Ok well Sierra, Marla, and Tortella go before us. But I'm not sure I will be able to post when they do, so I'll make a couple of "if then..." statements for round 2.
If the gator IS still a threat after Sierra, Marla, & Tortella act then these attacks are against the gator.
If the gator is NOT still a threat for either of them then the attacks are against the kobold. Even in difficult terrain we both have the movement to close with her.
Sithiss strikes at the creature threatening her master...
Sithiss bite att: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
If that hits then Sithiss bite damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4,Sithiss grab: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Then it is Selter's turn to strike with the magically enhanced club...
Selter club att: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
If that hits then Selter club damage: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (3, 4) + 5 = 12
Now how does THAT make you feel?!?
If Selter struck at the gator, then after his attack he will take a 5 ft step diagonally up and left. If he struck at the kobold, he will have used his movement to close with her.
Selter's reflex save if still in AoA: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

So close, yet so far!
Acenith struggles to break free as she is caught in the entangling vines once more.
Strength check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
She wrenches herself free once more and moves towards the kobold, loosing her shield.

I believe Sithiss is outside the area. So she can move and attack the kobold. If I am wrong on that, let me know.
Sithiss moves toward the remaining threat an strikes at the small kobold.
Sithis bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20, Sithis bite damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Sithis grab attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 If this is higher than the kobolds CMD, the kobold is now grappled!
Selter attempts to get free of the plantlife which has grabbed him.
Selter reflex save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 Not sure if I'm supposed to make a reflex save each round or if once entangled it is just a strength check to get free.
Selter strength check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Excellent ssstrike Sithiss!
If the reflex save allows me to make an attack...
Selter club: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 but I missed anyway.

Tortella drops his spear, pulls out his ritual sacrificial axe, and moves in for the kill.
Greataxe: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18, Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Bite: 1d20 + 3 - 5 ⇒ (6) + 3 - 5 = 4, Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Marla's spell finishes, and Brak is suddenly twice his normal size, but with the battle over, she sighs and dismisses the transmutation now that the vines subside.
Brak nods and steps forward to look at the fallen Kobold. "Filthy little things. Almost as bad as Goblins." he mutters.

I got gator bit for 9 and Sithiss got hit for 3. Anyone else hurt?
CLW wand Sithiss: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
CLW wand Selter: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
CLW#2 wand Selter: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
I am still down 1 point, but I will let that ride.
Let usss sssearch the area for usable sssuppliesss.
guidance then perception: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 8 + 1 = 18
Then detect magic.

"Pitiful creature. It was so eager to throw its life away, and for what? We posed no danger to it. We were merely passing. I hope it finds peace on its final journey."
"Well fought fellows, especially young Sithiss. He was quite formidable. He is a he right, Selter? It's hard to tell."
Actually, it's hard to tell with you too, Selter. I better not ask.

![]() |

"Oh. Right. Yes, I do apologise. You're male, of course. I didn't need to ask that, certainly. That's obvious. Anyone can see that."
"Sithiss, though. I should have known. I can see it now. Very feminine."
Honestly, how can you tell with these snake people? I can't tell with either of them, Acenith thinks to herself.

Tortella pops out of the dwelling with empty hands, looking disappointed. He shrugs, settles his greataxe under his robes, grunts, then waves with his spearhand towards the direction they were heading.

Marla looks around, relieved to be out of the swamp, and sits down on a bench the first chance she gets to make some notes in her book. Seeing Tortella having some difficulty finding a boat, she reluctantly packs up again and joins in the search.
Diplomacy 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Knowledge Local to see if I have any useful tidbits about the town - if people don't like visitors/don't like heading to the island/are poor and need the cash, etc.

"I suggest we just head down to the shore and find a fisherman. The journey can't be too long and I'm sure there will be plenty of parties interested in making a few coins."

Yup. Much as I wish it otherwise, they are not as snakelike as say the naga or even yuan-ti. So they still got legs to walk like nearly every other race. Thought it would be so much cooler if they just had a snakes body and slithered.

You locate a few folks that could possibly take you accross. Darice Sumore is a surly looking young woman, but if her sea-weathered face were softened, she could be considered pretty. Small Otti is a fat, well-groomed halfling, eating breakfast, or mayby 2nd breakfast, or perhaps 3rd. Crazy Old Tanner is a disheveled, fish-smelling, and wild-eyed man blowing thick gouts of grey smoke from an aromatic pipe.

Selter heads over to talk to the old guy.
Boat Master Tanner, can you be hired to take usss over to the isssland and how long would it take?
... Crazy Old Tanner is a disheveled, fish-smelling, and wild-eyed man blowing thick gouts of grey smoke from an aromatic pipe.
From the smell, can I tell what he is high on? Or is it just some nice smelling 'stuff' in the pipe?

GM Brute Squad |

Selter
Tanner smells of stale tobacco smoke. Woah! Hey! What are you doin' scarin' folks half to death! Your looks is enough to give a man a heart attack even if you don't sneak up on him like that!
After several mutters. Passage you say? To Escadar I assume? Well... I would take the lot of you for 7 gold pieces each.

"We... good fighters. Keep ship safe. Good... passengers. Bring... good luck. Travel cheap." Tortella says as he tries to contain the spittle.

Tortella chuckles like an old dog dies.
Tortella not eat sailor for..." He begins counting slowly on his fingers, muttering to himself. Disturbingly, he seems to get stuck at about 6.
"Not eat captain... since can't remember." he smiles.

Marla rolls her eyes at Tortella, while Brak frowns and crosses his arms.
"We'd be ever so grateful for your help, sir." she says. "We've been walking cross-country for two days and a nice cruise in your fine vessel will be just the thing to raise our spirits."
Diplomacy to aid. 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

... What really? You go straight to the crazy guy?
I figured someone else would go talk to the non-crazy people. Besides, obviously crazy is usually pretty harmless. It's the people that hide their craziness that are really dangerous.
