Map and Handouts

Underwater Combat:

Movement: Creatures with a swim speed can use it to move freely underwater. Creatures without a swim speed who succeed at a Swim check can move up to a quarter of their speed as a move action or half of their speed as a full-round action. The DC of this check is 10 unless otherwise stated. If the creature has a surface to walk along, such as the bottom of a body of water, it can move at half speed without a check.

Melee Attacks: Natural attacks or attacks with bludgeoning and slashing weapons take a –2 penalty and deal half damage. Attacks that deal piercing damage don’t take these penalties.

Ranged Attacks: Thrown weapons are completely ineffective underwater. Attacks with ranged weapons except underwater crossbows (Pathfinder RPG Ultimate Equipment 17) take a –2 penalty on attack rolls for every 5 feet of water they pass through, in addition to the normal penalties
from range.

Spellcasting: A creature that cannot breathe water must succeed at a concentration check (DC = 15 + spell level) to cast a spell underwater.

Fire: Nonmagical fire (including alchemist’s fire) does not burn underwater. Spells and spell-like abilities with the fire descriptor
are not effective underwater unless the caster succeeds at a caster level check (DC = 20 + spell level). If the check is successful, the spell produces a bubble of steam instead of its usual effect but otherwise functions as described. A supernatural fire effect is not
effective underwater unless its description states otherwise.

Freedom of Movement: The spell freedom of movement negates the penalty on melee attack rolls with bludgeoning and slashing weapons and allows creatures to move freely in all directions as if they had a swim speed equal to their base speed. Such creatures automatically succeed at all Swim checks.

Invisibility: An invisible creature displaces water and leaves a visible, body-shaped absence of water where it is located. The creature gains concealment (20% miss chance) rather than total concealment (50% miss chance).

Aquel tells you, In the next room is the body of Cintra Eelmaster, who summoned me in ages past. After the murajau were slaughtered, the spirit of Cintra became filled with hate. In death, Cintra is calling eels into his burial chamber and filling them with malevolence. Cleanse the room of these eels and lay Cintra to rest once more.

Opening the door you can see a large mound of coral in the center of this room rises up to form a burial slab, upon which rests a single mummified corpse wrapped in seaweed. Thousands of eels swim in circles around the slab. Within moments the eels coalesce into a humanoid shapes.

The ability to perform a savage dirty trick 1/round (more on that below).
No spellcasting
-1 penalty to AC

Savage Dirty Trick:
Once per round you can attempt a dirty trick combat maneuver in place of a melee attack. This attempt does not provoke attacks of opportunity. If successful, the target takes 10 damage and must succeed at a Fortitude save (DC 24) or take an additional penalty from the dirty trick based on the type of dirty trick performed and the following table.
Blinded -> Staggered
Dazzled -> Dazed
Deafened -> Staggered
Entangled -> Anchored in place and unable to move from that square
Sickened -> Nauseated
On a failed Fortitude save, the opponent takes this additional penalty on top of the dirty trick’s original effect. The additional penalty lasts for 1 round (though the initial penalty lasts as long as normal), and can be removed with a move action. The initial effect cannot be removed via mundane means until the additional penalty is removed (though magical effects like remove blindness/ deafness work). Removing the initial effect also removes the additional penalty. If the target is immune to the initial penalty, then it is unaffected by the additional penalty.

Regardless of whether he had succeeded at his saving throw, the opponent still takes the 10 damage (unless he has damage reduction or would otherwise be able to prevent this damage).

I don't think so. The raging song has to be accepted when it's initially started and then round to round at the start of your turn. If you really want divine favor I suggest you pass on the raging song this round and pick it up next round.

It's instead of a single attack. You could replace your first attack or your final iterative. Effectively you're giving up damage for debuffing/action economy advantage.

Unrelated to either of those questions: Are these guys immune to precision damage because they're swarmish? That might affect Aewlynd's actions.

The galvos spread their attacks around one moving closer to the other. Two slam attacks go at Nachts, while two bites to Ariana, and 2 slams also for Aelwynd. All impacted by the misfortune created by the Pathfidner witch. One slam manages to hit Nachts, while both the bites miss Ariana. Aelwynd parries the first blow, and lands his riposte. Rowanna provides Ariana some good fortune, but despite the witch's cackle Ariana misses with her 2 strikes.

Eel arms flail at Thunderhoof as he closes, both the blows connect. Once he arrives he fails to connect with his punch.

Nachts' glaive is hungry though and both his blows spill black eel blood into the water.

Aelwynd slashes are off target on his attacks.

The galvos fight on; black galvos concentrates his efforts on the newcomer Thunderhoof. But the galvos falls victim to witchy business and all three attacks miss.

While the greenish galvos splits it's attacks with two slams on Ariana, which also fall victim to misfortune and miss. And a bite for Aelwynd, how easily parry's the bite, and lands his slashing riposte.

Out of Combat

------------------
Aelwynd's keen eyes find nothing further of value among the dead eels.

Aquel is pleased with you efforts and passes on, The remaining rooms remain free of corruption and are tombs, each hold the bodies of 12 ascetic monks, wrapped in holy seaweed.

You are welcome to confirm this if you choose, and if you do find the statement to be true.

Next Aquel states, Truly you are mortals of noble purpose. Not only have you cleansed the corruption in the shell, but you also showed great respect for the temple and restored some of its former glory. I freely give you all the treasures that were entrusted to me. With two cracks of her morningstar, Aquel shatters the entire pillar. This reveal a crystal decanter filled with roiling waves - The Breath of Lysianassa.

Additionally, inside the pillar is a sealed chest. Inside the chest are a fist-sized translucent egg and four golden seashells engraved with scripture. Though nonmagical, the seashells are holy relics of Lysianassa and quite valuable.

The egg, Aquel explains, is the last living offspring of Riam. It currently lies in a dormant state, waiting for Lysianassa to return to the Plane of Water. You may do whatever you wish with the shells, but I trust that you will take utmost care of the egg.

Further, take Thundergale my morningstar to aid you and then return it to me once more.

The Breath of Lysianassa (all):

As an artifact of great import, the full extent of The Breath of Lysianassa’s powers require study to discover and are beyond the scope of this scenario. However, some basic powers are imparted to those who handle the artifact.

Any creature that touches the artifact gains the benefits of
a water breathing spell for 8 hours.

Spellcraft DC35 on The Breath of Lysianassa:

You have learned how to use The Breath to create strong currents and violent jets of water nearby. This effect functions like a CL 15th telekinesis spell and can be used only while holding the artifact.

Aquel goes on to explain, The shell of Riam acts as a magical amplifier. Currently the shell enhances the magic of The Breath of Lysianassa. But once the artifact is freed, the shell’s energy can be directed to other purposes.

With regard to Riam’s egg, Aquel explains how to channel energy from the Plane of Water into the egg a ritual that will take about a minute to perform. The ritual will begin the growing process for the egg.

I would... have you deliver... a message. Seek out... a woman named Celine. Long... Brown hair. Green eyes. Oval face. Human. She should be among... Shelyn's favored. Tell her... that the eternal... pain I feel. Every single wound... I am bestowed with. Is my penance. Tell her I... am sorry. The warpriest's sempiternal grin grows increasingly brittle as he continues, blinking rapidly. "Tell her I miss... them both. That all the... joy I do not feel, I have relinquished for her to have. And that if the gods are just... that my vengeance... will be a testament... to what would have been. Tell her that. On behalf of a sinner."

Taking a step back, he bows. "Thank you." And seemingly without any further concern, turns back to Rowanna's ritual.

Rowanna examines the decanter for a few seconds with Detect Magic before declaring, "I know how to use it to control currents."

She then turns her attention to the egg ritual, "If you will allow me, I am familiar with a similar ritual which will make the one Aquel suggests more potent. I'll need 10 minutes to perform it, however."

Assuming no one objects, Rowanna then gets to work on the other ritual.

Pretending that sound doesn't travel better underwater, Aelwynd turns his focus away from the whispered words of the other half-elf and towards helping Rowanna with the ritual. He also replaces the withered plume in his hat with a fresh one from his pack.

"I am very interested in talking with you at length once all of this is said and done, if you are so inclined that is Rowanna. Perhaps over a nice bottle of wine and good meal on board my ship?" Aelwynd can't help but offer a mischievous grin as he waits for her response.
