The little goblin dashes up a flight of stairs. He drops his spear at the top to grab the door handle with one hand and raise a bar with the other. He pulls the door open, screaming in goblin:

In response to the sword-goblin's warning, a door at the far end of this room opens up and a number of goblins in varying states of dress tumble out. They armed armed with a variety of weapons. In front of them dash two ugly nearly hairless dogs.

Akorian looks to Zarabeta, a worried expression on his face, both due to Waifrin moving ahead on her own and with what sounds like additional problems for their friends.

"Maybe they've gotten in a bit over their heads?" the priest asks, "I think we should join them. I'll lead the way, if you wish. Just make sure no one comes up behind us."

Dabbler, if you don't mind? The room is 40' wide (east to west)and 25' long. The tunnel emerges near the middle of the south wall.
There is a door in the north wall directly across from the tunnel. The stairs run up the west wall.

Half a dozen goblins are pouring out of the opposite door led by the two goblin dogs. Behind them stalks a goblin twice the size of his brethren.
Some of the goblins pause to adjust their clothing or armor, but two of them plunge into the fray.

Marius misses the goblin on the stairs and he skips into the upstairs room.

Raven misses his target and the dog snaps at the elf's forearm.

Allergic Reaction (Ex) A goblin dog's dander is highly irritating to all creatures save those with the goblinoid subtype. A non-goblinoid creature damaged by a goblin dog's bite, who deals damage to a goblin dog with a natural weapon or unarmed attack, or who otherwise comes into contact with a goblin dog (including attempts to grapple or ride the creature) must make a DC 12 Fortitude save or break out in an itching rash. A creature affected by this rash takes a –2 penalty to Dexterity and Charisma for 1 day (multiple allergic reactions do not stack). Remove disease or any magical healing removes the rash instantly. This is a disease effect. The save DC is Constitution-based.

Loathed by men and beasts alike, goblin dogs are ugly, stinking, craven, and foul-tempered. It's no surprise that goblins find kindred spirits in these shunned, disgusting beasts. Constantly itching, afflicted with a species-wide mange exacerbated by prolific dander, even the healthiest goblin dog looks sickly and starved.

Despite its name, the goblin dog is in fact a species of rodent grown monstrously large. Their long-legged shape and proclivity to hunt and run in packs earned them their popular name, a name that many goblins take issue with, as it galls the average goblin to consider these, their favored mounts, having anything at all to do with actual dogs. Of course, being goblins, they haven't bothered to come up with alternate names for goblin dogs. Perhaps they don't realize they can.

Contact with a goblin dog's infested, mangy hide causes most other creatures to break out into hives, a condition known as “goblin rash.” Goblinoids seem to be immune to this affliction, and are fond of keeping goblin dogs as guardians and mounts.

Despite their skin conditions and disorders, goblin dogs are highly resistant to disease. Their favored food is carrion—the riper, the better. That many goblin tribes let their goblin dogs run free in their lairs is the single reason most goblin dens aren't filthier than they actually are; constantly hungry, a goblin dog eats anything it can chew that it finds left behind by other, more discerning palates.

A goblin dog is 5 feet long but weighs only 75 pounds.

Sorry. Not what I meant. I was just blathering. Mostly what it comes down to is that I need to get more organized. My notes on tiny scraps of paper method worked back when I ran RL games, with PbP record-keeping has to be more enduring and easily portable. I am forever losing my notes or leaving them at work or home. So record-keeping is a pain in the butt. That's why I like Marius right now. Bam! It's dead. Easy.

They have to make a DC 15 Fortitude save or become stunned for 1 round, as well.

Raven skewers the lizard just behind its foreleg. The beast curls toward the elf, opens its mouth, and expires.

Akorian's spell booms against the staired wall. The lowest and third goblins on the stairs drop their weapons and clap their hands over their ears. The second and fourth also raise their hands to their ears, but have the presence of mind to retain their weapons.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

Waifrin and Zara. Then top of next round.

The Exchange

F Human Wizard (Conjuror) 5

Another hissing serpentine rivulet of acid flies from Zarabeta's hand, to arc towards another goblins oversized head.

ranged touch attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
acid damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

"Nice thrust," Waifrin comments dryly, surprised that the lizard had managed to attack at all.

Waifrin closes her a eyes for a moment centres herself, disciplining her mind and focussing her passions.

Regaining psionic focus, full round action.

ROUND 7

Marius moves to A3 and thrusts at the unarmed and stunned goblin

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26(plus his target has a -2 to AC and loses all dex bonus due to stun..so I think that might just be a hit)

Damage1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Male Elf Brawler (Snakebite Striker) 1/Fighter (Weapon Master) 4; AC 18, touch 13, flat-footed 15, CMD 21 (22 vs. disarm and sunder when wielding longsword); HP 34/34; VP 3/3; Fort +6*, Ref +7*, Will +3* (+2 vs. fear, +1 vs. effects targeting longsword); Initiative +7; Perception +13 (darkvision 60 ft., low-light vision), Sense Motive +11

I should think that with a roll like that, Marius would hit regardless of penalties to his foe. :-)

Raven moves along Marius, taking advantage of Akorian's spell's effect on the goblins and pressing the attack as well.

Melee attack (masterwork rapier) 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Damage (piercing) 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Sneak attack damage 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8

Not sure if Raven can get to any of the goblins considering where they are located in relation to the stairs, but here is an attack roll anyway. Sneak attack is also included just in case his target is stunned and denied its Dexterity.

Zarabeta send another goblin into a pain-iduced shreiking fit. Waifrin prepares herself for some evil genius plan. End round 7.

Round 8.

Marius shreds a helpless goblin.
Raven takes advantage of the goblin's disadvantage to dispatch another.

Akorian?

Male Human (Chelish-Azlanti) Cleric 4

Assuming there's another goblin to hit and room to maneuver...

Akorian moves forward to hold the line with Marius and Raven. Pressing his shield into the smaller goblin before him, he reaches over to bring down his morningstar once more.

Move action to get into melee...
Attack action with +1 morningstar... 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Damage, if applicable... 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

"Keep pressure on them!" he shouts encouragement to his friends.

Maps, etc...

Minor edit from last round. Zara's acid drops its target. I forgot to add in Akorian's sonic damage.

The last goblin on the stairs may be bleeding from nose and ears, but he still has a spear and is spritely enough. He sidesteps Akorian's mace and it splinters the tread at his feet.

From upstairs comes a deep commanding goblin voice. The last goblin on the stairs parries its way back to the ground floor.

Raven, Marius, and AKorian:

Spoiler:
Ranged along the side of the stairs you see this last goblin swing past a goblin so big and solidly built he might be mistaken for a dwarf. A tuft of white hair hangs from the big goblin's chin. One hand holds a gleaming gold shield; the other, a meaty battle ax. The big goblin steps to his left and the ceiling blocks further sight of him.

Once again you hold the field uncontested.

"I am going to take a wild guess and say that that one is the infamous Whitechin," Raven quips as he almost absentmindedly wipes his thin blade on the closest fallen goblin's garments.

Guessing a bit at positions, here's where I think we all are.

"What have they done to those poor dogs? They look like they've been shaved..." Zarabeta mutters, as the sight of the goblin dogs.

Liberty's Edge

Female Human Wilder 5th | AC13 | HP39 | Str 10 | Dex 15 | Con 13 | PP37/37

Waifrin glances at the dogs and notes the long rat-like incisors.

"I don't think those are dogs," she replies, her attention mainly on the door opposite.
