Congrats to the Original Four!
Please check in here and make sure you've finalized your character sheets.
I would like to ask if everyone could standardize on using the same format for their sheet please. Have a look at Lysander's sheet. The only thing it is missing is Racial Features. This will allow me to quickly find all the information I need without having to search over 4 different layouts.
I will be opening the game play thread tomorrow. It is up to you guys if you want to role play a lot or a little in Zelkor's Ferry where the adventure begins before you set off for the Mouth of Doom. If you want to work out some reasons why your characters know each other already that is fine, or if you are all showing up in Zelkor's Ferry to find your fortunes that is fine as well :)
Good luck and good gaming!

Uilisfuen |

I think the character sheet is formatted as you wanted it. Let me know if there are any problems.
As far as the background, Cereithil, do you want Uilisfuen to come from the same tribe? They wouldn't need to be friends of course, though I like to avoid strong antagonism between PCs.

GM - Mark Garringer |

Thanks Uilisfuen! For your tool proficiency just stick with land (any) please.
I did also put a generic template version up under the Campaign Info page. If someone knows a better way to format the bbcode tags to make them display correctly to make copy/paste easier let me know and I'll gladly update it.
I forgot to mention trinkets, but that is an aspect of new characters that amuses me greatly so everyone needs to roll a d100 to determine their trinket as per the PHB. If you need a Trinket table lookup just let me know and I'll be happy to do that.
I have some thoughts about Cereithil and Uilisfuen's background connections but I'll let you guys hash it out, it doesn't have to be deep or complex but Uilis' Bond and Flaw seem to paint a pretty strong picture already :)

Garnult Tarnhammer |

Gah. This pitiful human ale tastes like goblin piss. Give me stout Dwarven Ale!

Uilisfuen |

Uilisfuen’s bond and flaw really dovetail nicely. My initial idea is that he was the sole survivor of a small war band. As the scout, he failed to realize he was leading the group into an ambush. He was shot by an arrow (keeping the arrowhead was it was removed; an ironic trophy of the enemy) and managed to slip away from the battle once it was obvious the elves other elves were dead. Something like that.
Okay, corrected tool proficiencies to land.
Trinket: 1d100 ⇒ 13
A tooth from an unknown beast...hmmm maybe that should be part of the backstory too. Hmmm.
- - - - -
”How would you know what goblin piss tastes like?” Uilisfuen laughs at his question loudly, mouth wide open and head tilted back.

Garnult Tarnhammer |

Trinket: 1d100 ⇒ 80 A Bronze Pentacle with a Rat's head in its center....hmmm.
Perhaps the Pentacle is a sigul for the group that destroyed his homeland.
That is a good question. It tastes like an elfs fighting style, fruity and without much in the way of substance. Also, I've made enough goblins piss themselves that I couldn't help but taste once Garnult guffaws at his own perceived wit.

GM - Mark Garringer |

Gameplay Thread is open!
Garnult: 1d100 ⇒ 57
Garnult: 1d100 ⇒ 6
Garnult: 1d10 ⇒ 3
Cererithil: 1d100 ⇒ 88
Cererithil: 1d100 ⇒ 75
Cererithil: 1d10 ⇒ 1
Lorian: 1d100 ⇒ 61
Lorian: 1d100 ⇒ 17
Lorian: 1d10 ⇒ 3
Uilisfuen: 1d100 ⇒ 27
Uilisfuen: 1d100 ⇒ 55
Uilisfuen: 1d10 ⇒ 4

Cererithil |

Is it too late to bring a 5th character into this? The module has a nasty reputation and a sword swinger would be very useful given we have two archers in the group, leaving the dwarf cleric to tank. Less than ideal.
Otherwise we are putting both archers on the front line. With our Armor classes its even on odds that we are both gonna die.
Also a 5th character makes a good posting buffer in case someone drops out.

GM - Mark Garringer |

I am open to re-evaluation of a 5th player if it becomes an issue. At present I do not believe it will be much of an issue. With any combat that has more than 2 foes the archers aren't going to be very happy anyway.

GM - Mark Garringer |

Cereithil Trinket: 1d100 ⇒ 63 - an alabaster mask.
Lorian Trinket: 1d100 ⇒ 61 - a cameo carved in the likeness of a hideous person.

GM - Mark Garringer |

Please follow the link under my name for the 5e Rappan Athuk to sign up to the game on roll20.net While it certainly is not as big a deal for combat, as say Pathfinder is, it will aid in keeping things straight with mapping and notes and whatnot. Thanks!
Or one of these https://app.roll20.net/join/1058647/t8Fjog

GM - Mark Garringer |

Strange. Clicking on either the link under my name (tinyurl) or the full link in my post takes me right there to the login page. :( Try looking for Zizazat.

GM - Mark Garringer |

Yeah not that game, that's probably my Pathfinder one. lol I am logged into the 5e one currently...

Garnult Tarnhammer |

I can neither follow the link under your profile (it says connection aborted here at work) nor can I click the link you posted earlier in this thread.
I think I found you though on Roll20
edit:NVM! The link in the above post works for me! I'm NilesR
Edit #2: Seems its just a black screen for me....

GM - Mark Garringer |

Garnult, I see you joined the right game as NilesR. Let me see if I can figure out why the screen is black...

Cererithil |

I think Uli is best at the back because he has a GREAT range on that Longbow. He can hit things beyond the party, hell, hit things beyond me. Also for some strange reason as a rogue of all things, I'm more perceptive, stealthy and a better tracker than the ranger.
Its a pity we don't have a tank to back up the cleric. I think things will get nasty and fast.

GM - Mark Garringer |

I have updated the links in the Campaign Info and under my alias to remove the tinyurl reference. Hopefully that's no longer a problem.

Uilisfuen |

I didn’t look at Cererithil’s character sheet, but I believe you that your PC is better at stealth and perception than Uilisfuen. I hope Uilisfuen isn’t coming off too much as a problem. I want him to be *slightly* irritating (Charisma 8) but not insufferable or heavily annoying. I’m having fun playing the character and trying to discover his personality.

GM - Mark Garringer |

Thanks for the heads up Cererithil! I can bot you for the time being as needed, if that works for everyone.

Garnult Tarnhammer |

Well, that was quick.

GM - Mark Garringer |

Sorry to see you go Lorian.
I will see what I can do about recruiting additional players.

Lysander Tremayne |

And here I am, the other player who'll be joining you here. I've been keeping some track of the game and I'm finishing up reading through it now. I'll be ready to join you with a half-elf paladin whenever is best!

GM - Mark Garringer |

Welcome Akmenos and Lysander! I will be getting you both integrated with the party shortly and into the game!

GM - Mark Garringer |

Roster changes can be tricky, do you guys prefer to a full/new integration with Akmenos and Lysander, or would you be ok with suspending the verisimilitude for a moment and just replacing Lorian with our newcomers?

Garnult Tarnhammer |

Just swap em, we haven't done much yet. All these elves look alike to Garnult anyways, he won't know the difference.

Lysander Tremayne |

I mean, narratively it always makes more sense and can be easier if we actually get introduced to the party somehow. But it's also fairly easy to just retcon us in. Maybe we slowed up to check something out?

GM - Mark Garringer |

I am going to just go with the retcon you two into the party now and drop Lorian out since it is so early in the game.
Please enjoy these trinkets:
Akmenos: 1d100 ⇒ 19 - a pipe that blows bubbles.
Lysander: 1d100 ⇒ 28 - a dragon's bony talon hanging from a plain leather necklace.
Also it looks like one of you (Akmenos?) joined the roll20 map, if the other would be so kind...I've setup your tokens and you can see the current map.

GM - Mark Garringer |

FYI - Inside Roll20 once you've loaded the map, if you click on the little gear 'My Setting' icon near the upper right corner there is a 'Display Name' value you can set to your Character's name. Not a big deal, I believe I have all the players correctly assigned to their tokens but I thought I'd mention it as it's easy to over look.

GM - Mark Garringer |

I seem to have lost track of the XP slightly as I can't seem to get Uilisfuen
Gnoll 2 200 (/4) 50
giant rat 3 75 (/5) 15
Gelatinous cube 1 450 (/5) 90
Kobold 2 50 (/5) 10
Iron Cobra 1 450 (/5) 90
Glue Trap 1 200 (/5) 40
Total = 1425
50 + 15 + 90 + 10 + 90 + 40 = 295
Let's call it 300 and level up to 2nd level! :)

Uilisfuen |

Here's the new abilities for Ranger level 2
Fighting Style: Archery
Spellcasting 2 spells known Hail of Thorns, Hunter’s Mark
Spell save DC = 8 + 2 (Prof bonus) + 1 (Wis) = 11
Spell attack modifier = 2 (Prof bonus) + 1 (Wis) = +3
Hit points: 6+2 = 8
Character sheet is updated. Let me know if there are any issues, and I'll fix it. Thanks :)
