I think I remember in the past that most zombies die from a critical hit. I guess these have special protection from crits due to the runes?

If the killing blow is a critical, it will kill it. You were 2 hp shy of killing it. Your critical did have an effect and you did rock it.

Regarding the scroll, you will not be able to cast it until you either get lvl 10 in Thief (when you get the Use Magic Device ability) or take levels in a spellcasting class that can use it. Scrolls require that you are able to cast the spell (or it is on your spell list) in 5e.

I was thinking that it would go to Presmer, since he is the only spellcaster in the group that can cast that spell.

You can mark it on this sheet, or you can tell your DM for next time and it can be noted on the next session. Purchasing can be made either before or after the module.
