That's sweet of you, Girzog. But there's a saying in my family -- "Curiosity brings danger and opportunity in equal measure. Which one you get depends on your attitude."
Jinny gingerly reaches out to pick up the cube and examine it further.
Wisdom is not my strong suit. If it was, I would have sweet-talked one of you big, strong men into doing it. :-)

Dumm flexes the fingers of one hand. "Dead things walk, now you say pillars like this sometimes are no only pillars... I no wonder why some people no like Pathfinders. Strange things bring we, or we bring strange things?"

After searching the rest of the corridor, Ostrogard joins Jinny in the column room. Not being able to help himself, he checks out the room and column for traps.

Not finding anything noteworthy, the Halfling idly mentions, I checked out those sarcophagi. I didn't find anything other than a few glyphs, some of them radiated a little warmth. I wonder if they had anything to do with those skeletons?

![]() |

Well, it's pretty. But what do we do with it?
Jinny shows the cube to the rest of the party.
It's made of the same stuff as the sarcophagi. Does that matter?
Jinny moves to take the cube out to the large room with the four columns, unless prevented.

![]() |

Butharn will take a look at the Runes on the sides of the cube, and see if they match Runes else where in the complex.

GM Nightfiend |

There are some glyphs that look similar to the ones on the monolith and others that match symbols on the sarcophagi. When you reach the monolith room, you can hear fighting from up top. It sounds like the camp is being overrun. While you are comparing the glyphs, the body of one of the compound's guards tumbles down the stairs and into the room.

![]() |

At hearing the thudding down the stairs, Girzog looks that direction. Seeing the dead body, he rushes to the top of the stairs to see what's going on.
Either some stupid apes made it this far inside, or the Aspis betrayed us. 20 gold pieces on Aspis!

Dumm turns to face the corridor leading back to the surface, sword at the ready.
Survive.
"We should go more down in here. Now they can no see us. Easier to escape. Go!"

Is Dumm a good thrower? Maybe we charge through the Aspis who we know will want the cube, and you chuck it across the digsite! Girzog secretly played football in Tengu high school.

Ostrogard speaks up and asks the group at large, Juliet asked us to look for something that might help repel the invaders. Might this cube be it? Maybe she knows something about it.

Let's find her!
Jinny moves to the top of the stairs and searches for Juliet.

I wonder if Dumm is a good kisser? He'll need some pretty strong mouthwash, but I bet he's a natural. Those lips are just scrumptious. What was I looking for again?

GM Nightfiend |

As the group makes its way out of the Azlanti complex, you step into chaos. All along the palisade wall, Pathfinders and camp workers are trying desperately to hold off the horde of charau-ka. Wave after wave of rocks, sticks, and even the camp’s own garbage are flying over the walls at regular intervals. Somewhere back in the jungle, that same deafening roar echoes across at the valley.
Just as you emerge from the door, a large rock smashes a hole in the palisade wall, and moments later a hoard of screeching, chattering ape-men plunge through it. In the distance, their horrible champion—a four-armed gorilla, fifteen feet tall and causing the ground to shake with each step, intelligently scans his troops and roars at them, causing the ape-men to devolve into a frenzy.
The uncovered orb begins to pulsate with an over-powering amount of white light as the large beast approaches the camp. After three consecutive pulses, Jinhong feels the cube become intensely warm, just before her world goes black.
The rest of the group watches as the large four armed ape begin to approach the camp with his army of Charau-Ka. Moments after the boulder smashes the wall, Jinhong falls limply to the ground unconscious.

Iron Golem! |

From behind the party, past the metal door, something stirs. Something large. Those who hear the clanking thud of metal-clad feet may notice the huge construct come to life and step off the pedestal, and they may be forgiven if they catch their breath in momentary panic.
It seems momentarily surprised or confused, looking at its hands in consternation, but then it flexes its arms, looks up the stairs, and runs directly toward the party.
Clanking and stomping, the very ground beneath you stirs with each step as it reaches the top of the stairs and...continues onward.
Paying no heed to the large tent in its path, it runs directly through the tent toward the Angazhani Champion, bellowing a wordless challenge to the skies.
Full-round run directly toward the Angazhani Champion.

Round (1) Conclusion
Ostrogard: The rogue prepares a tangle-foot bag for any foe that comes within range.
Kardiv: The paladin takes out his bow, knocks an arrow, and fires. (I will require you to select a target and state what that target is. From your current location the trees will provide some cover for the gray square, and the tents are in the way of the other three squares. In order to avoid cover, you will need to relocate your icon.
Dumm: The barbarian attempts to wake the comatose swashbuckler. When the attempt fails, he begins searching her. Dumm does not find the cube among her belongings.
Girzog: The Tengu fighter draws his bow and fires a shot through the tree line towards the gray Monkey-man. The arrow strikes one of the trees and is lost in the foliage. (Miss)
Butharn: The sturdy dwarven fighter gets a firm grip on his axe, in anticipation of battle. Unfortunately the monkey-men seem to preoccupied with smashing the tents and the cooking area to pay him much attention.
Golem: With a thunderous crash, one of the massive monoliths emerges from the Azlanti chamber. Each step the construct takes, sends small shockwaves through the ground. Paying no attention to the group, the animated work of art hastily moves towards the massive four armed primate.
Angazhani: The massive primate carefully observes the huge construct heading its way. By the look in the creature’s eye, you can see it is highly intelligent. Without hesitation, the beast roars, sending the lesser apes into a frenzy. Once the horde of monkey-men work themselves into a battle frenzy, the huge ape vanishes and reappears behind the construct. Although the ape is tactically placed, it appears to be somewhat staggered by the transition.
Charau-Ka: The monkey-men begin launching rocks, tree limbs, and miscellaneous objects from atop the palisade. Many of the objects tumble off without causing much harm, but some of the objects manage to strike a few of the camps defenders. The closest Charau-Ka, (Green, Purple, Gray, and Black squares) seem preoccupied with up-heaving the medical and cooking section of the camp. Many of the wounded cry out for help as the beasts topple tent after tent. One of the closer monkey-men, (Gray square) begins to pull things out of the wagon that you escorted from Bloodcove.

![]() |

Stunned momentarily by the sudden appearance of the giant iron golem, Ostrogard stands still with a bewildered look on his face.
With a shrug, he shakes it off and thinks to himself, "Well at least it is attacking the giant ape man and not me."
Deciding on a course of action, the halfling decides he needs to get closer to the apes ransacking the tents and cart, so he will have a better chance of hitting with his tangle foot bag. With that in mind, he moves down the steps and towards the wagon.
