Those backgrounds look fine. Anyone else got any comments?
Should we note we have horses as well? I noticed the game thread they do, and we are meeting back up at them at this point. If yes, how much is a saddle bag? same price as a backpack?

Their horse were the spoils of war, and anyway since Thom and Quinn aren't coming along you can have their horses.
Looks good to me, (I just read through, wasn't looking for mistakes.)
I like the background! Welcome again! See you on the inside!

Apologies, guys, but I have injured my shoulder and arm in such a way that it makes operating a computer quite painful. I won't be posting for a few days.
Female Elf Druid 3 2168xp
Ouch!
Do I even wanna ask how that happened?!?
;)
Probably from chasing 0-lvl henchgirls around the room!
Get better soon!
Female Wood Elf Cleric / 3
Yes get better soon, and hope it isnt too serious, or turn into a lasting problem for you.
Yikes! Sorry to hear about your injury. Rest & get well soon! (But take as much time as you need, your health & well-being are more important!)
We'll still be here when you get back!

So, re: foraging. We now are:
Heathy - Aelph (Human Infernal Warlock)
Raggy - Marc Wyvernspur (Human Dragon Sorcerer)
Vatters - Heimoth (Half-elf Paladin)
Waggy - Hasren Gunnarson (Half-Elf Bard)
Glodders - Terra Everbloom (Elf Druid)
Detters - Sefra Everbloom (Elf Monk)
As 5 PCs are needed for surveying, Terra's off doing foraging. The rest of us can assist on her roll; Sefra and Heimoth have already done so.
Having said that, we probably don't want the druid zooming around alone in case something happens... How often do we need to forage? Perhaps we should do it every other or even every third day?
Female Wood Elf Cleric / 3
I believe it takes 1 hour to forage, and she can probably forage along side us while surveying, with her forage check today she would get enough for 10 people for a day. Which would start to build a surplus.
Female Elf Druid 3 2168xp
It takes ~1 hr and a 15 roll nets just enough food for one person, the max roll is a 25 which nets you enough food for 10 people for 1 day, so almost a day and a half for this group. I could forage in the area you are surveying and just say I'm spending more time than the 1 hr as I'm in a smaller area?
No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30
That sounds sensible. After all, you don't want to wander off too far....
I suggest someone (probably Terra) keeps a running total of how many days' food we have (including rations) for convenience. If it comes to it, assume it is evenly distributed bewteen you.
Female Elf Druid 3 2168xp
Sounds good I'll start compiling what we have and what we get. I'll post it whenever you "start a new day as an ooc" The DM guide didn't break down how to select on the scale how many people you provide for so I was thinking 15-16 1 person 17 2 18 3 19 4 20 5 21 6 22 7 23 8 24 9 25 10 since it indicated 25 was max that work for you on the scale?
Oh and welcome back hope you feel better.
No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30
I'd suggest, as a guide:
15-16 = 1
17-18 = 2
19-21 = 3
22-24 = 4
25-28 = 5
29-33 = 6
34-39 = 7
40-46 = 8
47-54 = 9
55+ = 10
Bear in mind, DCs will move depending on how hostile the terrain is.
I suggest you simply keep count of man-days of food. If the party started off with 80 days of rations, and on the scale above and a final score of 35 from the foraging (based on the rolls in the other thread) that equals 7 rations found. Subtract 6 eaten for the day, that's 81 rations at the end of day 1.

With Sunburns potentially becoming a problem would I be able to use the nature skill to build "natural defenses" like leaf hats or umbrellas to help with the daily saves? Obviously they would wear out periodically etc. Rudimentary parasol if you will...
No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30
You can do that. You won't get sunburn all the time, I'm just being a bit mean and reminding you you are out in a potentially hostile environment.
Female Elf Druid 3 2168xp
I'll wait and see if we run into a rash of it then since I'm assuming it would take time away from foraging/surveying etc.

My doctor has signed me off work for a week to rest my arm and shoulder. On that basis, I'm going to avoid using my home computer too, so I won't be posting for a week. I'm sorry for all the disruption to the games, but hopefully this will do the trick.
No worries Aub! I'd rather have a healthy Aubrey than a busy game!
Hopefully this will do the trick for you!
See you in a week?
I thought it might be something like this.
Enjoy your time off & get well!
See you when we see you.

We're off to San Diego for some vacationing from Friday until next Sunday. I might check in occasionally from an internet cafe, but I'll mostly be offline.

Hey guys, hope you don't mind me posting in here. I've been reading your campaign thread and am thoroughly enjoying it. I just wanted to let you all know that I love the role playing you guys are all doing as well as Aubrey's vivid descriptions!
I got so into reading the thread I was disappointing when I caught up, lol. I look forward to seeing how you all do. I've never played 4e before and its been nice watching you all learn it as well. I'm also VERY interested in how the Kingmaker adventure path goes. That aspect fascinates me. If you guys ever need another player, I'll happily fill any roll.
(p.s. this is my first post on this board so if commenting like this is out of line please delete my post and accept my apologies).
also I'm'a roll a die just to see how this feature works :)

The dude can spin a story, can't he? I was sad to drop from this game a month or two ago...
sigh.
By the way, like the two new additions to the game.

can I have radishes with my ham?
Female Elf Druid 3 2168xp
Thanks Eben :D I've played 4E quite a bit but this is my first pbp, so I'm learning that part of it as we go. Course having my real life twin brother playing to keep me in line helps lol.
Heh, Welcome to Paizo Rendar!
And yeah, Aubrey is awesome!
I'm just learning 4E, but I'm not turning down a chance to play in an Aubrey game! :D
Glad you enjoy the thread. I like to lurk as well. There are a LOT of really good threads here!

...and yes you can but you'll have to make your Fort save or be immobilized by a Delicious Ham induced Coma for a few hours.
mmm...ham...
Heh, that's not so bad,
The BASE DC for resisting a Turkey-induced coma is at least DC20!
And it rises to at least DC25 if you have it with a feast with all the trimmings! :D

Hey, Eben, are you around and has life calmed somewhat? Do you want to rejoin the game?

Just to let you know, I'm out until Saturday seeing the mother-in-law.
Figured this might be a less immersion-breaking place to let everyone know I've updated Hasren to 2nd level.
Also, in updating, I noticed I'd totally forgotten about the Virtue of Valor. As of 2nd level, it's now new & improved thanks to my 2nd level feat. The first person I notice bloodying or taking to 0HP a foe gains a +2 bonus to their next damage roll before the end of their next turn in addition to 4 temp HPs!
Male Human Expert 5
That's a nice ability.
I'm still trying to get used to the fact that the sorcerer has the same attack bonuses as me and can take almost as much punishment. 4E is really different from just about any other level-based RPG I've played in that respect.
The toughness of the classes really starts pulling away from each other in the paragon tier, at least that is what i have found
Vattnisse wrote: That's a nice ability.

I think as a weapon user you can eke out a slight edge to hit with good weapon choice & feat support. Your total bonus to hit will be higher, though your target (AC) will tend to be higher too.
Also, as far as ability to take punishment, remember quite a bit of healing depends on surges. Your 13 surges to Marc's 7 means you can soak up quite a bit more damage during a day than he can. The way Aubrey's dice have been going, you're probably going to be glad you do have that extra healing capacity...

Folks,
My wife's currently hospitalised with pregnancy-related health complications. It is not something critical, and the baby seems to be just fine, but I don't think I'll be around much the next few days. Please NPC my PCs as you see fit.
Whoa, sorry to hear that Vatt.
Give her my best, and God bless you both!
I'll be praying for you.
:)

OK Vatters, hope it all goes well.

Erin's out of the hospital, but she's been placed on strict bedrest until the baby's due - i-e. mid- to late January. No work, no walks, no nothin'. Hopefully it'll be enough to help her recover.

Off to my parents' for Christmas. As I seem to be going down with man-flu on top of this, I doubt I'll be on much for a day or two. So have a merry Christmas and see you all after Boxing Day.
Heh, is 'Man-flu' transmittable over internets? ;P
Just FYI-
My son is sick (Caught a cold, first of the school year, JUST in time for Christmas!) ;P And I think I'm getting it too. (Double ;P)
Also busy with the usual holiday nonsense, making candy, pies, cookies, etc. And have travel planned (IF I don't get sick!) So, I may drop off the radar at any time. Should be back by Jan 3 at the latest.
My prayers to all of those with expectant wives and sick kids,
and MERRY CHRISTMAS to all! :)
(Or is that 'boxing day' to our English friends?) ;)
