Actually, gazes are like auras. If you're in the range of one, you have to either avoid looking at it or make the save. That being said, however, most of them only have a range of like 30'
Corso will continue to attack the one in front of him until it drops and a way is opened to get to the medusa.

Rathis still has trouble hitting, though he comes within a hair's breadth this time. Corso and Val continue to whittle away at the demons while providing an effective defense. Rathis is the only one to get a scratch this time (for 12).

Omar shrugs off the illusion and easily spots the shimmer of air that indicates invisibility. His arrows fly true with devastating effect. The cries of surprised pain allow the chaos beast to follow up and attack the general area of the madeusa, but it doesn't make contact.
In the melee, Rathis finally hits his stride and gets inside a demon's defenses to devastating effect. He rips the thing to literal pieces and flings the bits all over the room.
Val is having success against her target demon as well especially with the new flanking "buddy". She hacks a few bones off, then it's form starts to melt and shift randomly. It growls and manages to pull itself back together, but whatever is affecting it has put a conciderable dent in its combat capability.
The third demon then assaults Val in an attempt at revenge and manages a good hit (for 10 damage).
The madeusa casts again and all of your skin starts to crack and bleed as the moisture is sucked from your body!

Don't forget the blue area is reverse gravity! The targeting for Horrid Wilting leaves much to be desired, it's not a ray, burst, or emenation, it sounds like it is targeted but doesn't mention selection of targets. Round 2 of 14 for Chaotic Beasts

GM Choon |

The targeting of Horrid Wilting is much like chain lightning "targets no to of which are more than 60 ft apart"
The number to locate her just 20. Most things pass at this point.
Valeria, with the help of the chaos beast, holds off the intervention of the bone devils while the rest of the party and their pets descend on the madeusa. As Omar continues to feather her with arrows, Rathis and the chaos beasts charge in. In spite of her concealment, she is ravaged. It's hard to tell who exactly gets the last blow. At about the same time Omar's last arrow thuds into her forehead and Rath's claw reaches up to gut her from her snake-like underbelly, helped by the targeting assistance of the chaos beasts. All at once the devils disappear and the whirling blades vanish. Laying against the ceiling is the body of your foe, now very dead.
A secret door to the northwest hides a small room that contains a large circular bed, five fine silk dresses (worth 200 gp each), and six potions of cure critical wounds. A small shrine to Asmodeus sits in the northeast corner, on top of the shrine lies a single piece of parchment upon which is inscribed Stavian I’s record of birth—a simple but powerful document that has the ability, if proof besides your collective visions is found to support it, to completely invalidate almost four generations of Taldan Monarchy.

"There is clearly only one thing to do here: This document must be made public, regardless of the consequences. The government that I have worked for and represent is based on a lie, and a horrible crime."

"It's your funeral Corso. Stavian won't take well to such a revelation. Then again, not my problem. I don't do too much business here in Taldor, and can watch out for myself elsewhere.
Just let me get well clear before you commit suicide OK?"

Corso Altaire |

"Oh, I am exceptionally well known in my country. It would be hard to make me just go away, and I pity the fools that they send to arrest me. As I said, we need to deal with this issue openly, otherwise, if it comes out, it would be a scandal that could destroy my nation."

"No matter what it will be a scandal which will threaten your empire, but I'll leave it to you. Though I think I'll trouble Ferod for a teleport back to Sothis if possible before you do your reveal. I don't want to be anywhere near Taldor when that happens. Also, please don't mention I had a part of this. I'm not generally scared of those that might be sent against me, but honestly I would prefer to be able to eat and drink without worrying about poison in everything. "

Rathis Thrice-Scorned |

"What happens in Taldor isn't my problem. I was hired to find this information and that's what I've done. That said, I don't relish the idea of a war starting out. I've been responsible for enough death in my life already to not need that blood on my hands. I wonder if we would be better served saying we were unable to find this proof, or at least not all of it."
Rathis looks troubled.
Sorry for my delay. Got caught up in Superstar a little bit.

Ferod Coulserk |

The law is clear on this. An injustice has been done. We would be condoning the illegitimate rulers if we choose inaction.
Ferod ponders a moment, considering the various viewpoints. I hear that some of you are concerned about those that may be harmed should this document be brought forward. Consider those that have been harmed, and continue to be harmed by the rule of those now in power under false pretenses.

"Yeah, OK, that's all well and good, but could you drop me off somewhere which won't be ground zero? I'm not trying to argue with what you want to do, I just don't want a part of the consequences. "

![]() |

"An empire such as Taldor does command some serious resources. I wouldn't be so sanguine about your ability to handle all threats. I really doubt most of them will be ones you see coming. Though as I said, it's your head. Good luck if you go through with it. "

In the end, it would be a good idea to at least meet with Mr. Daellum and give him the bad news.
You find him in the Lion Sleeps common room. It is as warm and inviting as ever, but knowing what happened here puts the building in s while new light.
He gets you with eager hand shakes and a gleam in his eye.
Well? Is your exploration complete?

GM Choon |

Mr. Daellum remains quiet as the take is told. His face sinks more and more with each take of demons, vampires, and even a madeusa.
" My. I didn't know." He sighs and runs his hand through his hair. "Did you find any hard proof of their depravity?"

I have no problem giving it to him, but I would definitely warn him that it is an evil artifact and not something to be trifled with.
