That *seemed* to update for me, posting, praying, etc
Grandmother grant me speed in this clanky metal!
The paladin, seemingly having drawn all the enemy fire as appropriate to the plan, realizes that the rest of the party will be sitting ducks to the fowl intentions of the orcs, fit to be plucked at will. In a fit of inspired desperation, she barrels across the open area towards what look like the shreds of ruins, to try and use them for cover!
Running in straight line 'south' to cover, Current AC 19 due to loss of Dex bonus from the run.
EDIT: If that's just a pile of rugs and blankets, she'll be moving to the hedge and rocks on the 'other side' of the entrance she's at to maintain cover...

![]() |

Watching Andrietta boldly barrel across the battlefield inspires Sarano!
Oh. . If I can get close enough I can try that new spell, for now a magic missile
magic missile on blue orc: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

![]() |

Hearing the sounds of battle, Stali quickly moves as quietly as he can out of the rocks to a position behind an animal fence. Hopefully the noise I'm making will not be heard over the ruckus that the others are causing!
Stealth, move more than 1/2 but less than full: 1d20 + 13 - 5 ⇒ (7) + 13 - 5 = 15

From the edge of the tree line, Chak studies his intended target and then takes his shot.
Study blue.

GM Hmm |

Hikaru moves up. Andrietta decides to not hide behind the pile of rugs and so travels along the other side for cover. Stali stays hidden, but moves closer. Sarano pings the Blue orc with a tiny bird-shaped missile! Pew-pew!
Red yells, "De har fået magi! Vi dræber dem inde! Køre!"
Chak shoots the Blue Orc who screams, "Ja, lad os fælde dem inde!"
The two orcs, not being idiots, run inside the dungeon.
And back to SLIDE TWO
What do you do? If you follow, indicate how you are coming in...
Sarano, Chak, Vralk, Hikaru, Andrietta, Gallako, Stali, Blue Archer (-16), Red Archer
The whole party is up!

![]() |

Hikaru charges for the entrance, trying to make sure as he approaches it that he is using the stone for cover in case they are trying to shoot from inside.

![]() |

Stali moves forward to just outside the entrance so he can look in before following.
Stealth: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20

The grandmother pulls out her Society Standard Issue Light Wounds Curing Device and jabs herself with it for a respite from the momentary pain of having an arrow somewhere uncomfortable!
CLWW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
"I'll be up there in a bit kids, you stay in cover, you hear!"

GM Hmm |

I've moved the dungeon map to SLIDE ONE, since we'll be spending all our time there. Can you please position yourselves in the entrance marked with the arrow, and give me a planned marching order for once you go inside?
_____
It gets dark fast as you step inside. Ash collects against the rocky wall of this ancient structure. Four stone columns mark the entrance, where a fifteen-foot-wide stair descends into darkness.
Dwarven statuary once embellished the outer walls of this temple, but centuries of firestorms have eroded them into obscurity. Vague outlines of enormous reliefs depicting what look to be dwarven warriors, poets, and masons cover the walls, along with a few stanzas of Dwarvish verse.

Perception, Vralk: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
It's not hard to see that a regular watch took place in this entrance. There are bones and discarded food, bits of what may be a leatherwork project, as well as a set of crudely made dice.

"Darn. No lights inside. We're going to need light which means we have no chance of surprising the Orcs. Lets try talking to them. Worth a try, at least"
He then yells down into the tunnel
"Hey, Orcs! Lets talk. Perhaps we can come to some form of deal so we don't have to try and kill each other"
In case it matters
diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

Stali sighs and looks at Gallako.
Then he translates what Gallako said into Orcish. "Hey, Orcs! Lets talk. Måske kan vi komme til en form for aftale, så vi ikke behøver at forsøge at dræbe hinanden."
He thinks a bit, then adds something else in Orcish. "Det ville være bedre end at fortælle din chef du kørte fra nogle fugle."

Looking at her companions, whispering, "Guys. . .they are orcs. . they are too scary to be reasoned with. . "
Sarano is hesitant to enter such a dark, forboding place without a light source. She'll go to reach for her Ioun Torch and then remember she gave it away back in Ravenmoor.
Ah ya big dummy, ya forget to buy another Ioun Torch! Gaaaahhhhhhh guess its a regular torch then
After a brief inner dialogue, she'll dig out a cloth wrapped torch, douse it in oil and light it.
Whispering, "Guys. . I made light, but someone other than me should carry it. . .,"

![]() |

"I don't do well with something in my off-hand, hon... you can carry it and cast, can you not?" he says, one hand on his weapon hilt, but not drawing it for now, as doing so might have negative repercussions on the negotiations.

![]() |

She holds up her wand in the other hand, "Well. . I like to always be carrying my wand but, you're right, I can hold the torch and cast. . I don't know why but my magical powers never manifested in being able to create light. . " Looking to Gallako, "Gallako, can you create light, you're pretty magically multi-talented right?"

![]() |

"You are welcome to cast light on my headscarf... it should shed some illumination for all hopefully without blinding me. If it proves to be an issue, you can end it and cast it elsewhere, yes?"

GM Hmm |

He then yells "Hey, Orcs! Lets talk. Perhaps we can come to some form of deal so we don't have to try and kill each other"
"Hvorfor skulle vi beskæftiger os med fugle?" A sardonic voice that you recognize as Red, calls out. "Måske vi ønsker blot at plukke dine fjer til vores pile."
"It would be better than telling your boss you ran from birds."
Blue's voice echoes down the hall at you. "Han kan have et punkt, der. Hvad vil vi fortælle Karkadon?"
"Sod at, Shirish vil stege os!" Red responds.
"Sod that, Shirish will roast us!"

![]() |

Stali tells the group "They are asking why they should talk rather than pluck our feathers. Evidently they report to someone called Karkadon, but fear being roasted by Shirish."
Then he looks towards Gallako and asks "So, anything you want me to tell them?"

"Silly orcs. You should know, understand, and realize that birds always travel in large flocks, throngs and murders! We are but the advance squad, formation, and troop of our tribe. You will find yours woefully, inadequate, meager and deficient compared to our full force. Perhaps you should flee while you can.

"Alright, an army of birds, eh?" Red switches to common. "I'd a thought we'd ha' seen more signs of an army when we---". He breaks off. "Ow! What you do that for?"
Blue hisses, and whispers, not realizing how sensitive tengu ears are. "Luk det. Du ønsker at fortælle dem, hvordan vi gør ting rundt her?"

"HAHAHAHAHAHA! You did not see, notice, or detect signs of our army! Then you will not know of their arrival until it is too late! Our power is too much for your senses. Your death, demise and destruction is nigh!
Linguistics: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (11) + 19 = 30 I guess this is more of an intimidate attempt.

![]() |

Stali calls out "Når du skudt de andre orker fuld af pile? Deres art er ikke kendt for deres evne til at skjule."
They are known for their impatience though. Get them upset and they almost always think with their weapons.

![]() |

I only recently noticed the swarmmonger druid archetype from Blood of the Beast is now legal for ALL races AND one can have crow familiars. A swarm of Vralks!!!. Guess what I'm going to retrain into when I get a chance? :-) :-)
"Look, you already have more than enough enemies. Why make enemies of us as well? The fact that we made it all the way here unscathed shows how powerful we are."

GM Hmm |

Red starts asking in a nervous tremble, "Hvordan vidste de--OW!" You hear a punch, and Red yelling, "Gør det igen, og jeg vil skubbe disse pile op de--"
Blue hisses and whispers. "Shh ... Du giver det hele væk! Lad mig stille spørgsmålene!"
There is a long pause, and Red lets out an exasperated snort. "Hva-a-a-ad!"
Then there is another pause, and Blue asks, "Hvordan vidste de det? Om de andre orker og pile?"
"Shh... You're giving it all away! Let me ask the questions!"
"Wha-a-a-atever."
"How'd you know that? 'Bout the other orcs and arrows?"
"Those my words!" Red angrily reverts back to common. "Maybe we just should fight. Better die pecked by bird army than by Shirish! Voice quavering, he mutters, "Shirish vil bremse stege vores bolde."

![]() |

Stali replies "You left arrows and other evidence behind. Why, did you think it was a secret?" Alright, those two almost got into a fight. Keep it up, hushing the other!

![]() |

"If we deal with this Shirish for you, would you stand down? Would you need to fight still?"
Andrietta is almost entirely certain that won't work, but it is worth the offer, at least.
Diplomacy(Assist if someone is better, kind of unaware of what Stali has in mind here...): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

In Tengu, Stali mentions "With the way they are talking, I'm betting Shirish is the one responsible for those burn marks we found, Andrietta!"

![]() |

"Yes, but would we rather face them tired from fighting all the orcs, or refreshed and ready to go?" the grandmother offers hopefully in Tengu.
Again, it's more the pro forma sort of response than actually expecting this diplomatic effort to pan out...

![]() |

Looking around, holding her torch aloft, Sarano stows her wand back in its belt holster, "Guys. . .What's happening? I don't speak orc?"

GM Hmm |

"Shirish not all bad. We get to kill enemies, and not get eaten!" Blue says in common.
"But we led by woman." Red moans. "Is big shame."
__
Anything I've written in English is spoken in Common.

Gallako mutters loud enough to be heard, obviously joking
"Heck, we get led by a grandmother and a Crow. Talk about shame"
To the Orcs
"So, leave. We kill Shirish, you then get to lead."

The grandmother in question gives Gallako a quick rap to the back of the head. No damage.
"You mind your manners, child. And respect your elders!"

GM Hmm |

"Yeah, I'll lead and--OW!" Red shrieks. "DET ER DET!" You hear some roaring and punching, and then...
"Vente!" Pow! "OW!" Scuffle! Blue talks through gasping breaths. "Hvis vi kæmper... for hvem der er leder... end Shirish stadig stege vores bolde!"
"Lad os dræbe dem... så kæmpe for leder!" Red, also gasping, exclaims.
"Ja!"
"Let's kill them... then fight for leader!"
"Yeah!"
Blue tumbles into the alcove across the way, and both commence trying to shoot at whomever is visible in the entrance.
