"Oh," she says as she begins to chuckle. "I don't think any of them will be going then, but I can check."
She walks off, promising to come find you for some first night mischief.
Kestrel. |
Kestrel loads up a plate with a tower of snacks and finds her way back over to Allison and Jason.
"Okay, so aside from the settled matter of tights, and Allison's plan to have an entire walk-in for her costume variants, toy companies are going to love you, you got any thoughts on insignia, or superhero names or anything? They might sound kinda hokey, but it helps the public understand what you're all about."
Allison Hazel, the Undying Magi |
"Get a good corporate lawyer." Allison suggested. "Maybe incorporate yourself as a business. Get protection for Intellectual Property and stop people from attaching your name, likeness, or logo to anything they want for a quick buck. Maybe hire a graphic artist... uuuuunless you can do that yourself?" she eyed Kestrel up and down, clearly of the opinion that you couldn't assume what someone had studied in the modern age.
Jason Marko |
"Oh, do you mind?" Jason asks before helping himself to a couple of the snacks Kestrel brings. "I must admit I haven't given either the costume or the insignia much thought. The name, however..."
The young man pauses for a moment, in part to swallow and in part because he feels slightly awkward. "I was thinking of going by Olympian. It seems fitting, yes? Considering my powers and their origin and all that. Or at least the powers I'm supposed to grow into..."
Jason Marko |
"Erm... The ancient Olympics had no costumes. In fact, clothing was minimal to non-existent depending on the event," Jason appears to correct her, seemingly not catching on, his own look one of innocence and sincerity. Or it could just be that the young man did catch on and is simply playing along.
"Take... hmm... wrestling, for example. Despite the very very close proximity to each other, participants were decidedly lightly clothed, to say the least. Sounds...," he pauses for a moment, deciding on the most fitting word, "...awkward, right?"
The look of innocence remains, though now an equally innocent smile has been added to it.
'Look at me bantering...,' he thinks to himself.
Allison Hazel, the Undying Magi |
"That's fair." Allison said, apparently not too bothered by the subject. "Different cultures have different standards, and I think it's good to be aware of those when possible. Definitely go for a toga design, though." She held up her fingers in a rectangle, like a photographer trying to figure out a scene. "Maybe as a symbol on the chest? Kinda hard to make that work with a bigger design. Expect to do many aerial stunts, or are you more of a stay-on-the-ground sort of hero?"

Kestral, you feel a light tap on your back and turn to find Addie with one more person in tow. He's a young man who looks clearly nervous for what he just signed up for, but at least not to the point of a deer in headlights. He stands a bit short, roughly 5'5" and is middle eastern by the looks of it.
"Okay, Muki says he wants in," Addie says, before glancing about at the group. She gestures with her fingers poiting at everyone who isn't Kestral followed by Kestral, Muki, and herself.
"Are they also...?"
Kestrel. |
"Oh, well Addy - this is Addy - could use a bit of a touch-up to her dye job. Salons are expensive and unnecessary, and frankly I favored a bit of an excursion. If the chemistry lab is stocked up to highschool standards then we should be in, dyed, and out in plenty of time to avoid problems.
"Oh, and Muki's in too."
Jason Marko |
"Aerial stunts, as you put them, will have to wait until I actually get better at flying," Jason easily admits. "Better and more than a little faster."
He takes a deep breath and smiles. "But other than that, who wouldn't want to fly if they could, right?"
"And you've done this before, Betsy? Using chemical agents and such for a do-it-yourself... dye job?"

With a quick wave goodbye from the chaperones, you all exit the building and start making your way to the Chemistry building. The distance to cover lasts a few minutes at least, and as you near the Science Center, you find a sleek building that seems to have been dumped out of a science fiction movie. And very literally dumped out as it seems one side has sunk into the earth so that the entire building is lopsided to a diagonal angle.
For the moment, it seems there is no one guarding the building, and even some students entering and exiting, seemingly walking normally until the transition to out of the building, where they have to right themselves.
DM Default |
On your first step inside the building, you get a strange shifting sense as if you've been crooked until you got here, and as you look back at everyone, you feel as you are on the normal ground and they are all somehow tilted.
The directory near the front doors indicates the chemistry stations are on the third floor, and so far the coast is clear.
Jason Marko |
"Well, it certainly doesn't take too long to get used to," Jason remarks as he too steps inside. Although he is not entirely sure why he chose to tag along -he does have his suspicions though- tag along he did, even if he has little to no intention of changing his hair color, chemically or otherwise.
DM Default |
Entering the building, you ready yourselves for the strangest sense of sliding and readjusting, but you become slightly puzzled as you feel as if you were on the normal ground. Odd. It seems the stairwell leading to the upper floors has some kind of gate of sorts, and tentatively Muki reaches out and is stopped by some kind of barrier. He looks to you, shrugging.
Kestrel. |
Expertise (Mysterious Barriers): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17 Just making up an expertise since Kestrel will roll at a +12 no matter what the applicable Expertise is
"Huh. Anyone want to run into that really hard? I'm not totally sure what kind of setup they have here, but it can't be too dangerous, right?"
DM Default |
Kestral, you take a closer look at the barrier. It's defintely one that gives solidity, but you feel there's an extra feature here should someone without proper clearance be trying to break through. It strikes you ironic, as your eyes glance over what appears to be symbology of sorts that line the threshold of the stairwell. In the building meant to expand the learning of mad science and super tech, an arcane barrier is employed to guard levels of access.
DM Default |
Allie, you could try teleporting through it, taking a look using your expertise in magic, or even try forcing your way through.
DM Default |
Yeah, go for an Expertise in magic to examine the actual magical energies or investigation for the contraption in general.
