Ganorok "The Mouse" |
Give me the weekend to get the book and "spoiler myself" the adventure.
Orion Delanis |
Including me, right?
What about Kyle (Marigania's Player)?
Are you still in?
may need to PM them if they don't check here any more...glad to see you're still in, Aizel.
and a huge thumbs-up to you, ganorok!
Ganorok "The Mouse" |
Sorry, didn't got time to read it over... I will do it today.

Sorry, didn't got time to read it over... I will do it today.
hey, we waited 2 weeks for a GM that just dropped the game without notice.
I can't speak for the others, but I'm more than willing to give you all the time you need for preparation before we continue...since it means we DO get to continue.
On a side note, you may already file a ticket with Paizo support so you become the new owner of these threads and we can just kick it off again right after you're ready.
Ganorok "The Mouse" |
Ok, I read at least the beginning of the thing, at least as far as we had been.
Also, I don't think I would be able to play and DM, so I will move Ganorok from PC to NPC.
I will make the first gameplay post tomorrow.
Ganorok "The Mouse" |
Not yet, but I don't think is "mandatory" for now.
I have already sent an email for that.
Orion Delanis |
I would recommend writing a PM to the other (former) players, but in your function as GM...I would do it, too, but I think if you extend a re-invitation thats carrying more weight.
May be they are simply not tracking this any more but would play. otherwise we should probably pick up someone else, because right now, we definitely lack a trapmonkey.
Corsario |
No answer... so I think we are down to 3 players, plus Ganorok as an NPC.
I think we can manage.
Corsario |
A recruitment would take a week at least... no, let's push forward, we have waited enough already.
Bendis Artemaris |
I am still alive but have moved on on Bendis. If you feel you absolutely need me I will of course play because stranding you isn't fun. That said if you can carry on as 3+dmpc and feel confident you have things in hand I will focus on other games.
Corsario |
Thanks for the offer. Really. I think we can manage, so only rejoin if you feel like it.
And if you do, we will be glad for it.
Corsario |
Did I mention English is not my normal language?
I had to check a dictionary to understand that... O_o
Got it... you and Maganrad will appear until the next morning.
Corsario |
I need to do a couple announcements.
---
I will be out this weekend at a great place so I won't be able to post much (or at all). I will be back on Sunday night.

I participate in a "Gaming Community" I learned of on the Paizo Forums, and they are recruiting. So if you are interested, I recommend them fully. Here is their Recruitment post:
Greetings Gamers!
Woldiangames.com is excited to announce that we are starting a new ongoing game in our campaign world/gaming community! It is called Lakeview Passage. This game will take place in The Floating City, a 6 level city that floats in Turtle Lake. Surrounded by one of the seven magical forests, The Crying Woods, it is the epitome civilization surrounded by its polar opposite: a forest that hates all animal life and signs of civilization. The Big Float has been suffering lately with various difficulties in importing all the necessities of life for 70,000 citizens. Can an adventuring group from Lakeview Passage of the Fence Level make a difference for their neighborhood and even the city at large? Only time and adventure will tell.

The Wold is here to stay! We are not one of those games or sites that will disappear just as you are getting interested in the game and your character. So if you’ve been looking for that quality game that does not go away, we’re your site!
The Wold is a Fantasy Campaign World [using the Pathfinder gamesystem], that originated in the early 1980's. It went online in 1997 and it has evolved into a very large website with several hundred pages of campaign information.
We currently offer 8 permanent ongoing games and many other pickup games for those members who want more. Play by post occurs on our self-made java programmed message boards with their own dice mechanisms, and auto-archiving features. We offer a Message Board called The Giggling Ghost where our gamers can chat "in character" and head out for various “pick-up” adventurers. There is also a private board that allows the players to talk and discuss just about anything in an "out of character format." These boards helps us create that all important sense of community and friendship which is a part of any good group of gamers. Also added is a board called The Catacombs where all character shopping occurs and The Black Genie Center where all Woldians may go to help develop new original material for our campaign world.

Hope to see you there!

hej, sorry, got finals here, quite busy for this week and next :)
should be slightly more relaxed then.
Also considered how to react to the dwarf, as a thug between gangs being opposed to a good brawl kind of struck me as odd, so wanted to come up with a snide remark(rather than just ask him if he's afraid) :)
Corsario |
He is a professional. Don't confuse that with fear. No pay, no fight. He won't go into a fistfight if he is not getting paid, handsomely and with an advance.
Orion Delanis |
Hehe, yep, i understand that. Just thought it would be a way to draw him out. Teasing among non-hostiles, so to say. But as said, couldn't find a way to say it that sounded the way I would have wanted it to sound anyway-
Corsario |
Perfect! We are a go! The Breaching Festival has started.
You need to choose:
a) Go together, with Ganorok, to find your "keys" (Will take you longer, giving the others and advantage)
b) Go each one on his side (Much riskier!)
Then...
Which "Hall" do you want to get your key from?
Enothai Lantherion |
AAAH! I updated to Windows 8.1 and had to re-install Herolab. I lost this character but it is a good thing that I have a copy here.
I hope everything works out in your family emergency JonGarrett
Corsario |
Good luck Jon.
I think is better if we wait for you, as Characters at this level are hard to bot.
Corsario |
I have to say, now that we have cleared the key lights part of the module, I am very proud how Ganorok was put together. He was able to detect and disarm almost all of the traps without any issue. Yay me!
The closest one was the illusion at the house of lies, but he barely made the ST.
On the bad news, his trap managing abilities will not be very useful from now on.
---
Now that we have been playing the module, and I get to know it better, I am planning to run it after we finish it, with a big change.
Make it a real challenge.
What do you think?
You have 10-12 INDIVIDUAL characters, each one trying to win the breaching festival. No teams, no "let's work together", no "characters are expected to win" or even "characters are expected to survive".
The module, obviously, is made for a gaming group (and a small 4 people one). But what if you are doing it by PbP?
You don't have the party. You don't need the collaboration part. You don't even need to promise the characters have a chance at surviving.
In fact, make it very probably the Breaching Festival would be winless for another year. If a character manages to win it would be because is an extremely well rounded build with a lot of luck, with the rest of the others just a footnote about "characters that died while trying."
I imagine giving the characters an extra level or two (so they have at least some -slim- chance) and allowing almost anything (even evil characters, which I almost never do).
How does it sounds?
Orion Delanis |
If you want to run it with individuals and allow them to ultimately work against each other, then I would heavily suggest running it with Gestalt.
It sounds really great for your idea, and I dunno what will come later, but I do know that it's no fun making a character only to run into a roadblock and get offed by it. And with some bad luck, thats probably.
With a Gestalt, you can reasonably prefer for anything, depending on what you want to do. The Monk-Priest that is hard to kill? The roguish Magus bypassing traps to let others run into them? A Paladin-Sorcerer honorbound to not strike against other participants lest they strike him first?
It could be amusing, definitely.
But one problem: If it's all individuals, they may not really "care" about what others do...possibly less involvement in the game...could also think about letting some tag-teams start.
Corsario |
I would think the choice for the Characters to work together or against each other would be theirs.
If someone tries some PvP, well, that's a horrible idea, as you would be wasting resources you will need to win the competition.
And if you try to "team up", there is a problem. Only one can win. How do you trust the others? What about being back-stabbed at the last moment?
You would need to choose if to push forward, trying to be the first, or to stay back, let the others take the risks, and try to beat them at the last moment.
It would be really probable a character, if not VERY well rounded, would face a challenge it is ill suited for. That would be part of the "charm" of the game. There wouldn't be an easy way to win. Even working as a team, you would be risking the price in exchange for your life.
As for the "caring" about the others... yes, I think it would be gamed with only spoilers, or even via Private Messages. The contact with other characters would be as much or as little as the character would like.
Alignment, of course, would be secret. Even for the GM, if you ask me.
PS. Don't like Gestalt. In any case you would be able to multiclass.
Orion Delanis |
Thats what i meant with "ultimately work against each other", as thats a very likely outcome in the end.
Not in the beginning, nah...but if the goal is in sight, I would guess someone may get offed by another player, which is not to everybody's taste.
Alternatively, someone may lurk at the challenges and let others overcome them, to finish them off. Building purely for PVP, then tagging along behind others and offing them one by one to take the spoils.
I think it's a very interesting idea. I'm just saying there's probably quite a few problems you could run into.
Something that also seemed "popular" in other AP's was to just run 2 groups.
So you could have 2 groups of 3 people, or 3 groups of 2 or 3 people, working in the same tournament, in their own gameplay/discussion threads.
They are a team, but how they interact with the other groups? All up to them...(being "NPC's" to the other teams.)
I know I would probably not enjoy a pure "solo" challenge against other players, but a "race"(with everything-goes-rules) between different groups, that could be interesting.
Corsario |
To "stay back" would seem like the obvious choice.
What I would do, at least at the beginning:
- There would be more characters than key lights. If you fail to get a key light you are out.
- You wouldn't be able to steal a key light.
That would do the "stay back" tactic REALLY risky. As risky as going first, if you ask me.
About having several teams, that would be a possibility if the characters organize as such themselves. I wouldn't be against it. The problem wouldn't be me, but themselves.
Who can you trust?
Also, it would be VERY risky in case not all the team members manage to get a key light.
Probably you would need to wait after you get a key light to see about joining a team.
Orion Delanis |
The thought process for me went more like.
Okay, I have my invisibiliy.
I have my Rod of Maximize.
I've got my Disintegrate.
Oh, that guy just came out of the building with a keylight.
Okay, I have my invisibility back up.
I have 2 more daily Maximizes from my Rod.
I have 1 less Disintegrate.
I've got a keylight.
