My understanding is that maths wise (which isn't my main interest in the game anyway) it breaks down in the mid teens. You can have crazy HP and DR but basically the heights by which you can drive your AC are far more resource intensive compared to attack ability in the game as a whole and the theory is basically that things fall apart from there as far as "resource efficiency". It is easier to kill than to not be killed, it is claimed.
But I dont care about that. I totally want to make a dwarf that can't die. Then the alchemist or the druid can blow up or maul whatever we are fighting. That may not be the most "efficient" but I think it will be damn fun. I like the math elements of this game to a certain extent but its not why I play.

Amen to that! Sometimes it's enormously fun to be able to step out in front of everyone, hold out your hand as the giant swings an axe as big as you are at your head, only to have it glance harmlessly off of you.
...Imagining that situation, and how the laws of physics would deal with it, makes me smile.

I got to flip through the People of the North book yesterday my FLGS, and I think that the book itself is meant to be taken as the Player's Guide. Or at least the last few pages anyway. I don't know whether one will be released as a free DL. I mean, the 1st adventure is now out.

yeah, and as I look over it again, it actually says "Reign of Winter Player's Guide". I wonder if those last 2 pages will be released as a free .pdf?? maybe a paizo blog??

Aaaand the official PG is now released! Things are gearing up to start! As soon as the PDF gets released when the book ships, I'm going to get us all started.
Having a hard time deciding on a trait for my Taldan Barbarian entry into whichever RoW game I try to enter...I guess either Blood of Giants or Northern Ancestry. What do y'all think? Character profile is here

Updated. Took Northern Ancestry and Restless Wayfarer as my traits. Warded against Witchery was tempting but I like the static Fort bump and the wayfarer trait helps me with my notion that Trelck is actually a bit of a wanderer. Besides I wouldn't want my witch to feel like I didn't trust her, I mean there has to be a lot of trust bewtween a witch and her meat shield right? ;-)

I like the idea of him being from a line of frost bitten, far flung "northern" dwarves, so there is a bit of going back to the ancestral clime there. Otherwise the resistance from that feat just fits his theme. For the other I picked it because ultimately I plan on playing him as "game to travel" which just seemed to fit the Wanderer trait.

Hey guys! I've been trying to compile all of your character information into a HeroLab file and, for various reasons, am having some problems getting some of your character information integrated into the program. I'm going to post here and ask each of your about the issues I am having, if there are any, so I can get this stuff fixed in HeroLab.
Please be patient with me as I'm trying to get this worked out. Thank you!

Looking over the character (I use Hero Lab as well) it looks like I am good for languages. I should get +1 for Intelligence, +1 for Linguistics and +1 for the trait Restless Wayfarer. I start with Halfling and common, then I added Skald, Tien and Minkaian. It looks good on my copy...do you want me to PM you a copy of my .por file for Drew?

DM-Phil |

EDIT: Restless Wayfarer also gives you a +1 bonus to Know(Geo) or Know(Local). Where would you like that extra point?

Medical status update for you guys: After consulting with an oncologist in Warner Robins, Georgia this morning, I have learned that I have either a grade 2 or grade 3 astrocytoma. It IS cancerous. It is NOT the really bad kind. The oncologist I spoke to told me I have already begun the process of scheduling an appointment at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas with a very experienced neurosurgeon there. I'll find out tomorrow morning when exactly my consultation appointment is but it's almost definitely going to be either next Tuesday or next Thursday and my surgery will likely follow within a couple days of that.
For at least a few days following the surgery, it's probably a safe assumption that I'll be incommunicado with everybody..which I hate, because I love you guys!

Well mixed news for sure but more good than bad I think. In an odd sychronicity I have another person in my life going through a similar situation (much more dire prognosis however. Anywho I'll root for you the whole way and like Daniel said if you think of anything let us know. In fact you should PM me an address. I still moonlight at a comic/game shop and a care package for just this sort of thing is in order if you have an interest ;-)

Medical Update: I'm at MD Anderson in Houston going through new patient stuff today. Very busy schedule until early afternoon meeting with different specialists and getting the actual surgery scheduled for tomorrow. I should be able to post again tonight, but after that I'm not sure when I'll be able to post again.
They're telling me to expect a local recover of 7-10 days, but it's really all gonna depend on me, so expect me to be incommunicado for around a week or so, beginning tomorrow. Sorry for having to do this to you guys! As soon as I'm able to, I'll let you all know what's going on. My wife has told me she'll sign on for me tomorrow after the surgery is over to let you know how it went.

Phillip is feeling fine... well, as fine as one can feel after an all-day brain operation. They think they removed over 95% percent of his tumor. We'll know for sure after he has a post-op MRI.
He's awake, talking, walking, about to get to eat something... Just letting everyone know he's okay like he asked me to do!

DM-Phil |

Hey gang! Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm back home, recovering from the surgery. Got some very good news from the neurooncologist. The mass that they found in my brain is a grade 2 astrocytoma, the lower grade it could've been. The neurosurgeon was able to remove (according to him) 95-98% of the tumor with the surgery, which my wife has already told you.
At present, because the tumor is grade 2 and the nature of grade 2 astrocytomas is that they are very slow-growing, I do not require any follow-up treatment in the form of radiation or chemotherapy. Moving forward, the treatment plan seems to be that I'm going to have to have an MRI done roughly every quarter to check and see if the tumor has started growing again. When it does, it is at that point that I'll need to seek out radiation/chemo or whatever. But for right now, I am hunky-dory!
