I would say even though splitting up would let us get the keys faster we have no idea what we could face along the way, there is more power in a group of six rather than in a group of three each. She then turns to Maa-Djour I can avoid the healing of the group if need be since the positive energy would harm me, however I always carry a wand of negative energy that would normally do harm that I can use on myself instead if the need arises.
Maa-Djour Paani
|
So a wand of negative will help when your two companions are on the ground dying and you have three forces of darkness focusing on you, what do you do then, heal yourself in the hopes that you can survive the battering you are about to receive or heal your companions and hope they will be able to defeat your foes before you die? a sly grin appears on Maa-Djour's face, hypotheticals are such a good way to find out about others.
| Marco the MachineSmith |
Honestly cleric we are all probably going to die anyway so why not just get this over with, do what we got to do, go home, eat some cake and kettle and not have to worry too much about the rest. Take things in stride, true planning is best but seriously who can plan their own demise anyway? He pats the cleric on the back as he suddenly has all the food, provisions and mechanical toys he can carry in his backpack ready to go.
Well I am going out with, or without you people cuz I want to get this done with and get to a forge. I have machines to build! He makes a break for his doorway in hopes that would get them to GO!
| The Nameless GM |
Sevence is standing in the doorway, not letting Marco pass. He still has more to say. "Your words speak truth, Maa-Djour. However, her abilities are not in healer, but in gathering information and making undead and vampires suffer. I've learned in my years that a team is better than a company. If you plan to leave, I'd recommend you do it in the morning. Serenity Grove is a good ways away from Shearpoint, and you'll need your rest to get there."
Sevence reaches down and picks up the stone. As he does the sounds of the clockwork go back to working, the fire reignites, the steam rises, and the cat goes back to jumping at the rock that isn't there anymore.
"I have business to attend to. I hope you take what I said into consideration. I will be awaiting your answer at the [Administration of] Commerce building." He turns and leaves the house. As he turns you can see a glimpse of the armor under his cloak. Just a look makes you feel there is more to this man than meets the eye.
With Sevence gone, the room seems to go back to normal, but a feeling of courage is still present.

Juan the Fifth, in my case I could just channel and heal all three of us, a channel which would be more effective on myself that a light wounds wand, but if the we choose to split up, by all means let's do it, I am happy with my chosen companions and location he says moving away from Marco's touch with annoyance, he's more than happy to go with the young elven woman to this paradise of nature she has talked about.
| Talmira Dimlun |
If we had two healers instead of one I would be ok with splitting the party. However we have the cleric and then I have very, very limited healing abilities. I am more of a fighter with my crossbow than with magic. So honestly splitting the part would more than likely lead to the demise of most of us.
| Juan The Fifth |
"Maa-Djour, in your case then wouldn't you also heal the enemies that we are fighting? And if we are down in healing in each separate party, then wouldn't it be plausible to simply buy some potions and wands and whatnot, and heal after combat? I've noticed that healing in combat is not very effective. Regardless, my summons require the negative energy as well to heal. In any case, why do we assume that we will be fighting? Wouldn't it make sense that going diplomatically to the elvenlands would mean that we don't have to deal with any combat at all, especially if the emissaries are elven themselves." Juan the Fifth says in response.
"But it appears that I have been overshadowed by the rest of the party sans Marco. Shame, too." Juan the Fifth says.
Maa-Djour Paani
|
Juan the Fifth, I have mastered the art of channeling to the point in which I can choose who does or doesn't receive it's healing light, and would it not be safe to assume that since 'Sevence' was so worried about the being watched and spies eavesdropping on our conversation wouldn't also be wise to believe that 'Savior' would have sent his minions in search of these keys and therefor fighting will ensue regardless of if we wish it to or not, and isn't also wise to prepare for the worst to ensure maximum survivablity? Maa-Djour says getting a little annoyed, a seasoned adventurer should know these things and pick up on inferred information.
| Natashia |
I'm going to go find lodging for the evening and head out at first light for my home. Those who wish to accompany me are more than welcome to do so, I will meet who ever is joining me back here in the morning on horseback. The trip is a long one and I prefer to ride. Natashia comments as she heads towards the door to leave Marco's house and secure lodging for the night.
| The Nameless GM |
The next morning, there is a commotion in the markets. There had been sightings of Orcs in the night. They seemed to be headed to the northern end of the Golden Rule, but so far no one has been hurt.
Natashia's horse is ready to go, eager to get on the open road.
As she journeys back to the Elven District, she notices more guards than last time.
It is now the next day. What is your character doing at Marco's house?
| Natashia |
Note to self get a ferret in game
Natashia slows her horse to come up along side one of the guards as she leaves the city. How many orcs have been spotted? If you need assistance removing them I know a few people who might be willing to assist. Natashia says while dismounting form her horse.
Maa-Djour Paani
|
After a good nights rest at the temple to Hanspur, Maa-Djour wakes early to complete his morning chores for the last time before preaching his morning sermons, thanking the high priest for having him within the temple and entering into a great new world of opportunities and adventure, the way true worshipers of Hanspur should be.
He arrives at Marco's house just as the sun rises into the sky.
| The Nameless GM |
The guard Natasia and Talmira are talking to seems a little shaken. "They were Drun Tribe Orcs. They only head this far north if they're on a raid. But their numbers were in the hundreds, not a raiding party."
The guard seems a little nervous and may have more to say.
Think you can coax it out of him?
| Natashia |
This is strange news. I was hoping to leave town today and head back to Serenity Forret. Looks like I may be delayed. Natashia replies with a tone of disappointment. She was ready to be out of Shearpoint and on her way home. Maybe, just maybe she could convince the others to accompany her now that the orcs were on the move.
| The Nameless GM |
The guard seems a little uneasy, his stance shifting a little. He looks over his shoulder and around the corner to make sure there is no one watching before he leans in close and whispers to Natashia and Talmira.
"We don't know where they were headed, but there were more than a battalion of Orcs. They have never appeared in such numbers. And they had their hideous siege engines with them, so we saw a war party. That's all I know, but you didn't hear it from me."
After telling you what he knew, he gets back to standing guard, spear at the ready. He seems a little more calm now, but still on edge.
| Natashia |
Natashia mounts her horse and rides to Marco's house. She secures her horse to the nearest post and knocks on Marco's door before entering. Greeting! There is a slight problem with us wanting to go in two separate directions. Apparently hundreds of orcs have decided to move through the area. Looks like it would be best if we went to the area first as its closer to Shearpoint, then we can go to get the silver key. Natashia suggests as she closed the door behind her and moves towards the fire.
Maa-Djour Paani
|
So to the arena's then, the dark place that shows the true nature of people hearts Maa-Djour says looking mournful as he thinks of the lives wasted for the 'entertainment' of others.
Another rock in the river of life that over time will have to be eroded away. It can always be removed faster with the help of other, maybe the light of Hanspur can speed up the erosion He says with a fake smile on their face, failing to hide his despair at the nature of humanoids, the only beings that kills each other for fun.
| Marco the MachineSmith |
Apparently Marco was still asleep when everyone got there, he is asleep on the forge that is on low heat in full travel gear. He apparently misses the whole conversation and blinks awake.
He lets out a quiet yahn and looks around.
HOW DID YOU PEOPLE GET IN MY HOUSE?!?! Wait WHY WAS I ASLEEP ON THE FORGE!?!?! WHY AM I DRESSED!?!?!?!?! Wait where is everyone going?! Don't leave me behind I don't know where Im going!
He picks up his mechanical cat and holds onto it as he is travel ready. He stands next to Juan and waits for them to go.
| Edric Axehand |
1: Will I have to fight in the pit?
2: If the answer to the 1 is yes, how many times can I kill someone when it comes to resisting being taken to the pit, before it becomes 'too much'?
3: Will I, at any point in time, be allowed to harm/kill, in a horrible manner, the pit master?
4: I find honesty is best in these discussions. If I have to go back in that pit, I WILL, kill and maim anyone between me and a way out. I have no problem being in the coliseum, but if I have to go into that pit, I will lose myself until I am out
| Talmira Dimlun |
If they should try to force you back into the Pit you can fight all you want for your freedom. It disgusts me that people would want to watch people slaughter one another for entertainment. If they should try to take you I shall also slaughter them for no one should be forced to fight against their own will.
| Natashia |
Edric if you have to fight then I shall fight along side you. Hopefully we can go in and get what we need without any issues. Is everyone ready to leave? The sooner we get the key the sooner we can ride to get the silver one. Edric I have a gift for you outside and I think you'll like what I've got. Natashia heads down to the stable to purchase a combat trained pony and military saddle for the pony. She comes back and ties the pony up next to her horse.
The pony is for Edric and he does not owe Natashia one since piece of copper.
Maa-Djour Paani
|
Maa-Djour drops a small smooth pebble into a basin of water.
One more stone in the river of my life, one more obstacle in the way to be over come he says with disgust, this whole arena and fighting for entertainment or to settle disputes has really begun to anger him.
As the stone hits the water Maa-Djour activates his Elemental Assault to freeze the water with the splash at full height. He then turns and walks outside with the others.
Seems I have a problem, I do not own a mount as I can not ride the damned things and I have no intention on learning how to
| Natashia |
Natashia exstends her left hand to Maa-Djour. In her hand are the reins to Aratoamin, Natashia's brindle stallion. Please take Aratoamin. He is combat trained and knows how to follow along on the road. I'll ride beside you and I promise I won't leave. Natashia says in a soft voice as she looks hopefully at Maa-Djour.
| Natashia |
Natashia looks over at Edric to see him laying across the back of the pony instead of sitting upright in the saddle. She shakes her head and walks over to Aratoamin. Edric watch as I get on Aratoamin. This is how you ride. Natashia swings up into the saddle while Maa-Djour still has a hold of the reigns. Now you try. Maa-Djour you're welcome to ride with me if that makes you more comfortable. Natashia smiles down at Maa-Djour in hopes that will help with his uneasiness about riding.
| Talmira Dimlun |
Talmira chuckles watching Edric with the horse. It takes time but you will get the hang or riding the horse.
She will then go up to the stables to see if she can possibly barter with the man about getting a horse for 5gp since that is the only gold she owns.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Good sir, I am in need of a horse myself to get along with my party is there anyway that I can get one that might be old or something just to keep up with my companions?
| Marco the MachineSmith |
You know...Ill just walk. I have issues with riding a horse. I still don't know if its me that doesn't like them or they don't like me. Anyway, I can't fidget with my gadgets whilst bobbing on a horse.
He is currently screwing together his blade drone together. The damn thing keeps getting loose. Damned screws.
Maa-Djour Paani
|
Thank you Natashia, that would probably be for the best Maa-Djour says offering Natashia back the reins before offering her his hand to be helped up onto the horse.
With Natashia's help Maa-Djour mounts Aratoamin behind Natashia, holding her tightly across her belly, afraid to fall off.
Marco, a wagon may assist you with fiddling with your little machines whilst travelling if you have the coin to spare for one and a driver Maa-Djour says slyly, knowing that he could easily have gone by wagon too but not wanting to let this elven woman who can show him his dreams go or be seperated from her.
| Natashia |
Natashia can feel the gentle coolness of Maa-Djour's touch though her armor. She can feel him holding on firmly around her waist. Once he is settled, Natashia nudges Aratoamin with her heals so he moves forward at a slow pace. Amandil, I'm going once around the block to make sure you're comfortable being on Aratoamin Natashia says in half elven and common.
