Everyone helps clear the wagon.
Selter moves to patch up the holes, but when he is done it is still mighty drafty.
Tortella gets a nice fire going.
Darkness has fallen as you hunker in for the night.
The temperature continues to drop and even in the wagon it still gets dangerously cold.
I need 4 fort saves against the cold. With Cold Weather Gear and being in the Wagon with a fire you get a +9 bonus to those saves. I think that's everyone. Let me know if not.

Sorry I was at my inlaws and sometimes I can't get a connection there.
fortitude first: 1d20 + 4 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 9 = 14
fortitude second: 1d20 + 4 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 9 = 22
fortitude third: 1d20 + 4 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 9 = 25
fortitude fourth: 1d20 + 4 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 9 = 30
With the protection of Nalinivati, Sithiss seems perfectly content.
I had cast endure elements on Sithiss.

The cold night passes. In the morning, the non-Humans seem to be a little stiff though. It takes a few hours for them to feel limber again.
After a bit of travel, you spot a glint of something to the left of the path. As you approach, you see a shrine to a nameless lady, simply constructed, with a glass bowl that holds gold and gem offerings.
Kn History or Nobility if you like.

![]() |

Assuming one of them tells the rest of us. (This seems likely since Acenith likes to talk as much as me even if the tacturn Brak does not.) ;)
In Tian-Xa sssuch ssshrinesss are usssed to asssk for the blesssingsss of kami or appeassse the oni. I am not sssure if a human hero countsss asss one or the other. But either way it could be bad luck to ignore sssuch a ssshrine.
Seems like 1 coin for each of us should be reasonable.
Selter carefully counts out 8 gold coins to put in the offering plate/jar.

![]() |

Nah, I'll leave it. This is the only character I play generous. My others probably would have just looked to see if there were any coins already placed at the shrine that could be made to disappear.

"She was a noble warrior who is worthy of these offerings you have given her, friends," Acenith says as she places a gold piece carefully in the bowl. She offers up a short prayer to Pharasma that Lady Kayle found her way to her rightful resting place.
"Maybe her blessing will watch over us as we travel through these mountains," she says as she prepares to continue on her way.

GM Brute Squad |

After passing over and down the mountains, the land turns into a festering swamp. Thick blobs of fog dance in between large tickets as the foul stench of swamp gas pollutes the air. Several exotic species of vines twist along the vapor-shrouded path, creating an ethereal seeming tangle. At random intervals, a splash of fetid water sounds in the distance, signaling the presence of frogs or other bog creatures. You find a small path through that seems to keep you feet mostly dry as mosquito swarms try to eat you alive.

Selter tucks the winter clothing into the bottom of the pack. It seem sunlikely to be needed for awhile.
But he withdraws and dons the swarmsuit. Between it and their scaled hides they are not bothered by pesky little bugs like the warmbloods.
If swarms are going to be anywhere, this is it. GM, is this still the same day as the night in the frozen wagon?
Selter and Sithiss lead off through the swamp. Well, it's not the beautiful rocky hills and mountains of my youth, but it's not too inconvenient. And I suppose even a swamp has beauty in it... Somewhere...
They will stay on the path for now, but they are comparing it to the map and paying attention to make sure it is leading where we need to go...
survival?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
And watching carefully for an ambush or traps...
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Sierra rejoices inside to see the snows gone and be able to get out of the cold weather suit, even before they have passed the last of the snows.
The swamp turns out to not be that much better to her. She pulls her cloak tightly around herself to keep the mosquitoes off and her hand waves across her face every two seconds trying to shoo them away but more return. "I'm being eaten alive." she mumbles.

GM Brute Squad |

Farther on, a large log rests across your dirt path, standing five feet tall. A moldering wood door covers one of the hollow ends of the log, and a makeshift mud chimney emits a thin wisp of blue smoke. From behind the crude house come the sound of someone humming an off-key tune.
Anyone know Draconic?

![]() |

... Anyone know Draconic?
Actually yes. That is the automatic language for nagaji. =)
Selter looks around carefully to see if anyone or anything is using the log home for a distraction...
Selter perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
The quietly asks the others, Any of you want to talk to whoever that is?
I got a -1 on diplomacy.

GM Brute Squad |

Oh my pretty children, I will take care of you... The sun will not burn, the bug will not bite. Pink skins will not ravage. Grow strong, my children, grow...
As you approach the log, the head of an aging Kobold peaks over at you, and she starts screaming.
Get away from my children, filthy pink-skins! Get Away! I will use you as fertilizer, yes, that will be good!

Brak Gunddur |

"Watch yourselves, enemies to your left!" Brak rumbles as he strides forward, drawing his Greataxe as he goes, and bringing it down in an arc over his head at the reptile. (the Alligator, not the Nagaji or his companion)
Greataxe vs. Alligator 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Damage 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

GM Brute Squad |

The Kobold scrambles over the Log and mutters something. Instantly weeds and swamp bushes reach out to ensnare the party.
Marla, 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Brak, 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Marla, Brak, and Acenith are Entangled!
The ground under the party's feet is now difficult terrain.
Everyone else!

![]() |

Charm Person targets get +5 to their saves if they are "currently being threatened or attacked by you or your allies". Would that apply to the kobold in this case?

![]() |

Sierra yelps in surprise as the aligator attacks and the ground grasps at her boots. With some quick moves she avoids becoming entangled. She takes out her bow and fires at the aligator.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Selter grants the power of Nalinivati to his club once again. Casts Shillelagh.
While Sithiss strikes at the alligator.
Sithiss bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
I doubt that hit and the snake is not tactical enough to move for a flanking position on its own.

[i]Another fight and I'm trapped at the back again. This is getting embarrassing.[i]
Acenith tries to break free of the vines
Strength check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
That's enough, right? If not, I'll move back. It's still difficult terrain so I'm only moving half speed, yes? With my pack on, that's pretty slow.

GM Brute Squad |

Yes it's difficult terrain, but you can double move.
Spear, bow, and axe fail to find a weakness in the tough hide of the aligator.
Round 2
It's large jaws continue to snap at the snake-man.
