The invitation delivered last night was remarkably simple,
especially given the importance of the occasion: “Start where it
all began. Meet us at the Pig’s Paunch one hour before dawn. The Pig’s Paunch is a run-down building with a faded sign
of a large pig standing on its hind legs, arms folded above a
corpulent belly. Inside, the air is thick with the scents of human
sweat, stale tobacco, and leftover food. In the center of the
room, surrounded by inebriates sleeping off their revelries, a
familiar elven man stands high upon top of a large round table.
I think that this is a good place to begin with this part and would give everyone a chance to introduce themselves.

Not quite knowing what to expect, Jelly makes his way into the building with a curled face as the stench creeps into his nose. He begins analyzing his surroundings attempting not to disturb any of the sleeping people hoping it has more to offer than a bunch of sleeping drunks.

Emma Baker |

Emma strolls into the Paunch, wondering if the stench is better or worse at human level? "Wonder what happens if you yell Fire?" She says quietly, looking over the unconscious drunks.
Setting her eyes on the center table Emma walks towards it with her usual confident stride, nodding a friendly greeting at it's occupant.

"A piece of gold if ya do it."Jelly whispers, overhearing the gnome's comment as he follows her stroll toward the table. "The name's Jelly. And I was serious about the gold, I could use some entertainment."

![]() |

Jared enters and sees the halfling and human gathering and decides to join them. While that may be entertaining to you, it will definitely not be to those men - and an army of angry drunks is not something you want to deal with.

"I suppose you're right about that. I'm guessin we are all here for the same reason? Seeing as it looks like we were a bit late for the party." Jelly asks as he begins to inquire about the newcomers before acknowledging the elf on the table. "Yall get a vague note too?"
Trying to bide time until C walks in to talk to dude on the table. Unless we should begin without her seeing as she is on the trip.

Emma Baker |

If there is anyone conscious at the bar Emma orders a mug of brandy, popping herself onto a chair at the table and eyeing everyone curiously. "Okay. Mysterious note with a cryptic invitation. That's a good start, but the meeting spot? Smells like an Orcs armpit on a hot day! Minus 50 for atmosphere."

Emma Baker |

Emma gives Jelly an apologetic look "Sorry friend, I get a bit nervous and babble to cover it when I get mysterious notes to meet in low class dives." You notice she's perched herself behind the mug almost defensively, and while she was wandering around babbling nonsense she was checking the room as best she could.

"The name's Jelly. Pleased to meet you Emma."Jelly says with his warmest smile. "So me you and the serious one seem to all be here for the same reason."
Looking to the other newcomer to the building Jelly asks "And what do we call you?"

![]() |

"JD it is then." Jelly says trying to lighten the mood and failing. "How about we go find out what we were sent here for? If someone would be kind enough to grab the attention of the elf."

![]() |

A thin, wiry man, dressed in drab hunting leathers, with a well-cared-for bow strapped to his back, glides into the room. Peculiarly, he wears an all-encompassing great-helm, its visor stylised to look like a construct.
"Greetings. I am Kent. Apologies for being a trifle late..."
Sorry, I was traveling, and had to wait until I got home, to determine *which* of my PCs could play this...
I should have his profile updated in the next hour or so.

A half-elf woman walks in, outfitted in sturdy (but not expensive) armor, and an array of weapons. She looks about and smiles, taking in the atmosphere of the place. Seeing the others gathered in the center of the room, she approaches. "Are you the other Pathfinders? This is great, isn't it? I mean, the history here!"
Edited to correct race.

Emma Baker |

Emma raises an eyebrow, "Yes, it positively reeks of history." She dryly agrees.
She then remembers to think before speaking. "Oh yes, I'm a Pathfinder too. Don't know about these two?" Indicating Jelly and Jared.

![]() |

"I'm no PathFINDER, I'm a PathCREATOR." Jelly replies with another miserable joke. "But it's great to meet you all, hopefully the invitation wasn't some kind of weird joke."

"“Welcome! Welcome, my students! Please, have a seat!” With
that, Kreighton Shaine, the Pathfinder Society’s Master of Scrolls,
nimbly drops down to sit cross-legged on the table before
looking about the tavern with a sense of reverent wonder. “Can
you believe it? It all started here years ago—well, over four hundred of them at least. Under this very roof the Pathfinder
Society was born.
“But today! Today you will begin your Confirmation! Master
Farabellus, Master Zey, and I all agree you each have shown your
worth and dedication to the Society, so there’s no better time
to see if you can handle becoming full field operatives. Allow
me to introduce you to Janira Gavix,” he says as he motions
for an excitable halfling woman to approach. She wears a large
backpack and carries all manner of tools, pouches, and scroll
cases around her waist. Shaine continues, saying, “Janira here
will be going with you on
your Confirmation. She was
one of my brightest pupils
and will no doubt be an
invaluable resource on your
journey, for she discovered the
caves you are about to explore
during her own Confirmation.”

"Janira speaks up in an
enthusiastic and cheerful
voice, “Greetings,
aspiring Pathfinders! Six
months ago, while I was
mapping cave entrances
in the foothills of the Kortos
Mounts, I witnessed a lone
gillman entering a concealed cave.
I thought little of it at the time, but I saw
another one enter the cave again a month
later as my Confirmation stretched on. A few
days later, after I completed my assigned task, I entered the
cave system, but was unable to find the gillmen.”
Master Shaine hops to his feet. “Initiates, for your Confirmation,
you will travel to these caves to explore and document its many
passages. Additionally, and most importantly, you are to learn
what the gillmen are up to in there. Oh, and you need to come
back alive as well.” With these parting words, the Master of
Scrolls jumps off the table and strolls out of the building while
humming to himself.

Jelly searches his brain for anything about the Kortos Mountains he may have heard of that may help the group. Knowledge Geography: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
He then asks Janira, "What should we expect as far as resistance on the journey to the foothills, and throughout the cave system?"

"My talents are very much tied to this," Carini states, lightly shaking her guisarme to indicate the polearm. "Trails I'm sadly not good at."
Carini pulls a small wand from a pouch at her side and shows it off. It's simple, well-polished wood, and lacks adornment. "If I get injured while we're out there, I would greatly appreciate if someone with the divine touch would use this to save me. I keep it here." She taps the pouch, then slips the wand inside.
Carini looks expectantly at Janira, waiting to hear answers to the good questions the other Pathfinder's asked.

"I've dabbled in tracking for most of my life. I believe I can be of assistance in that area. As well as moving about unseen as our scout." Jelly says to the group. Giving a little information and trying to receive a little in return as he waits for Janira to be prepared to answer their questions.

The Halfling will inquire as to whether or not anyone needs to get anything/ You better get it now because you won't have the change to do it in the forests and caves

Jelly, being too poor to afford anything else, replies, "I have plenty for the adventure. I can make due with what I'm lacking. Is anyone prepared to pick a lock if the time comes?"
I'm ready when you guys are.

![]() |

Carini, arm still comfortably draped around her guisarme, addresses Janira directly. "What do you recommend. I think I'm outfitted with most of what I'd need, but if you have any particular concerns, I have some coin; I'm game to shop before we leave if we have to."

![]() |

"It's better than nothing." Jelly says to Kent. "I suppose we can always bash something open if need be. Maybe someone can pick up a crowbar and portable ran. I don't believe them to be very expensive."
