Correct except that Charm Animal is a Spell 1.

Correct for Valendron.

Just checking, is the Merchantman anchored? It doesn't say so, but everyone is listed as starting at the Lonely Island.
If the ship is not anchored, then I suggest we stick together at the same Shark Island, so that we can sail away to minimize (or with Valendron's help, eliminate) the start-of-turn effect.

(And, absolutely no issue with prioritizing family time!)

Male

Aaarrrrgghhh.

I forgot this was scenario #2. NOT a weak-combatant-friendly scenario at all. Grouping up at Shark Islands is the thing to do, for sure.

Also: apologies on being AWOL a bit: I rushed out to a family event without posting my timing... I've been afk all evening.

I'm a pumpkin right now (I'm up at 5 AM every day without fail) but I'll check the game thread (I came here first.)

Female Lunar Naga Tier 1 Sorcerer

I checked the PDF:
The ship is *not* anchored.

Grand Lodge

No, the ship isn't anchored, our database system just begins all the characters at the first location by default. You can start at whichever location you'd like to.

I took my turn, but afterward realized that the Shark Islands have no barriers, while the Lonely Island has only barriers. So if there are more boons on hand like Thieves' Tools and Frog (to name the 2 that caught my eye), maybe it make sense to do a little exploration of the Lonely Island first?
And I can manage out on Shark Island by myself for a turn, especially with a shield and Bracers of Protection on hand.

Male

Personally I'd like to dispense with the the Shark Islands posthaste. Lini can still use the Frog to explore (and to shuffle her deck). Celeste can recharge the Thieves Tools to examine a location.

Also: EmpTyger, I'm loving your stuff, but why is Valendron swimming (through shark-infested waters)? The ship is not anchored. :)

Male

Calthaer raises a good point: Valendron can recharge a spell to move everyone at his location back to Lonely Island at the end of Valendron's turn.

I'll leave it to EmpTyger to decide when this is a good option. Recharging every attack spell might leave Valendron with too little attack oomph.

But OTOH I will hand Steal Book over to Valendron if we start the turn at the same location, so that he can recharge it to move us all. (If he want it: if the current location closes on my turn, it's a bit pointless.)

Male

Just noting it's Elinnea's turn.

From 1:30 PM EDT onwards I'll be occupied -- not sure if I'll be able to post after that until 7 PM.

Male

I pinged Tyler to give us an update.

I don't want to explore a SI that may or may not have a villain.
Unfortunately I'm afk again to 9 or so. I'll check in & if there's no Tyler I'll explore Lonely Island.

See the below message that's being posted in every Discussion thread by the box runner. Importantly, I'll need a 1d20 roll from each of you since you've completed a scenario! Do I get a boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 3 Not this time...

Hello players!
We have received the final piece of our convention support, the special convention player rewards!
First off, if you are a BRAND-NEW player to the Adventure Card Guild (as in, the character you're using in your game is your #XXXX-1001 and you have not played any other characters in organized play) you can assign the Welcome to Pathfinder Reward to that character:
Society Initiate: You may only assign this reward to the first PFSACG character that you create. At the end of a scenario, if your character is dead, you may cross this reward off; your character is no longer dead. If you have a role card, you may instead cross this reward off to gain a card feat.

In addition, EVERY player AND box runner is going to have a 10% chance after each scenario of scoring a reward. These rewards can be assigned to any of your PFSACG characters... they don't have to apply to the character you were using. If you roll a 1 or a 20 on your d20 roll at the end of a scenario, you'll get to choose from any one of the following faction rewards:

Note about faction rewards: Faction rewards are a special type of benefit tied to the factions that use their considerable influence within the Pathfinder Society to pursue their own agendas. You may apply no more than one faction reward to a given character at one time. You may use no more than one power from a faction reward per scenario. Each faction reward specifies additional requirements that, once fulfilled, grant additional uses of the reward’s power. Once you have used all of the powers from a faction reward, including the powers that have additional requirements, you may assign another faction reward to that character.

Player Reward 1: Concordance Faction Reward
[ ] [ ] Elemental Scholar (The Concordance Faction Reward): You may check a box that precedes this reward to reduce Acid, Cold, Electricity, Fire, or Poison damage dealt to you by 2.
You may use this reward up to 2 additional times if you fulfill the following requirements. When you fulfill the requirement, check the box that precedes it; when you use the reward, cross that line off.
[ ] Exceed the difficulty of a check to acquire a card that has the Acid, Cold, Electricity, Elemental, Fire, or Poison trait by 6 or more.
[ ] Exceed the difficulty of a check to defeat a monster that has the Elemental trait by 6 or more.

Player Reward 2: Dark Archive Reward
[ ] Collector of Wonders (Dark Archive Faction Reward): On your turn, you may check the box that precedes this reward to draw an item that has the Alchemical or Magic trait or a spell from the box.
You may use this reward up to 2 additional times if you fulfill the following requirements. When you fulfill the requirement, check the box that precedes it; when you use the reward, cross that line off.
[ ] Acquire a boon that has the Book trait, a boon that lists Knowledge in its check to acquire, or a spell.
[ ] Succeed at a Knowledge check to defeat a bane.

Player Reward 3: Grand Lodge Reward
[ ] [ ] Society Agent (Grand Lodge Faction Reward): You may check an unchecked box that precedes this reward to automatically succeed at your check to temporarily close a location.
You may use this reward up to 2 additional times if you fulfill the following requirements. When you fulfill the requirement, check the box that precedes it; when you use the reward, cross that line off.
[ ] Acquire an ally that lists Diplomacy in its check to acquire.
[ ] Close a location on the first turn of a scenario.

Player Reward 4: Liberty's Edge Reward
[ ] [ ] Freedom Fighter (Liberty’s Edge Faction Reward): After you roll on your Charisma check, Diplomacy check, or check attempted before you act, check a box that precedes this reward to add or subtract 1 die; take the new result.
You may use this reward up to 2 additional times if you fulfill the following requirements. When you fulfill the requirement, check the box that precedes it; when you use the reward, cross that line off.
[ ] Defeat a monster that has the Captain or Gnoll trait.
[ ] Succeed at a Charisma or Diplomacy non-combat check to defeat a villain or a henchman.

Player Reward 5: The Exchange Reward
[ ] Master of Trade (Exchange Faction Reward): After the roll on your check to acquire a weapon, an armor, or an item, check the box that precedes this reward to add 1d6; take the new result.
You may use this reward up to 2 additional times if you fulfill the following requirements. When you fulfill the requirement, check the box that precedes it; when you use the reward, cross that line off.
[ ] All of the cards offered by a trader you visit have an adventure deck number lower than that of the current scenario.
[ ] Succeed at a Craft non-combat check to acquire or defeat.

Player Reward 6: Silver Crusade Reward
[ ] [ ] Cleanser of Abominations (Silver Crusade Faction Reward): On your turn, you may check an unchecked box that precedes this reward to banish a scourge or a card that has the Curse trait.
You may use this reward up to 2 additional times if you fulfill the following requirements. When you fulfill the requirement, check the box that precedes it; when you use the reward, cross that line off.
[ ] Defeat a villain or henchman that has the Demon, Fiend, or Undead trait.
[ ] Play a card that shuffles at least 1 card from another character’s discard pile into his deck.

Player Reward 7: Sovereign Court Reward
[ ] [ ] Lawful Citizen (Sovereign Court Faction Reward): You may check an unchecked box that precedes this reward to evade a monster you encounter or to ignore a power that would move you.
You may use this reward up to 2 additional times if you fulfill the following requirements. When you fulfill the requirement, check the box that precedes it; when you use the reward, cross that line off.
[ ] Succeed at a check required to move.
[ ] Bury or banish an armor to reduce all damage dealt to you to 0.

This is the first online ACG event where we've been able to give out rewards like this, so I'm SUPER excited to offer them to you all! Good luck, and I hope each of you wins at least one!!

Boon time?: 1d20 ⇒ 8

Nope.

0-1A reward: 1d20 ⇒ 11

Calthaer:
Just a heads up that sharks can't be evaded. (Unless there's something special to Pheromones?)

Also heads up, if anyone is exploring Shark Island 2 before there's an update and trying to shuffle the location themself, note that it has 11 cards, not 10!

Male

This is pretty cool.
I'm Grand Lodge.
Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 11
About as far from gaining the boon as I could be... :)

Scarab Sages

Male

Boon Time: 1d20 ⇒ 7

Not for me, either.

Male

Time for a strategy huddle, folks.

Elinnea has turned up the villain again. (Nice work.)

We have 4 open locations, with the villain alone at 1 of them.
For the price of a banished ally, two just-moderately-difficult combats (CTD Combat 10), and one tougher combat (CTD Combat 19), we can end this thing in just a few turns.

I'm holding an ally and 3 blessings. I could either take out a shark or close Lonely Island. (I figure I could even take the villain with 2d10+2d4+d6+d8+2, but others in our group could bring more, I'm sure.)

I propose either:
[A] Close this out ASAP and move on to a friendlier scenario. (I actually did not look at the next one, though, and I don't recall it.)
or
[B] Explore Lonely Island for boons (despite the 3 barriers). Then do plan [A].

What do y'all think?

I’d vote for a little more looting. By my count this is all we have:
Armor ? (Plunder)
Armor 1
Armor B
Blessing B
Ally ? (Charm Animal)

Ideally, I’d like either a Ally (though there are none to acquire) or a Weapon.
But Valendron can’t even take armor.

Male
EmpTyger wrote:

Normally, I'd be for it. But, we're looking at a really unfriendly start-of-turn effect at two locations, and a tough close for some of us (like me - I speaking of the H to earn a close attempt/ H to close).

Also these are very boon-rich locations.

Note: I'll be afk for a few hours. I'll check in before bed.

There would be a benefit to actually permanently closing the lonely island: at least we’d get one more ally from it, instead of just banishing another one for the temp close. Fighting another henchman would also make the villain fight a bit tougher, but I still think exploring there would be a good idea.

If we run into some awful barrier that makes us want to end things early, at least now we know how to get into position to end the scenario.

Female Lunar Naga Tier 1 Sorcerer

OK.
Unexpectedly I have some time to post. I'm going to go ahead and see what the Lonely Island has. Note if I find a Strength weapon I'll just punt on it.

I'm currently at the Lonely Island, but not alone, as Valendron (helpfully) brought me there.

Scarab Sages

Male

If we know where the villain is, then we can just leave him there and loot away...but I personally am not in favor of wading through all the Shark Island monsters to get a few more armors (of which we already have too many, and likely what we're going to get from those places. Maybe a blessing; I could use a B blessing, I suppose). The plan to permanently close the Lonely Island is a sound one in my book.

Hope no one wanted that Item B? Didn't seem worth spending a blessing on only a B boon, so I just took the 50% chance.

What is everyone looking for? Because no reason to keep going as soon as we've all secured an upgrade we're willing to take.
I'm hoping for an Ally or Weapon.
Calthaer is hoping for a Blessing.
Robert?
Elinnea?

Right now we have, assuming my counts are correct:
2 Blessings (B B)
1 Ally (?)
3 Armor (B 1 ?)

Scarab Sages

Male

Well now we have another Armor B. While I would prefer a Blessing B, if someone else wants it, that's fine. I'd be equally happy with an Ally B (Talisman Crafter has Cha/Diplomacy/Craft to acquire) or an Armor 1 (Vestments of Authority is Con / Fort / Diplomacy to acquire), or a Weapon B/1 (Spelldagger has an Arcane to acquire), or an Item 1. Just about anything except Spell.

Not sure I have too much interest in these Armor Bs, either.

Deck handler

I would take a Blessing, but really I'm hoping for an Ally. Just a B would be fine. If we don't completely close this location to get one more ally, I can try to hunt down one of those weapons for EmpTyger so we're not fighting over the same upgrade. ;)

There probably will be better scenarios for acquiring boons down the line. At least, I hope so.

Male

Tyler: You left the At This Location power on the closed Shark Island. There is no At This Location power on a closed Shark Island.

Calthaer: There is no Hammerhead Shark to fight when you begin your location at a closed Shark Island.

Scarab Sages

Male

I wasn't at a closed Shark Island; I was at Shark Island 2, which would be closed except that we found the villain there.

Deck handler

I’m going to send Lini along with Mavaro in the ship to avoid just that, but I’m waiting for an animal ally from Tyler before I take my turn.

Male

D'oh.
Yes of course -- sorry for my kibitzing.

Male

I'm slammed at work. I'll try to post on my lunch hour.

Female Lunar Naga Tier 1 Sorcerer

Do folks mind if I close Lonely Island?

I just hit the henchman. My plan is to win and close after, instead of going through 3 barriers just for a weapon and a spell.

Let me know if you want LI to stay open.

Deck handler

Close it, I say! We'll have gotten a weapon and an ally and not run into any of the barriers, so I'm content.

I feel a little bad that you had to banish two allies to get us to this point, but I guess they're both basics so you can replace them after the scenario.

Scarab Sages

Male

Close. I think we all have something to upgrade with. Maybe not our ideal / favorite, but the important thing now is to get our first powers feats. Then I can get to a Shark Island for a temp close and so can someone else maybe a third person can kill Adaro before it comes back around and I have to do a start of turn shark.

Then we get to the good part, which is dividing the spoils.

I’m okay with closing. I agree about the barriers, and I think we have the boons we wanted anyhow.
(And definitely don’t feel guilty about deprioritizing flavor!)

Scarab Sages

Male

So here's a random Q...now that I can recharge to topdeck a card - can I topdeck the very card I just recharged? I would assume so...you recharge, then you search your deck to bring a card to the top, then shuffle the rest. But it seems a little powerful. Maybe a lot powerful. It means any card in my entire deck can be used for skills, all for the low cost of a recharge. He goes from zero to hero with one power feat.

I moved Celeste to cover one open location, and Valendron is covering the other. And I think we would each have enough resources to close twice in case Mavaro gets unlucky and Lini needs to try. (Assuming Mavaro can even try to fight the villain? Not certain what most of his cards do.)

Scarab Sages

Male

What I can do is...

Rochin - bury to get Strength + 2d6
Discard something to get The Missing Eye to top to make my STR 1d8+2 (knowledge)
Blessing of the Quartermaster adds a die (1d8)

So 2d6 + 2d8 + 2, just with the cards I have, for a 15, right? Anydice says 80% at least 15...is that right? Blessing would make it what...96%? How sure we wanna be?

Male

Turns out the barbarian is 2 stronger for every location-henchman we beat, so he's a 21 now.

We're awash in blessings, right?
I think Lini, Celeste and Valendron can all give a blessing for the Villain fight, and still have 2 blessings to spare, one for each henchman-fight-temp close.

Male

I wouldn't hold anything back for a 2nd try. Go full in, guns blazing. (That's my playstyle, anyway. :) )
Celeste has d10+d8+2d6+d4+2 to make 10 w/out even a blessing.

I think it’s only 19 (15+4. We beat real sharks at Lonely Island and Shark Island 2; the rest have been summoned, so they don’t count towards the difficulty bump.

Scarab Sages

Male

If we throw four blessings at the check and it's a 19 then it's like 99%. 2d6+5d8+2. Go for it?

Deck handler

Sounds good to me!

My second blessing can go to whichever henchman fight needs more support.

I’m 85% to close without a blessing, 98% with.
Although, looks like Celeste has 2 blessings also? So we could use 1 blessing for each closing check.
We are literally swimming in blessings!

Scarab Sages

Male

Ok give me a few to close out the work day and get home nd then will post.

Male
EmpTyger wrote:

Yep.

I forgot Shark Island 1 closed with a villain fight & was counting that as a henchman defeat.
(I have a better grasp of details when not pulled in five directions at once. Honest.)
Villain is 19 CTD.

Male

Looks like
Celeste's 2 blessing go to her close and villain fight
Lini's 2 blessings go to Valendron's close and villain fight
Valendron gives a blessing to the villain fight.
Mavaro uses his own blessing on himself (greedy SOB*).

*totally kidding.

Scarab Sages

Male

Actually, let me get the ball rolling...move there and explore, folks can start in on their temp close checks.

Male

I'm afk until late evening (late evening for me, that is).
Give 'em hell, Calthaer.

Scarab Sages

Male

Done. So we all get a random blessing from the box, right? Is this an additional, bonus upgrade the way that the weapon from the last scenario was?

And a Powers feat? Mine will obviously be to recharge (rather than discard) cards to get a card to the top of my deck...with my big question being whether I can choose as a card to put on top the very card I recharged. Can I?

I will defer to the other players in terms of what primary upgrades they would like; I'm good with just about everything except for a spell or Armor B.

Grand Lodge

<VC Cartmanbeck, PFS# 44004> Female Gnome Sorcerer 16/Oracle 1 | Important links: PFSACG Pregens

@Calthaer: Yep, you can choose the card you recharged as the one that goes on top. Mavaro is the best!

Deck handler

Yay for the victory!

The parrot should also be in the acquired list. I would prefer one of the Ally B’s, to replace my Dog with a well-trained Mastiff.

Random blessing: 1d6 ⇒ 5 Blessing of Milani, Blessing 1

I like that one, so I will swap out one of my Blessings of the Gods, assuming we do get a bonus upgrade for it again.

For my power feat, I think I will go with weapon proficiency.
