"Let's rest at the Lodge one last time. We have a long journey ahead, and I'd like to transcribe some spells."

Jones Shei'lac |

Jones spends the night copying Fly, Blur, and False Life into his formula book. (-170 gp, the Spellcraft checks are trivial.)
From now on, I'll drink False Life every morning.
False Life: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 :(

Jones Shei'lac |

Yeah, horse. We're not badass enough to take on the denizens of shadow yet.
Also, giving Enlarge Person and Shield to Sledge will be part of my morning routine as well.

Jones Shei'lac |

Y'know, we never did get that Harrow reading from Madame Ivanja...

Rynjin |

I thought you did? Well, being honest, it was just foreshadowing for stuff that happens later in Book 3, but I can try to whip something up for Book 4. I haven't 100% finished re-reading it yet though. Books 4, 5, and 6 are uncharted territory for me here, besides my initial read a couple of years ago.

Nope, we were in a hurry so we decided to do it later. Though if it was anything less specific than "You will get smacked with a save-or-die spell, buff up them fort saves", it probably wouldn't have helped much.
So yeah, don't worry about it. I wanna get on the road.

Rynjin |

The crew leaves the Shudderwood behind, ignorant of the dangers that await them in the future and ghosts still roaming Feldgrau.
Conclude Carrion Crown Book 3: Blood of the Moon. Route: Bad End.
I'm assuming everything in the Party Fund still is salable?

Darius Ral'algul |

Ahh about that I didnt forget about that Ghost, probably want to fix that.. I picked Consecrate up, I think we traded something out.

Rynjin |

I'm going to speed this up if you do that, since the important bit is now lost to you forever. Zin screwed you.
The ghost wants you to put everyone to rest, which requires you to give a proper burial to everyone from the town, most of whom's bodies are piled in the town square in a mound. HUNDREDS of them, having been slaughtered by some insane general. The ghost hung himself because it was essentially his fault this happened (he thought the soldiers would be good for business, and invited them here when otherwise they wouldn't have even had Feldgrau on their radar).
He also says he can give you information about Vrood's plans if you bring him Vrood's severed head...but that's no longer possible.
Route: Slightly better, but still bad end. You can still continue on without that, it was just an interesting scene, and explains exactly why you haven't thwarted their plans entirely despite (seemingly) intercepting one of the necessary ingredients.

Zin'Retatarianna Mor |

Out of curiosity, I can't remember, how did Zin mess it up?

Samuel Sledge |

probably fire

Jones Shei'lac |

Because Vrood's head is now a pile of ash, along with the rest of his body.

Rynjin |

Cool Well we could have done that in an evening then went back to the Shudderwood and whatnot. No big deal, we just lose info
Being generous, on average it takes 45 minutes or so to dig a grave (coming from a Q&A with a gravekeeper found from a Google search that probably puts me on some kind of watch list). Multiply that by about 100 people (remember all the undead you fought here need to be buried), and it would take you over three full days (75 hours) to do. Given you need to rest every night, that's 8 hours of work per day, or just over 9 days.
However all that is moot since after a re-read it DOES, in fact, say FUNERAL, not burial, and I'm just retarded, so you can do it in about an hour.
Let me tally up your earnings on the way to Thrushmoor, and then we'll move on.

Carrion Crown Treasure Monster |

Looks like there's one thing left unidentified. I'm assuming nobody wants a Ring of Force Fangs though (given a few tries over days you can identify it without issue).

Two Spellbooks: Keep or sell?

Zin'Retatarianna Mor |

Oh yeah, I totally did torch Vrood. I thought it was because I was missing a particular spell.

Jones Shei'lac |

Whoops, I thought RoFF stood for Feather Falling.
Speaking of, I'd also like to sell my Ring of Feather Falling, unless someone wants it. Less useful for me now that I can fly.
Don't need anything else in that list.
EDIT: Except the spellbooks. I'm not done with them yet. I can transcribe everything I want from them once we get some gold.

Samuel Sledge |

Sledge will take the Ring of Force Fangs.

Zin'Retatarianna Mor |

Why.

Darius Ral'algul |

It negates FORCE EFFECTS and allows you to shoot magic missiles did you forget this? We can sell the spellbooks after we harvested them. Its not like it matters, whatever amount comes out of their loot amount anyway.

Samuel Sledge |

i really like the ring of force fangs :(
Sledge will begrudgingly allow the ring to be sold.

Darius Ral'algul |

You can have it, its just a part of the loot amount you get like normal. If you had.. say 10k.. you would take 4k (Half of the ring) out of that.

Jones Shei'lac |

Definitely getting an Inspired enchantment on my rapier (10k). As for the spellbooks, I think I'll copy these:
Expeditious Retretreat (10)
Bull's Strength (40) (from Vorkstag's formula book)
Darkvision (40)
Greater Invisibility (160)
Stoneskin (160)
Freedom of Movement (250)
I'd also like to sell Vorkstag's book. It has:
1st: Cure Light Wounds, Endure Elements, Jump, Shield, True Strike
2nd: Blur, Bull's Strength, Darkvision, Fire Breath, Invisibility
I'll decide on additional purchases once we've sold the books.

Rynjin |

You guys already sold Vorkstag's book, way back.
Right now you have Estovion's and Vrood's.
Spells from books available:
0th: All Cantrips
1st: Alarm, Chill Touch, Mage Armor, Protection From Good, Shield, Ray of Enfeeblement
2nd: Acid Arrow, Command Undead, Ghoul Touch, False Life, Mirror Image, Blur, Glitterdust, Spectral Hand
3rd: Dispel Magic, Fly, Protection From Energy, Ray of Exhaustion, Vampiric Touch
4th: Animate Dead, Enervation, Greater Invisibility, Stoneskin
5th: Cloudkill, Telekinesis, Wave of Fatigue
6th: Circle of Death, Eyebite, Create Undead
Cantrips: All
1st: Expeditious Retreat, Mage Armor, Magic Missile, Obscuring Mist, Shield
2nd: Acid Arrow, Darkvision, Detect Thoughts, Dust of Twilight, Scorching Ray, Web
3rd: Gaseous Form, Lightning Bolt, Stinking Cloud, Summon Monster III
4th: Dimension Door, Black Tentacles, Charm Monster, Summon Monster IV
5th: Cloudkill, Freedom of Movement

Jones Shei'lac |

Well then, no Bull's Strength. Guess Jones will have to set aside his dreams of being a part-time bodybuilder.

Jones Shei'lac |

Nah, it doesn't seem like it would be that useful. I just thought I'd grab it as long as I had Vorkstag's book. But I don't have Vorkstag's book, so meh.
But hey, thanks for reminding me about getting spells from people in town! I'll get Phantom Blood (15), Communal Ant Haul (60), Bear's Endurance (60), and Communal Resist Energy (135).

Darius Ral'algul |

Jones Shei'lac |

Har har.
Darius, you want anything from those books that I didn't get?

Samuel Sledge |

Sledge will sell the ring.
How much worth of stuff can we buy?

Jones Shei'lac |

No Sledge, really, it's fine. You keep your ring and we'll take your money!

Zin'Retatarianna Mor |

Agreed. You never know when it might be useful.

2late, Wake of the Watcher time
It takes you about 10 days to traverse almost the entire length of Ustalav, and make it to the small town of Thrushmoor.
Thrushmoor lies on the shores of Lake Encarthan, built over the river Danver as it empties into Avalon Bay.
In short, Thrushmoor (as the latter part of the name may suggest), is a very wet place.
The town is sprawling, and somewhat messy (spread across numerous small islets, and almost haphazardly built along the lakeside) but is quite prosperous for its size (you can do at least some of your shopping here) due to river trade and its position as the seat of Versex county.
A decrepit old for, Fort Hailcourse sits near where you arrive, the home of the mayor. A pair of crossbow wielding mercenaries sit in the towers and watch the roads, but do not accost you.

Jones Shei'lac |

Before I forget:
Fort vs. negative level: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 Yay.
False Life: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Jones looks for information regarding the Whispering Way and the Seasage Effigy.
Gather Info: 1d20 + 18 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 18 + (1) + 2 = 26

Jones Shei'lac |

Ok, I'll give out 10 gp.
26 + 2 + 2 = 30.
