GM Hmm |
Break over! Let's DO this!

Perception, Sophia: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Perception, Yorad: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
All around you, you watch as other Pathfinders finally get killing blows on their monks! The sight of monks being scorched, sliced, stupefied or slammed to death is too much for the Pink Monk. She looks visibly shaken to see so many of her fellows go down!
Initiative, Monk (Shaken): 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 - 2 = 12
Initiative, Corona: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Initiative, Mort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

ORDER: Princess Tiffany, Yorad, Sheela, Sophia, Pink Monk (shaken), Corona, Mort
Princess Tiffany, Yorad, Sheela and Sophia are up!
Sophia Palescale |
Ah phooey, i'm out of lvl 1 spells, and we're still fighting monk fodder. :)
Sophia shifts her hypnotic stare at the monk, and casts daze.
"Hush, it will be over soon."
+1 dmg to the 1st attack of the round that lands on her.
GM Hmm |
Monk Will Save, Stare, Shaken: 1d20 + 7 + 2 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 2 - 2 - 2 = 20
The Monk glares at Sophia...
(But the GM pauses to see if there is an immediate action Misfortune coming.)
GM Hmm |
Let's just move on. Maybe Corona will need to Misfortune something that the monk does to one of you later.
ORDER: Princess Tiffany, Yorad, Sheela, Sophia, Pink Monk (shaken), Corona, Mort
Princess Tiffany, Yorad & Sheela are up!
GM Hmm |
For later...
Will Save, Stare, Shaken: 1d20 + 7 + 2 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 2 - 2 - 2 = 11
Sheela begins casting sleep.
ORDER: Princess Tiffany, Yorad, Sheela, Sophia, Pink Monk (shaken), Corona, Mort
Princess Tiffany & Yorad are up!
Yorad Cinderhunter |
Yorad springs into action as he weaves his way around the shaken monk. "Relax, this will hurt only a little..."
Move (charge) to position on map.
Attack: dagger: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 = 13
damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Sneak Attack: 1d8 ⇒ 1
"Princess" Tiffany |
"Friends, check out my special net! It's sooOoo glamorous!" Pink gemstones decorate each intersection in the net's material, and the outer mesh is lined with dried leaves and twine. "I got tired of waiting for these lazy guys to come at us, so I had some fun and added a few more gems. Now don't ruin my net, monk!"
Net adept: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
GM Hmm |
Yorad's knife misses, but Tiffany's net...
Blur Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 53
...entangles the pink monk!
The monk aims a stunning fist at Yorad...
Shaken, Entangled Monk: 1d20 + 5 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 5 - 2 - 2 = 13
...and misses.
ORDER: Princess Tiffany, Yorad, Sheela, Sophia, Pink Monk (shaken, entangled), Corona, Mort
The whole party is up!
Sheela Kolphan |
Sheela completes her spells and the net begins to feel like a heavy, warm, sleepy blanket...
Casting Sleep. Will Save DC 17 or sleep tight!.
She moves ahead, putting away her mace. If the monk is still awake, she casts a spell to Daze the monk. If she is still asleep, Sheela draws her crossbow.
Casting Daze. Will Save DC 16 or lose the next action.
Corona Merrion |
I wonder how many more monks we'll have to fight? Whatever those potions are, they seem to really work for them...maybe I should try to buy some too once this is all over...
"...Huh? OH! We're fighting again!" Corona exclaims as she suddenly realizes that the pink monk is now in their midst. "Sorry, sorry!" she calls apologetically as she hustles forward to get within striking range with her longspear.
___________
Powerless Prophecy'd! And alas, Misfortune was indeed thwarted by Corona's player's bizarre sleep schedule - but I'm sure there'll be plenty of chances to use it yet ;)
Yorad Cinderhunter |
Heedless of the ladies throwing their spells at the monk, Yorad waits for Mort to position himself before stabbing at the monk again...
Ready Attack when Yorad flanks the monk: dagger, flank: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 2 = 10
damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Sneak Attack: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Miss?: 1d100 ⇒ 52
GM Hmm |
Before Yorad can ready to attack, the monk snores and drops off to sleep.
Yorad, do you still attack, or do you wait for Mort?
Mort Gloomhollow |
Mort snaps out of his slight daze to see the Monk fast asleep and Yorad whispering to him to come lay the lumber to the sleepy lady. He strides up, pointing at Sheela and giving her a 'You the Lady!' wink at her handy work.
"You want this one Yorad or you want me to get it done?" As he lines up his greatsword on the woman's neck.
Blur if necessary: 1d100 ⇒ 66
Yorad Cinderhunter |
Yorad nods to Mort, "Yeah you can take care of this...the sight of blood makes me queasy..."
Corona Merrion |
"Oh, is it over already? You're really good at fighting, New Friends! I'm so happy I get to help you all," Corona beams as yet another monk is dispatched in short order.
GM Hmm |
The pink monk dissolves into mist...
--Another Monk Down!--
Meanwhile, on the other side of the room, a monk in indigo robes materializes. "We are the monks without end. We will plague you forever, always fresh, always coming!"
But despite his bravado, he looks shaky. Apparently, your reputation has preceded you. He downs his potion of Blur while you have one round to reposition or heal.
For those of you currently up in initiative, feel free to incorporate that move or heal into your next post. For those of you who are not up in initiative, feel free to post your positioning now.
Initiative, Corona: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Initiative, Mort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Initiative, Princess: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Initiative, Sheela: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Initiative, Sophia: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Initiative, Yorad: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Initiative, Shaken Monk: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 - 2 = 19
ORDER: Sophia, Corona, Navy Monk (shaken), Sheela, Princess, Yorad, Mort
Sophia and Corona are up!
Everyone, please include the miss chance in your posts!
Mort Gloomhollow |
Mort shakes the blood off his greatsword and looks up as the fresh one appears and smiles "I don't know about you guys.." He walks up and takes position in front of the group, sword on his shoulder "But I am having a BLAST today!" He watches the monk in his stance and gets a good judge of his height and weight while he grips his sword.
"I guess I'd feel a LITTLE bit happier if they dropped bags of gold when they died though." He shrugs his shoulders and waits for the gong to sound.
Move ahead of the 'hens' and study target.
Yorad Cinderhunter |
Yorad takes up a position near Mort, knife at the ready.
Moved to position on map.
GM Hmm |
Several more monks die in desperate battles up and down the dais and then... there is a rumble of energy and a spark, and all the monks gasp as they take damage. The monk in the indigo robes doubles up in pain for a moment, as the spell that is tying him to this place is clearly weakening.
But he has a job to do, so he winces, and stands to face you all once more. "Even wounded, I'm still going to kick your asses. You know that, right?"
ORDER: Sophia, Corona, Navy Monk (shaken, -17), Sheela, Princess, Yorad, Mort
Sophia and Corona are still up!
Corona Merrion |

Although she didn't look too hurt anymore, Corona quickly pulls out her wand again and steps over to Tiffany. "Here you go, New Friend Tiffany - this should fix the rest of the bumps and bruises," she smiles.
Cure Light Wounds (Tiffany): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Charges remaining (41); Tiffany should now be at full health.
Then, she turns to their newest challenger as she puts her wand away. "You don't scare us! We have all sorts of tricks up our sleeves - like this," she declares as she pulls a small sack out of her pack and takes a wobbly, halting step forward. "Eeek, my legs! Is this thing leaking!?"
_________
Corona will use a move action to pull out a Tanglefoot bag and then take a 5 foot step to her current position.
"Princess" Tiffany |
Tiffany quivers and breathes a sigh of relief as the healing magic envelops her body. "Thanks again, Corona. I feel great!"
She then drags her bedazzled net up towards the monk. "You guys don't learn! We've brought down four? Five? Ten of you? I lost count! And yet you're still threatening to kick our asses. SoooOo passé!"
Net adept: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Miss: 1d100 ⇒ 20
GM Hmm |
Monk Will Save, Shaken+Stare: 1d20 + 7 + 2 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 2 - 2 - 2 = 13
The monk's jaws go slack for a moment. Whatever clever retort he would have made is lost.
Not helpless... You cannot CDG him.
Tiffany's pre-posted action goes off, but she misses because of the blur.
ORDER: Sophia, Corona, Navy Monk (shaken, -17), Sheela, Princess, Yorad, Mort
Everyone but Tiffany may act! Don't forget to roll your blur mischance!
Mort Gloomhollow |
Mort shrugs his shoulders as the Monk stands there in a daze, quivering in fear while almost being wrapped up in a net "You ladies really are taking the fun out of this, you do know that right? But Yorad and I will do what needs to be done none the less."
The tall white haired man lowers his shoulder and takes off at a run, dragging the tip of his greatsword along the floor, a trail of sparks behind him, swinging from low to high to attempt to twin the monk from crotch to nose.
2H Greatsword + Charge + Study + Power Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 2 + 1 - 1 = 192d6 + 6 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (2, 6) + 6 + 1 + 3 = 18
Blur Miss%: 1d100 ⇒ 38
Yorad Cinderhunter |
Once Mort has positioned himself Yorad glides around the monk to the other side. "It was nice chatting with you..." He smirks as he thrusts his blade into his side.
Move to position on map.
Attack Monk. dagger, flank: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 2 = 21

Mort and Yorad cleave the monk in twain, and then it dissipates into a puff of air!
-- Monk Down! --
A shaken, wounded monk appears in sky blue robes on the dais. He looks at you. "Aaaaack! Of all the groups I'm sent to fight against!" He breaks off, then bows. "We who are about to die salute you."
He starts downing his potion. You have one round to reposition. The dais is difficult terrain.
Initiative, Corona: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Initiative, Shaken Monk: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 - 2 = 9
Oh, that poor sod.
ORDER: Sophia, Sheela, Mort, Yorad, Tiffany, Corona, Blue Monk (shaken, -17)
The whole team is up! Go ahead and add your reposition to your regular move! Don't forget to roll your mischance!
"Princess" Tiffany |
"Quit being such hogs! Let me do something!" Tiffany growls as she steps forward and tosses her net, this time with great success!
Net: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Miss: 1d100 ⇒ 58
Sophia Palescale |
You know, we're on a spree like some time ago again. Will we be the main contributer with the bodycount again? :)
Sophia shifts her stare at the new monk, and casts daze.
GM Hmm |
Tiffany entangles the sky blue monk! "No, not the net! Noooooo!"
Shaken and Stared Will Save: 1d20 + 7 + 2 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 2 - 2 - 2 = 11
And then his jaw goes slack as he gets dazed...
ORDER: Sophia, Sheela, Mort, Yorad, Tiffany, Corona, Blue Monk (shaken, entangled, -17)
Sheela, Mort, Yorad and Corona are up! Man, you guys are on a roll!

Yorad shrugs in irritation, "Don't these guys have anything better to do? Wait...I don't have anything better to do either!"
Move to position on map.
Attack Monk. dagger, flank: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 2 = 14
damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Sneak Attack: 1d8 ⇒ 7
Miss?: 1d100 ⇒ 76
GM Hmm |
Yorad hits, but only because the Monk is flat-footed and entangled. Sophia, does this trigger painful stare for extra damage?
ORDER: Sophia, Sheela, Mort, Yorad, Tiffany, Corona, Blue Monk (shaken, entangled, -31)
Sheela, Mort and Corona are up!
Corona Merrion |
"Hey, you and your friends have been doing well," Corona responds, actually feeling a little sorry for the newest monk. "Nothing personal, okay?" she adds as she takes a step forward and stabs at the monk with her spear.

"Oh!" Corona exclaims as the monk poofs. "Makes me jump every time. I'm sure glad they don't blow up..."
Sheela Kolphan |
"So we won? OH! We won!" Sheela hops up and down like a she was given a new pony. "Good job, everyone. This calls for a celebration!"
"I have many people to contact, but the Kolphans will have one heck of a shindig tonight. Especially when I get out of these ugly black robes. You''re all invited, of course."
She winks at Yorad. "So where was I? Yes. Yorad. These two twins. One of them is a fighter, the other one is a charmer. Both can channel fire if they focus hard enough. Their last few relationships have been... high maintenance. They're looking for something a bit simpler. Interested?"
Mort Gloomhollow |
Mort lowers his sword as he watches Corona lay down the last of the monks and the sitting man declares the victors "Now we're talkin! A bath and some beers and maybe a payday?" He turns to Tiff and whispers "They did mention a payday at some point didn't they?"
What's wrong with these black robes anyhow? Not quite party wear but for everyday 'get it done' clothes they aren't too bad.

-- While the Credits Roll --
It is a tradition in my games to invite my players to do a DVD-style Closing Credits Easter Egg for your character.
ON EASTER EGGS
King of Anything wrote a lovely treatise on PbP Easter Eggs that I've totally stolen for this.
<Philosophical Exploration of the Easter Egg>
The closing credits are a great place to sum up your adventure and how your character has grown throughout. You've been playing for awhile now, so take some time to look back through the adventure and think about what moments stood out as meaningful, or could be explored a little more.
Your Easter Egg can be presented as a vignette centering around your character, or as a report or letter to your superiors/family, or as a quick scene between NPCs reacting in your character's absence. There are many possibilities!
Some good questions to ask yourself and/or answer in an Easter Egg:
1. How did my character introduce themselves? Are they the same character now?
2. What relationships did my character form in this adventure? How will they end? (Or will they continue??)
3. What did my character learn about themselves or the world?
4. What does my character do between adventures?
Your game has been a pleasure to follow. Finish strong!
Some more questions to consider:
5. Where is the pie? Will there be parties with tea and cake?
6. Is Yorad going to meet the twins?
7. Who will Tiffany net next?
8. What happened with Hiro, the Ronin Samurai?
9. Will there be another all tengu musical number?
So many possibilities!

"We did it, guys! Yay!" The grippli excitedly hops around as the the Emissary offers his congratulations. When she's all packed up, she turns and smiles at Sheela. "Yeah, let's go! It's time to celebrate! Get out your fanciest blouse and earrings, Corona, we're going to partyyyyy!" Without waiting for an answer, she grabs Corona's arm and pulls her away.
___
A few days later
"Yup, that'll be all! I really love the way these sparkle," Tiffany says as she hands over thirty gold pieces to the shopkeep for a prismatic crystal. She picks it up and holds the crystal in front of her face, wide-eyed and gawking at the reflection of light off of its many facets. "Wow... It's beautiful! Hey, Bebop. I think we should call it Sparkletrot, in memory of that pretty lady's pony!"
She smiles up at the shopkeep and steps out of the shop, leaving the Merchant's Quarter. On her way north through Absalom, she comes across a grand statue of Irori being polished of any moss and debris. She stops and peers up at it. "This is kinda cool. Who is this guy?"
A tengu monk looks sideways at Tiffany as he pushes on the ground to leap up, walking over to the curious grippli.
"This guy is Irori, god of history, knowledge, and self-perfection," the tengu pointedly says. "Have you no honor?"
"Really? You too? Ugh," Tiffany scoffs. She looks the statue up and down, marveling at its fine details and stonework. A dozen snails leave trails of slime along the base of the statue. "Snails seem to like him. Tell me, Sir Tengu, how does one achieve self-perfection? I mean, I'm already pretty perfect. Right, Bebop?"
Croak, croak
The tengu grins and shakes his head. "Green one, you have much to learn. Come, follow me, and let me show you the flawless man's teachings."
"Flawless? Like a flawless marquise diamond?! OH WOW! COUNT ME IN! I hope they have blowfly pasties!" She hops along, following the tengu into Absalom's Irorium.
