OK, we need a plan before we head in on the suicide mission. My thoughts are we are there to simply rescue Ruperta and Slumper, and then get out. I don't see how we can put out enough damage to stop that thing without the two of them, so getting them back should be the priority. Early thoughts are to cast Magic Circle Against Evil on the group, then Teleport in. I can then cast Undeath Ward as soon as we get there. When the spectre comes running, I can try Halt Undead from my staff, and Ectoplasmic Web. Perhaps the strong Eidolon can be rescuing the others while we try to hold the undead off? I can't do much at all to damage it, so if Sial can cast a few damaging spells, that might keep us upright while the plan is being carried out? thoughts?

Paxs |

I like the plan, i also have protection vs evil I can cast on Thrak since he will most likely be moving away from us to rescue the two of them. Kind of wish i had taken some other spells :)I am very swiss army knife just not for this particular situation. Do you think haste would be beneficial to cast on us before we go in as well? I cannot see how it could hurt.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Pai Kromnite |

I haven't heard any crazy amount of disagreement, so I guess Pai is ready too. I haven't seen Corbyn post in a few days...is he okay and ready with the plan? If so, let's do it.
Pai casts Magic Circle, and is ready for the Teleport. She can cast the spell, if Sial want sot save his for an emergency exit.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Sial returns a few moments later, walking slightly tenderly. He smiles in a business-like fashion and nods to Asyra, who gathers around you. He looks to each of you and raises an eyebrow, waiting for your signal to begin. He touches Paxs and murmurs a prayer, then touches Pai and murmurs the same prayer. He then murmurs a different prayer and a shimmer in the air appears about 10 feet from him. He pulls forth a scroll and reads it and the air around you is suddenly a blur of whirling images.
When it clears, you stand in the ballroom. The music is loud and somewhat disjointed. Ruperta and Slumper dance among the spectral dancers, while above the specter of Death watches. Among the spectral dancers you can see the form of Laori dancing with a pale man. The specter of Death notices you, then swoops in!

Pai Kromnite |

Pai casts Undeath Ward, happy she had the opportunity to act before the undead.
10' radius emanation. DC 22 Will to break through the barrier. If successful, it will take 3d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 4) = 13 damage. And probably kill us...so no pressure.
"Try to get them out," Pai yells. She also puts in her ear plugs, if they were able to be procured during the shopping trip.

Paxs |

Thrak dashes in and attempts to pull Ruperta out of the dancing throng. While Paxs summons some black tentacles in the path of the monster.
He has a 30 str, what should i roll for that?
Duration 1 round/level (D)
Saving Throw: none; Spell Resistance: no
This spell causes a field of rubbery black tentacles to appear, burrowing up from the floor and reaching for any creature in the area.
Every creature within the area of the spell is the target of a combat maneuver check made to grapple each round at the beginning of your turn, including the round that black tentacles is cast. Creatures that enter the area of effect are also automatically attacked. The tentacles do not provoke attacks of opportunity. When determining the tentacles' CMB, the tentacles use your caster level as their base attack bonus and receive a +4 bonus due to their Strength and a +1 size bonus (16). Roll only once for the entire spell effect each round and apply the result to all creatures in the area of effect.
If the tentacles succeed in grappling a foe, that foe takes 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9points of damage and gains the grappled condition. Grappled opponents cannot move without first breaking the grapple. All other movement is prohibited unless the creature breaks the grapple first. The black tentacles spell receives a +5 bonus on grapple checks made against opponents it is already grappling, but cannot move foes or pin foes. Each round that black tentacles succeeds on a grapple check, it deals an additional 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 points of damage. The CMD of black tentacles, for the purposes of escaping the grapple, is equal to 10 + its CMB.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Pai casts her spell, a pale glow settling around her party! Thrak rushes forward, and grabs Ruperta in his jaws, surprisingly gently and pulls her back to where the other wait!Ruperta, make another will save with a +2 morale bonus!
Paxs casts his spell, but the waving tentacles seem to pass through the specter of Death. Death flies toward Pai, but seems to hit a barrier as it does! CL check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20 It presses, and like a bubble popping, it slides through! CL check: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 11 + 2 = 20 It seems to hit another barrier, Pai's spell, but it too fails against the hideous Spectre. Its scythe flies toward Pai! 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (18) + 19 = 37 hitting for 2d6 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5 damage plus 1d8 ⇒ 5 Constitution drain!
Sial snarls and casts defensively! Concentration: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (10) + 16 = 26, snapping off a spell! CL check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19, but the blast of white light fizzles as it hits the spectre...
Asyra's chains flash! Chain: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (15) + 17 = 32, Chain: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30, Chain: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (11) + 17 = 28 and Chain: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27, all land, dealing 8d4 + 16 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 3, 2, 4) + 16 = 42 damage! The spectre takes damage and its empty gaze falls upon the chain devil!
Corbyn, you're up!

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Ruperta can act on her initiative and has all her previously prepared spells!
Corbyn will be posting later, so let's go onto Round 2! Ruperta, Paxs, Thrak and Pai are up!

Ruperta of Hetzau |

Ruperta shrieks at the sight of the ethereal form, grabs her Holy Symbol and prays for Desna protection.
"Night Butterfly, please protect our dreams from nightmares!"
She casts Blessing of Fervor affecting all of her allies.
She stands up, and looks over for Slumper.
"Slumper! Where is he!"
She takes the stand up as a swift action without provoking an attack of opportunity Blessing of Fervor bonus.
He sees him dancing, and she teleports next to him.
"Hang on my love!"
How far was Slumper for her, to deduct it from her Dimensional Hop limit?
Blessing of Fervor:
Each round for the duration of this spell, each of your allies can choose one of the following bonuses for that round at the beginning of its turn (their choice).
* Increase its speed by 30 feet.
* Stand up as a swift action without provoking an attack of opportunity.
* Make one extra attack as part of a full attack action, using its highest base attack bonus.
* Gain a +2 bonus on attack rolls and a +2 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves.
* Cast a single spell of 2nd level or lower as if it were an enlarged, extended, silent, or still spell.
These effects are not cumulative with similar effects, such as those provided by haste or a speed weapon, nor do they actually grant an extra action, so you can't use it to cast a second spell or otherwise take an extra action in the round. Blessing of fervor does not stack with haste.

Pai Kromnite |

DM, can I 5' step and get out of the range of the spectre? If so, then the following.....
Pai takes a 5' step away from the undead, and uses her Staff to cast Halt Undead.
DC 19 Will save or immobile for 11 rounds, or until attacked.
If Pai sees the spell work, she will alert her teammates...

Corbyn Barrett |

In round 1, Corbyn attacks with everything he can unleash.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Attack 2: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Attack 3: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Attack 4: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Attack 5: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Paxs |

Thrak charges back into the fray and pounces on the specter.
Taking the +2 attack and AC
Bite 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31, 2d6 + 1d6 + 23 ⇒ (3, 5) + (3) + 23 = 34
Bite 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (15) + 19 = 34, 2d6 + 1d6 + 23 ⇒ (4, 2) + (5) + 23 = 34

Rend (Ex): 1d8 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Slumper is 40' away.
CL check: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 11 + 2 = 28 Pai's spell has no effect!
Corbyn's attacks lay into the spectre and seem to do full damage to it! Thrak snarls and leaps upon the spectre! His attacks all seem to hit, but they don't do full damage. Still, it's enough to rip the specter into small ethereal pieces. Suddenly the music stops and the spectral dancers disappear, including the soul of Laori!
Slumper shakes his head and looks confused. All he can remember is dancing?
Combat over!

Pai Kromnite |

Good Lord, that thing was terrifying! Great job, guys...I guess we could damage it, lol!
Pai ran over and hugged her two friends that had been sucked in by the monstrous undead. "I'm so glad you two are okay. That thing was just as bad as that mean ole dragon! I wonder if this was one of the Soul Pillars, or whatever those things were called?"
After embracing her friends, Pai turns to Sial and his group. "I might not be all that cracked up about you all, the whole time, but thanks for helping save my friends. I will donate gold to see Laori is raised, if you have someone who can cast the spell. She was my .....friend, too. I want to see her well."
Pai is still down five Con, if anyone has a Lesser Restoration laying around.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Oh no, this is drain. You'll need Restoration.
Sial kneels next to Laori and begins to murmur prayers. But to his surprise, nothing happens! "Her soul will not return. This place has trapped it. Without stopping the evil here, I cannot raise her."

Pai Kromnite |

"So, if we can stop the baddies here, then we can try to raise her? We have to do it then," Pai calls out defiantly.
Someone help me with the math on my Con drain then, so I can make sure things are correct. Do I lose 2 HP per level? And my Fort saves wouldbe adjusted down as well, right?

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Ability drain actually reduces the relevant ability score. Modify all skills and statistics related to that ability. This might cause you to lose skill points, hit points, and other bonuses. Ability drain can be healed through the use of spells such as restoration.

Ruperta of Hetzau |

Ruperta embraces and kisses Slumper.
"I was so worried for a second! I am glad you are ok!"
She goes to Laori and shakes her head.
"We won't let her soul stay trapped for long. We will free her, as well as all the other lost souls here."
Finally she reaches into her Handy Haversack and pulls a scroll. She calls Pai.
"Stay still, and let's Desna work her boons over you, my dear friend."
She reads sweet works from the scroll, magic words of soothing and healing, after which she touches Pai.
She uses her Restortion scroll on Pai, to heal the Con Drain.
"Do you feel better now?"

Pai Kromnite |

"I shouldn't have doubted that you could do Wonders, Ruperta! I feel much better. If you could memorize that spell tomorrow, Sial could probably use a casting of that. Also, is that undead gone for good, or do we have to preform some sort of ritual?"

Ruperta of Hetzau |

"Yes, I have, and I even have the required diamond dust. I hope no one complains we use if on Sial. About the creature..."
Ruperta tries to remember whatever she knows about it...
Knowledge (Planes): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Knowledge (Religion): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

A search reveals very little, but magical detection finds something hidden under the floor. Ripping up the dance floor reveals the long-dead corpse of a warlord, identifiable by his coat of arms as Sir Echolt Crommerand of Tamrivena. He wears +2 Full Plate armor, carries a +1 tower shield and wields his +1 holy cold iron longsword. Sial frowns and remembers him as the general who lead the troops along side the hero who slew Kazavon.
You also discover a secret door that leads outside to the wind-lashed rocks around the castle, a bolt-hole no doubt. It appears that you have explored all of the ground floor that you can, and the only way now is up.

Ruperta of Hetzau |

"Tomorrow I will pray for Desna to help us undo the creature's damage, let's continue investigating this place, and freeing the poor souls held here, including Laori. Let's go up."
Who is keeping track of the loot? Pai?

Pai Kromnite |

I haven't been, but let's think. Have we gotten anything since we got the dragon's treasure? Nothing I can think of. Anyone else remember any?
"Look at that sword! That is a weapon that could definitely strike fear into an evildoer! Slumler, Corbyn, can either of you weild that appropriately?"

Slumper |

loot
"Longsword is not my specialty, I can use in a pinch as I used some in the Aren...err war." Slumper trys to quickly cover up his mistake looking at his friends... He looks to Paxs to help fill in the conversation.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

After a discussion on the loot, you gather the items and head back to the courtyard, where you saw stairs going upward. This double door of bronze is so tarnished that it appears almost black. Cast in bas-relief on its exterior are gruesome images of devils and priests cavorting among the corpses and tortured souls of the damned. A skull and spiked chain overlook the entire scene from the center of the doors. A heavy wheel is set into the center of each door. Examination of the door reveals that it has been stone shaped to seal it; the only way in is to break the door down.

Ruperta of Hetzau |

Ruperta approaches the door and puts her hand on it. She concentrates to see what is on the other side.
Uses her door sight ability.
Door Sight (Su) [PFAPG 90]: You can lay your hand upon any surface and see what is on the other side, as if using clairvoyance. Using this power takes 1 minute, during which time you must be touching the surface you want to see through. You can keep looking for as long as 10 minutes with each use of this power, but must touch the surface and take no other action the entire time. The surface cannot be thicker than 6 inches plus 1 inch per cleric level you possess. You can use this power a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.
"Maybe I can pray for Desna tomorrow for something that let us open the door, or I can transport us to the other side. Should we rest tonight, before doing it? That way we can restore our bodies too."
She also examines the door to see if there is a small aperture to the other side.
A keyhole would be enough...

Pai Kromnite |

We are going to need as many Restoration spells as you can cast tomorrow, Ruperta. Everyone but Pai I think has been tagged.
DM, I made a Know. Religion check back on 1-5-15 and forgot to put a post with it, lol. I was trying to figure out if the undead was permanently slain, or if it would reform again withour something like a Hallow or other spell cast. Here is the result of the roll... Know. Religion 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

It is like a ghost: destroyed but will reform in several day unless the spell hallow is cast where it would manifest.
Ruperta lays a hand on the door and sees beyond. The floor of this foyer is tiled in blood-red marble. A altar resembling a skull, its lower section wrapped in iron chains and its top cut off flat to form a level surface, stands in an alcove to the east. A ten-foot-diameter pool of what appears to be stagnant water, its rim fashioned of white marble, sits in the western alcove opposite the altar.
