Baldwin the Merciful's Razor Coast: Black Spot (Inactive)

Game Master baldwin the merciful

"The Black Spot" An adventure of extradimensional depravity for four to six 5th level PCs Explore the wreck of The Flying Fortune, a ship impaled on the exposed tip of an underwater mountain with a waterfall of gold coins spilling from her shattered hull. Unravel the mystery of her vanished crew—the bloodstains, the shredded decking. Discover a dank and gaping hole in the stone peak that pierces the Fortune. Is it a natural opening? Or a tunnel crafted by arcane engines? It leads down, that much is clear. Down inside a hollow, underwater mountain—all the way to the ocean floor.

Jerome why dont you loan the wand to Revhi for healing

Male Dwarf Nerd 15/Engineer 5

1) The DC of using any wand, regardless of what it is, is DC 20. Not reliable in combat, but taking 10 out of combat would work 100% of the time.

2) I could simply use it out of combat as well.

Out of combat, I always assume it is given to the cleric/oracle/bard/etc. I was at a Con one time and a sorcerer with a wand was rolling, out of combat, to heal people, despite the fact that I was playing an oracle. Sure enough, he rolled a 1, and that was the end of that wand for the scenario.

M Human

Help yourself.

Evil GM

Busy weekend and I'll be busy until this afternoon.

Evil GM

I'm a bit under the weather, so I'm going to be light on my posting.

Evil GM

I'm pretty sick, I don't think I'll be posting much today.

Evil GM

I'm still fighting off a nasty cold. I'll get back to posting by Sunday.

Evil GM

Sorry about the lack of progress between being sick and work, it's been hectic.

The book has ever hex as 10 ft. So it's 40 feet if using the book. But I've been doing every hexes as 5 feet, so 20ft.

Is there any way for me to get adjacent to the captain?

Evil GM

Yes but it will draw an AOO unless you can acro. You can always eat one for the team. :-)

Against the blind captain? I guess I can risk that, especially since he can't sneak attack. Hell I'll just eat the AoO.

FWIW, I have played that "Glitterdust" does not linger in an area, the duration is for those initially affected

Two things.

1) Movement provoked, not spellcasting. He stabbed me, I kept moving, then I cast a spell. Should not interrupt my spell.

2) I think glitterdust is a powerful enough spell without it creating a blinding field for several round.

I actually thought about when the capt should take the AOO: (1)while moving out of a threatened square; or (2) when you cast the spell. Spell casting does provoke AOO. Since you didn't indicate you were casting defensively you would have be subject to the AOO and injured during casting DC 21. I figured thematically movement made sense but even had you cast defensively your Spell DC is 21 (15 + double spell level). To move it along, your spell won't be interrupted.

As far as the blinding effect from glitterdust, I see both interpretations but it lingers.

It just seems odd that he voluntarily decided to pass on an attack of opportunity even though he should have had no idea I was going to provoke with a spell later.

Alright, do you want will saves for the glitterdust than?

Evil GM

Don't fret too much over it, you all are nearing the end, and everyone is alive.

Yes it's a will save 15.

Sorry, last night I was playing with my local group, and one of my friends is one of those frustrating rules-lawyer types. God forbid I forget a minute detail like fast stealth or distance perception penalties applying to spellcraft, we have to stop the game cold in its tracks...

Glitterdust was a fantastic choice by the way. Blinded rogues can't sneak attack!

Evil GM

I'm just giving everyone a friendly nudge. You've come a long way and accomplished much.

M Human

High ACs first!

Evil GM

I'm busy this evening, so I probably won't get a post up till tomorrow.

Evil GM

Sorry I ended up getting busy this week. It's my table top game day, so I won't be able to get a post up till tomorrow.

Evil GM

Just want to make sure everyone's character sheet is up to date entering this final part of the adventure.

M Human

Get yer hit points topped up with the wands!

Evil GM

I won't be able to post till late tonight or tomorrow.

M Human

Had to do a system recovery due to problems on my home computer and now i'm posting on another one. I'll check in when I can but evenings are spotty.

M Human

Will see if I can access the board once I get home. My computer has been recovered to the original factory standard and that means everything, such as new browsers are gone. Hopefully I'll be getting a new computer soon and thus be able to get Firefox/Chrone up and working.

Evil GM

Jerome that stinks. I had to do that once.

I have sad memories of reinstalling Windows. Six years ago I switched to a Mac, now it is reboot every 1-2 months and I am good to go.
