Hal Quickshot
|
Hal should be about four squares north, I believe I wanted him to be as far north as possible. If it's all right I'll move him accordingly.
Hal will shoot at the minotaur, then move west, staying out if it's range.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Ickeckess
|
Ickekess grips his shield in one hand, and his whiplike blade in the other, beginning to whirl it around, and snapping it at the minotaur several times both looking for an opening, and maneuvering around to ensure that his teammates have clear shots at the minotaur.
5 foot step so that I'm not providing any cover. Now the tough choice, attack or try one last time to stare at it before it squishes me.
Ickeckess considers his next move, knowing it might be his last. He begins to sway as if he is going to try and lull the minotaur again, but quickly whips his Urami towards the foul creature, hoping to catch it off guard.
attack, inspire, bless: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 15
damage, inspire: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 8
Crosses fingers and hopes for the best. (Really hoping that the archers can do enough because I don't like my odds.)
| Chyrone |
The minotaur was actually in melee range of both Hal and Ickeckess.
But sorry, it didn't move in a provoking way.
As Hal moves away, the minotaur gets an aoo.
Axe!: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27Dmg: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4) + 6 = 20
The strike comes down hard, and Hal becomes the third to fall from the bullman's dreadful axe.
Can i get a con roll DC 10 to stabilize please.
1d20 +con bonus - negative HP.
Ickeckess does hit the minotaur in return, a good hit to be sure.
Hal hits the minotaur as well.
Ajaline
| Chyrone |
The Arrow finds its mark, and the minotaur roars.
Heavily bloodied, it looks between both Ajaline and Ickeckess.
====================
Minotaur, round 4
The minotaur swings his axe at Ickeckess, fury affecting his aim.
Greataxe, power attack: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 9 - 2 = 18Dmg: 3d6 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3) + 6 + 6 = 23
The brutal axe comes down, cutting down the brave nagaji.
The minotaur moves towards the two remaining adventurers.
..and ends up between Ajaline and Draklor. The odor of beast and the iron of blood hangs thick.
This is it.....
Ajaline & Draklor
Ajaline
|
Ajaline steps back from the onrushing minotaur and then the horror and frustration of the situation fills him with outrage. With a face of pure anger he yells at the beast. "You mindless mass of murdering horror! There is not place for you in this world and yet you have dared to come against us. We would have left you in peace but your brainless rage has left no room for reason. Cower now before your masters!"
Intimidate: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
five foot step followed by a Demoralize Opponent attempt.
Draklor Ribiera
|
Draklor, too, steps back, continuing his chant, but also taking a moment to let out a vicious roar. His small size and the ground, littered with his fallen allies, however, causes him to have no effect.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 7 - 4 = 4
I provoke from a ranged attack as well, so let's wait and see who he tries to drop. Ajaline, do you have a wand too?
| Chyrone |
Both pathfinders make gestures at the minotaur, but the surprisingly angry glare in Ajaline's eyes, are just enough to make the minotaur think.
Draklor's attempt is ignored.
=======================
Minotaur, round 5
"MRUU!!!"
The big beast makes an overhead swing, seeking to end both of them.
The one upsetting him first.
Axe vs Ajaline, power attack, shaken: 1d20 + 9 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 9 - 2 - 2 = 23
Dmg: 3d6 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 3, 5) + 6 + 6 = 21
The attack is enough to leave a terrible wound on Ajaline, who falls to the ground.
Axe vs Draklor, power attack, shaken: 1d20 + 4 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 4 - 2 - 2 = 7
The axe's backswing against Draklor misses him, but the beast still has one weapon left.
Between the swings, it steps 5ft closer to Draklor, and tries to gore him.
Horns, power attack, shaken: 1d20 + 4 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 4 - 2 - 2 = 17
Dmg: 1d6 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 4 = 7
The horns hit the poor fox in his flank and shoulder, but it was not enough to take him down, miraculously.
Draklor (4/11)
Draklor Ribiera
|
Draklor dodges to the left, then the right, trying to get to the cave and shoot safely from there.
Withdrawing. He gets an AoO after the first square, let's hope it misses. If it does, we win, if not, we lose.
Draklor Ribiera
|
I know, but my acrobatics is +3, including ACP. I don't trust that. He gets one AoO which, if he's still shaken, he needs to roll a 17 on. If he is not shaken, he needs a 15. Better odds, and I'm pretty much out of other options.
Draklor Ribiera
|
Okay, I'm dumb :) I just realized there was no reason not to try the Acrobatics check as opposed ti just withdrawing.
Draklor makes to tumble past the minotaur on his way to safety, hoping his living companions do not bleed out.
Acrobatics, ACP: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 5 - 2 = 14
Didn't think so, but you were right, it was worth a shot.
| Chyrone |
Acrobatics can save your bacon. Fur, in your case.
Greataxe aoo, power attack: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 - 2 = 9
Draklor squats and makes a half crawled leap down the tunnel.
The sudden motion confuses the minotaur, who sees his prey evade his reach.
===============
Minotaur, round 6
The minotaur is too big to fit in the narrow entrance, but his formidable reach is just enough to make attacks against Draklor's current position. He steps 5ft closer, and starts to swing his axe.
Greataxe, power attack: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 9 - 2 = 23
(Sigh), sorry Draklor. :(
Dmg: 3d6 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4) + 6 + 6 = 23
The mean beast fells Draklor as well.
With all its prey down a bloody mess, it makes the slow retreat to the Woods, leaving some faintly breathing people in his wake.
------------------------
Not how any of us wanted this to end. Let's see if either Hal or Ajaline stabilizes. I did this in a previous game as well, with all but 1 KO, who bluffed himself as dead. A stabilize can work on a nat 20.
Hal: 1d20 + 1 - 10 ⇒ (5) + 1 - 10 = -4
Hal: 1d20 + 1 - 11 ⇒ (6) + 1 - 11 = -4
Hal bled to death.
Ajaline, would you care to roll for your stabilizes please.
Draklor Ribiera
|
Oh, I didn't notice I would be in reach there if he moved closer. I would've moved farther away, but I guess that happened.
| Chyrone |
And so folks....
1) Keep your eyes on the combat map when planning to get to a safe distance.
2) Ask others to move you if you're on a Phone :P
A flash of a fight gone horribly wrong, flashes through the team's mind, after both Janira and Gregor were cut down. Seeing the images of their own demises, their senses seem to snap to very focused.
The minotaur is weakened by ranged attacks, and Ickeckess seals the deal by hitting the beast square in the artery in the neck.
Combat ends.
Hal Quickshot
|
Hal stood, stock still. This was not at all as it should be. Their mission had barely started, and two of their number were slain. They should have listened.
Hal spoke to his allies.
"We should give them a proper burial, don't you think?"
| Chyrone |
That could also be arranged when you'd head back.
For now, the team heads into the tunnel.
The narrow tunnel twists and turns for several hundred feet before slowly opening to a wider passage.
A large hole spans the cave’s width and stretches ten feet down the path. At the bottom of the pit lies a small bundle of cloth.
1d6 ⇒ 6
Draklor Ribiera
|
"Hold on, I can scan it. Aurus!" Draklor mutters an arcane word, and notices magic clinging to the cloak. "Definitely magical, I'm not sure what exactly it does, though."
Well, I am, but I won't spoil it. Also, I seem to have forgotten to put a rank in Spellcraft, so I'll wait for Ajaline to tell us.
Ajaline
|
Ajaline takes the cloak from Hal. "Ok. Let me take a look at this." He shakes it out and then applies some of his arcane knowledge to try to determine what sort of magic imbues the cloth. He notices some flecks of silver threaded through the weave.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30 I'm assuming I get the bonus for identifying magical properties.
"Ah yes, typical." He hands the cloak back to Hal. "This is a cloak of resistance. It will offer some small amount magical protection for the wearer."
I don't want to say +1 to all saves because that sounds so meta.
Hal Quickshot
|
"Leave one end of the rope here. I'll jump across and take it to the other side to help you if needed."
Acrobatics (Untrained): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Hal soars through the air rather more majestically than you would have thought, crossing the gap easily and landing lightly.
Where the heck was that against the minotaur??!!
Draklor Ribiera
|
"Could you push that over, Hal?" Draklor asks. "I think I could make it across, but I'd also rather not leave it up to chance."
| Chyrone |
As you continue afterwards....
The tunnels continue on, leading deeper beneath the Kortos Mounts until they eventually open into a large cavern. What must have once been beautifully carved reliefs and inscriptions have since weathered heavily, their features dulled and softened to the point that it is hard to distinguish what each once depicted.
A wide tunnel exits the cavern on its far side, and blue-burning torches line the passageway’s walls.
Scattered throughout the cave are inscriptions.
1d12 ⇒ 51d11 ⇒ 21d10 ⇒ 81d9 ⇒ 4
All but 4 scenes accompanying them are illegible. Those that are, are difficult to decipher due to their eroded state.
You can make 4 separate checks each, 1 for each scene.
This is a DC 15 Kn. Religion or History check. Alternatively, you can make a perception or appraise at a -2 penalty.
The language on it is a mix of Aquan & Azlanti, you get a +2 bonus on your check for each language you know.
Hal Quickshot
|
Perception: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 5 - 2 = 19
Perception: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 5 - 2 = 22
Perception: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 5 - 2 = 12
Perception: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 - 2 = 11
Ajaline
|
Perception: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 4 - 2 = 3
Perception: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 - 2 = 7
Perception: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 4 - 2 = 13
Perception: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 4 - 2 = 10
Ajaline walks through the tunnels and caverns but barely notices the carvings on the walls.
Draklor Ribiera

Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
HAHAHAHAHAHA
Draklor thinks back to his years of religious studies back in Najagor, but remembers little of importance. He is still too distracted to take his mind off of the fallen, and they haunt his dice.
Ickeckess
|
Doing some catchup here, as I stopped checking this one daily and totally missed the retcon. That was a really bad dream. I thought I was cut in half.
Ickickess walks into the chamber dragging a couple of large packs and an oversized axe. It looks like he has been grabbing items from the dead while the others were figuring out how to get across the pit. He throws the gear across looking at ways to get across himself. He hisses, "how did you all get acrossssss thisssss infernal pit."
