person may not be of much use.
Captain Kara Battaglia |
No sense playing it false any more. Let's take 'em down!
Kara draws a javelin and steps into sight, throwing her projectile at the lead goblin. Her balance is off and the shot goes wide. Cursing, she then dives on the ground, trying to make a small target for return fire.
Move: Draw javelin. 5 ft move. Standard, throw at black goblin. Free: drop Prone, 22 AC
throw at black goblin, range penalty: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 - 2 = 5
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
GM Doom 'n Gloom |
I will give Yargul a chance to post. If nothing by tomorrow, we can bot him or delay him.
Yargul Steland |
Hearing that the ruse has been detected, Yargul quickly steps forward. He rounds the corner taking a position in front of Kara and plants his tower shield.
"Come for me. I am meat." he announces in the common tongue.
move 20ft, drop tower shield for total cover, attempting to draw fire (or you know, if they decide to charge over something)
GM Doom 'n Gloom |
Shaya steps back into the stench of the sewers to open her pack as Jikan draws forth a wand and scroll. Kara's arm is knocked as Yargul steps into her throwing lane, ruining her javelin's flight. The goblins take aim and loose their volley. Yargul is struck more by chance than skill as one of the arrows bounces off the wall and into his thigh.

Standard Action
He activates his Magic Missile wand, firing at the goblins. Targeting Black.

Kul-Amon |
Kul-Amon growls "Kul-Amon cannot attack them from here. Let them come closer to the trap!"
Is there any way around the trap? Does it span the entire hall? That goblin was able to get across right?
GM Doom 'n Gloom |
As Jikan's bolt of force unerringly strikes one of the archers, Kul-Amon takes time to study the nature of the trap itself.
Six-inch-wide ledges on either side of the corridor allow creatures to move through the corridor without triggering the pit, or to cross the pit while it is open, with a successful DC 15 Acrobatics check.

Do I get a reflex save?
GM Doom 'n Gloom |
@ Kul-Amon, Reflex DC 20 (in either tier)
Will post after the reflex save and Shaya, as that with have an effect on the goblin's actions.
Shaya |
Ack, sorry about that, guys, missed that I was up.
Shaya swings her grappling hook tentatively but isn't sure what she might use it to grab onto. "Hey, Yargul!" she calls. "You're by that pit, how deep does it look to be!"
Delaying, sorry to slow us down just for that. ICly Shaya doesn't know Jikan can cast enlarge, but Jikan, if that pit is only 10 feet, we might be able to 'plug' it with an enlarged Shaya...
GM Doom 'n Gloom |
Snap, been busy getting ready for teaching again. Will have a post tomorrow.
GM Doom 'n Gloom |
Falling: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Kul-Amon begins to sidle along the wall, trying to stay off the trap. However, a loose brick causes him to loose his footing. The moment all of his weight lands on the floor, a fifteen foot section buckles and splits in two. The Nethyian cleric falls. More disturbing is the fact that as the half-orc realizes that this is where the goblins dump their trash, he sees that he is not alone. A large, yet indistinct blob, is oozing toward him.
This is a young slime mold.
Two of the goblins squeal with glee as they toss aside their bows to grab flasks and try to hurl them in pit.
Black vs touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 for Fire: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Green vs touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 to Miss: 1d8 ⇒ 5 splashing for Fire: 1d6 ⇒ 6
The first seems to has been a poor mixture, as the direct hit flares more than it burns. The second flask was far deadlier, but the cleric is only singed by it.
Shortbow: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (12) - 4 = 8
The last goblin fires a shaft that bounces harmlessly off Yarguls shield.

"What is that solid liquid moving towards you?" the Irorian asks, alerting the party that Kul-Amon is not alone after his fall.
Continue to draw fire behind shield.
Shaya |
"Whoa, buddy!" Shaya calls as she hears Kul's hard landing. She quickly steps back into the main line of fire and tries to chuck the end of her knotted rope down to Kul-Amon. "Hang on, throwin' you a rope!"
If you need an attack roll to land the other end of the rope coil in the big pit:
Vs AC 5?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
....of course. Can't roll above a 6 in one of my other games, roll a 20 here.

Jikan drops his Scroll of Obscuring Mist for now.
