Marius calmly skewers the fleeing vermin

"Well..you can't say we lead boring lives he says.."Akorian I think a little channeling might be in order here once I make sure of things.."
He moves among the fallen ensuring they are all properly demised.

OK. If no one is pursuing the drummer and other little guy trough the north door, we can drop out of rounds. Once again the field is yours. If you are not pursuing, there is further commentary, including metagame info in the spoiler:
Furnishings recapped:
Marius' head clears the floor and he can look to his right. The room is as long as the basement room and 15' wider. At the far end is a raised dais with a heavy brass bound chair with red pillows and a long yellow cloth draped over the back. Various goblins including the drummer flank the throne.
The goblins have been busy here. The ceiling has been cut away so that this room is two stories tall. Whitechin stands in the center of a shallow circular sand pit under a tremendous crystal chandelier. Against the far wall is a slightly raised dais. Goblins of various descriptions are ranged along the dais and side walls of the room.
Additional furnishing details -- there is a chest and two buckets on the dais near the throne. The drum near the throne is a big carved wood affair. It doesn't look like goblin work, more like something from the jungle lands far to the south. There is also a low cabinet near the drum on the dais.
Marius Goddon |
"Does anyone know if there was a bounty from the council for Whitechin?" Marius asks the group.."It would seem we have rid the city of a significant threat for a while anyway.Unfortunately Goblins are like weeds you have to get the lot or they spring up again.Still maybe they won't be so organised next time.Organised Goblins I mean what is the world coming to"
"Raven, I think that chest warrants more investigation don't you?"
Waifrin Goddon |
"Channeling ... yes, good plan," Waifrin mutters. She pauses to run through a meditative exerces regain psionic focus and winces at her bruised ribs.
"They were tenacious. Sorry I couldn't help with Whitechin earlier, Marius, I couldn't get much of a clear shot."
Zarabeta |
Zarabeta takes up the two healing potions and hands one to Marius and the other to Raven. "These are healing potions, more powerful than the weaker sort we used back in the day. Save them for when Akorian is engaged in combat and cannot assist you."
She smiles at Marius' consternation at the thought of organized goblins. "They are a cowardly and superstitious lot. Having seen Whitechin fall may cause them to think twice before organizing in this manner again."
Akorian Henderthane |
Once Marius completes the grisly task of ensuring none of the goblins survive, Akorian calls upon Milani's aid to mend the wounds of his allies.

"There we are." He sounds satisfied. "Right as rain and good as new. The Everbloom clearly favors our actions here."
Raevanis "Raven" Dwin'Alir |
"Indeed it does," Raven readily agrees as he makes his way into the room. "I will check the room if you do not mind, especially that cabinet and that chest. Not sure if I want to see what is in those buckets though..."
"Care to take a look at the goblins, ladies and gents?"
Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Cabinet:
Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13, +2 to locate traps
Disable Device 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31, +2 to disarm traps
Chest:
Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13, +2 to locate traps
Disable Device 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22, +2 to disarm traps
As far as the Disable Device checks go, if there are no traps but are locked, Raven can take 20 to open locks, giving him a check of 33.

The big goblins including Whitechin are equipped with masterwork weapons, shields and armor. Plate for Whitechin. Banded and Breastplate for his boys. A cool dwarven waraxe, a spear, and a longsword.
No traps for Raven. The buckets hold juicy giant lizard treats. The cabinet holds a large empty bag (that could hold the big drum) a flute, an instrument that looks like a narrow guitar without a neck, a dozen masks and a other few oddments. The chest looks to be Whitechin's largesse supply. It's many GP worth of Silver and copper coins, and a bag with some shiny stones and three red cut stones.

I make that roughly 473gp once sold for half value in weapons, 750gp in armour, 225gp in shields for 1448gp total.
"This gear's worth a bit," Waifrin comments as she strips the dead of their weapons, shields and armour and packages it together.

"I agree," Akorian notes as he examines the corpse of the other dead goblin, "There's definitely some resale value in this stuff. Looks like knocking off these goblins comes with some fringe benefits."
Marius Goddon |
Marius packs up the armour and weapons into an efficient bundle for carrying..
Dabbler you did work out the armour and weapons as small sized didn't you?"
"Well are we done here because if we are I think it;s time to get some sleep...we can use the same place as last time"
Zarabeta |
"These gems are pretty much worthless. A few gold apiece, maybe." Zarabeta says, tossing them back in the pouch and putting them with the other items being assembled for resale.
"Worthless." Uqabi repeats in a mournful tone, although he follows the sparkly red stones' movements carefully as they enter the pouch, head cocked as if watching a tasty mouse.
Waifrin Goddon |
Dabbler you did work out the armour and weapons as small sized didn't you?"
According to my core rulebook the cost for medium and small armour and weapons is the same.
"Shall we search these doors, just in case there's anything we've missed?" Waifrin suggests, carefully poking at a door with a goblin spear. "I'm not worried about other goblins, but if there are victims of theirs still alive here, or other caches of stuff they may have stolen ..."
Last Vestige of Aroden |
Whitechin and sons qualified as medium sized anyway. (I told you they were big.) I'm not going to have you go through the rest of the place room by room. The remaining goblins hoof it, leaving behind a couple fiendish traps which Raven detects and disarms. No prisoners. Lots of odd random loot. On the second floor are a big room more richly furnished than the others and two other rooms of medium grade. The good loot is in there. All told you can find 100 pp. 400 gp. 2700 sp. and 3400 cp. Plus 500 gp in jewelry and light furnishings. Hauling it all back will be a chore. What time was rehearsal in the morning?
Waifrin Goddon |
"I'n good for a few more shots, but after that I'll need to rest."
I make that another 1670gp in gold, silver and platinum.
Waifrin will load up on copper if she has the spare capacity - copper is ubiquitous, doesn't raise questions of wealth and is easy to distribute - if the people she knows produce gold or even silver, it's unusual.
Last Vestige of Aroden |
Akorian retires to his own house for the morning.
The end of night and dawn passes smoothly. It's midmorning when Morosino slips into the safe house and wakes you. "I've got a message from Akorian. His sister has gotten into some kind of trouble in Egorian and he's gone to help. He's not sure when he'll be back. "
Last Vestige of Aroden |
Zarabeta thanks Morosino for the information, and offers him a cup of something to drink, by way of gratitude.
Morosino accepts eagerly. He hangs out in the kitchen, awkwardly silent, and watches Zarabeta's every move.
"Well, we had best get to the theatre," she grimaces, "I think this director wants me to be a 'star' of some sort."
Yes, he does. He thinks you're a natural.
Marius grimaces as well.."Damn he was going to get me my Mithril weaponry.." is his only comment.
I'm sure Raven can suggest a place for you to get a fair deal.
Aside, You've got many many demon branded wooden "coins" you all had been excited about doing some sort of demonstration with.

Aside, You've got many many demon branded wooden "coins" you all had been excited about doing some sort of demonstration with.
OOC:
That was actually something Akorian had planned to use. Perhaps you could indulge me by making sure he carries out his plan before leaving Westcrown for Egorian? Basically, I wanted to further embarrass the Hellknights by soliciting Raven's aid and violating the night-time curfew to glue the "coins" to side of their barracks...or some other suitably public edifice of their power in Westcrown...arranging the coins so they spelled out a message announcing our triumph over the tiefling bandits, i.e....
"BASTARDS NO MORE"
...and then paint a symbol of an H with a halo over it or something to signify the Heavensent accomplished that task rather than the Hellknights.
Raevanis "Raven" Dwin'Alir |
"Ah, yes," Raven remarks, "I had almost forgotten about the play." A brief pause for dramatic effect before he adds with a smile, "Almost."
"We may as well get there. As far as the loot is concerned, I should be able to find someone, probably a very particular someone, to buy the weapons and armor from us."
"Before we do so, we should see what can be of use to us, of course. And let us not forget these," he says, reminding his friends of a rather crude-looking knife with a blade of platinum, as well as a ring and a dagger from the goblin spellcaster they faced at the start of their little foray into the goblin tenement.
Waifrin Goddon |
"Oh yes - we are helping a friend of Raven's put on a play," Waifrin rolls her eyes. "Of course the director thinks I would make a wonderful actor," she sighs. "I seem to have this effect on men, I cannot deny it is useful some times, but oh it would be nice to have a break."
Waifrin Goddon |
Waifrin explains what she knows quite cheerfully as she readies herself for the day.
"Myself, I think the play isn't going to work - the audience want blood and gore, and frankly I don't see what's in it for us helping a play that glorifies Asmodeans."
Zarabeta |
Zarabeta attempts to back up Waifrin's discouragement of Morosino's interest in the play. "It is a brutish thing, of interest only to the jaded upperclass that want to howl for blood like starving dogs and yet pretend it is a sophisticated historical allegory."
Take 10 Diplomacy (+9 to the check) to make the play seem as unattractive as possible, perhaps with some sort of bonus because it really is kind of an ugly concept...
Last Vestige of Aroden |
Morosino smiles, "Thespians playing coy. Who'd have thought? Let's see a beautiful star, blood and gore, Azmodeans, upperclass sophisticated historical allegory.... You've got the lead in a remake of The Dragon's Devil. Who's directing?"
Raven:
I can chat as long as you like.
Raevanis "Raven" Dwin'Alir |
"You seem to know a thing or two about plays, Morosino," Raven remarks in a friendly tone, a smile accompanying the comment. "Perhaps you could use some help with that rewrite, Waifrin? What do you think? I am willing to bet he has quite a healthy dose of imagination, this one."
Waifrin Goddon |
"Well, I wondered if someone should happen to have a more original version, say, written in Old Azlanti - which I happen to know - then he might adopt it instead," Waifrin grins briefly. "Thing is, how do you change it enough that it doesn't elevate the wretched Asmodeans, but keeps the nobs happy?" she sighs glumly.
