Moon-dancer |

Urgo - DaWay asked for a Strength save, so you should be able to add you proficiency bonus.
Roused from her torpor, Moondancer stands as the hobgoblins burst in.
"The boy Urgo - save the boy!" she says.
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Geez. I don't suppose any of us have earned Inspiration for role-playing yet? If so:
Re-roll for initiative to try to beat Urgo: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
As a bonus action, Moondancer uses Bardic Inspiration on Urgo, granting him an extra 1d6 on one roll in the next 10 minutes. I'd suggest that Strength save.
"Bel, Rael, Larissa - let's finish these yellow-skinned bastards."
Shaking the bells on her wrist, she utters the words of the spell and moves behind a table for cover. The air around the hobgoblins begins to glow and each one is limned in bright blue and green flames.
Casting faerie fire. Each hobgoblin needs to make a DC 12 Dexterity save or be surrounded by flames, giving us all advantage on attack rolls.

Larissa Galanodel |

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 = 13
Seeing everyone else's attention go to the boy, Larissa whips out her sword and shield and moves to engage the enemies so they can't do as they please with the civilians.
Rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22, Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Against whichever enemy I can reach.

Urgo the Misunderstood |

Ok, so that would bring the Strength save to 11. If Moon-dancer is able to go before me, I will use the inspiration for my Save, which would bring it up to 17. ^_^
Bardic Inspiration: 1d6 ⇒ 6

The last hobgoblin moves to the table and flips over the one Rael is hiding behind.

Larissa Galanodel |

Gah! Stupid crit!
Larissa winces in pain at the heavy cut, but refuses to falter.
Bonus action, Second Wind to heal: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Shen then focuses on the opponent she wounded, trying to finish him off.
Rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17, Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Moon-dancer |

"Do not let them take the staff, Urgo!" Moondancer yells, nocking an arrow and letting it fly at one of the hobgoblins menacing the half-ogre.
Longbow attack vs hobgoblin: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Reroll from faerie fire: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 191d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Rael. |

Dex Save : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Rael dodges out from the path of the table.
" Woh! "
He stabs out at the hobgoblin, trying to bury his daggers somewhere vital.
stabbety 1 : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Dagger 1 Dmg : 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Beliminorgath |

Bel lets out a loud bellow and, using his horns, strikes at the hobgoblin who tried to strike him.
Attack-melee: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Attack-melee: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 Advantage from Faerie Fire
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Urgo the Misunderstood |

Rael, just to let you know, your off-hand will not have the Dex bonus to damage. It takes the TWF fighting style to add damage to the off-hand bonus action.
Bel, if I understand DM DaWay correctly, you can make another Strength save at disadvantage as a bonus action. Unless you are saving your bonus action for something else...

![]() |

Rael quickly dodges out of the way of the table, leaps forward an plunges his dagger deep into the hobgoblin's neck send him to the ground lifeless. (dead)
Larissa stabs the hobgoblins once more piercing his heart. (dead)
Urgo reaches in and grabs the now unconscious boy from the fire.
Bell lashes out with his horn, knicking the hobgoblin (10 damage)
Moon-Dancer fires an arrow into the hobgoblins leg (9 damage)
The hobgoblin with the arrow attacks Urgo once again, trying to cut the man down in order to grab the staff.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 152d6 + 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (6, 1) + (1, 1, 1) + 2 = 12

Larissa Galanodel |

Larissa pulls her sword out of her felled enemy, then turns her attention to the Fewmaster, determined not to let him get away again.
Can I establish flanking with myself and Urgo? Would that grant advantage?
Rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14, Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Urgo the Misunderstood |

Did my post get eaten? I wonder if I forgot to hit submit?
Urgo shifts the child to his off-hand, then seeing Larissa move in and slash at the hobgoblin Fewmaster's flanks, the half-ogre grabs the collar of Toede's collar and flings him into the fire!
Previously, I got a total of 13 for my Strength (Athletics) grapple check, but if you want me to roll again:
Strength (Athletics): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Advantage if allowed on this check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Hey look at that! My first roll was the same as last time! Maybe it remembers! Cool!

Moon-dancer |

Cringing at the sight of the wounded boy, Moondancer lines up another shot, aiming for a wounded hobgoblin if one is standing.
Longbow attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Advantage reroll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Rael. |

Oh whoops! All my players who Twf in the two f2f games I'm in have that two weapon fighting style and I just clean forgot about the regular Twf rules. My bad!
Rael dashes in to attack Fewmaster Toede striking with his daggers.
Dagger 1 : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Bonus Dagger 2 : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
1d4 ⇒ 1
And hopefully sneak attack assuming Urgo is there.
2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3
Incase of advantage from Faerie Fire:
Dagger 1 : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Bonus Dagger 2 : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

![]() |

Rael with all his efforts is only able to knick the Fewmaster's arm. (1 damage)
Larissa moves to attack the Fewmaster but misses. You have flanking and advantage.
Urgo grabs the Fewmasters collar, 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 but he manages to slip away.
Bell misses with his gore attack again.
The fewmaster barks out a command to take the big one down, and then swings at Urgo. 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 202d6 + 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1) + (6, 6, 2) + 2 = 20
Moondancer takes out the hobgoblin on Bel.
The last hobgoblin attacks Urgo at his masters command. 1d20 + 3 + 1d4 ⇒ (10) + 3 + (1) = 141d8 + 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + (6, 3) + 1 = 12

Larissa Galanodel |

Larissa moves to attack the Fewmaster but misses. You have flanking and advantage.
In that case:
Attack reroll from advantage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Rael. |

Rael continues to attack the Fewmaster, ducking and weaving
Dagger 1 : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Bonus Twf Dagger 2 : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
1d4 ⇒ 2 + Sneak Attack: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11
I should get sneak attack even without advantage because Urgo and Larissa are adjacent to this guy, right?
Is any one still Affected by Faerie Fire?

Moon-dancer |

Moondancer draws a third arrow and sends it flying at the remaining hobgoblin goon, hoping that the others will finish off the Fewmaster.
Longbow attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Advantage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Urgo the Misunderstood |

Urgo draws the staff (since he only has one free hand) and uses it to block the hobgoblin's attacks, while his friends drop the ugly Fewmaster.
Using the dodge option to impose disadvantage on all opponents.

Larissa Galanodel |

Larissa presses the attack, trying to down the Fewmaster.
Rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22, Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Rapier (flanking/advantage): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Also, using Action Surge to attack again. Don't wanna let this guy get away again! However, if I drop him, I'll claim a KO rather than a kill, so we can question him.
Rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22, Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Rapier (flanking/advantage): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Beliminorgath |

I do not think there is much space for me to attack, so I will attempt to intimidate the hobgoblin to make him surrender.
Looking at the hobgoblin left, Bel stands to his full height and lets out a tremendous bellow right at the creature, hoping to frighten him into surrendering.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20
Cool a crit on a skill roll!!!

Rael. |

Woh! Awesome rolls guys!

Urgo the Misunderstood |

Urgo gently sets down the boy in front of Moon-dancer and then moves with purpose toward Fewmaster Toede.
The half-ogre picks up the groveling hobgoblin by the breastplate lifting him into the air to look eye-to-eye, "We will never see you again, or by my honor, you WILL die. Est suralas oth mithas."
The PHB says that in some cases, you may use an ability score other than the standard in certain cases. Would this allow me to use Strength in place of Charisma for Intimidate?
Intimidate (+5 if can use Str/+2 if must use Cha): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Larissa Galanodel |

Seeing the fight won, Larissa turns her attention to the injured boy. "Hang on!" she says, kneeling by him and feeding him one of her healing potions.
Healing potion: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1) + 2 = 6

Moon-dancer |

"The boy will live - that is good," Moondancer says, relief in her voice. "But I fear we may not if we don't leave here. Otik - where have these hobgoblins come from? Why have the city guards not run them off? And are there more that will be coming for us?"

Urgo the Misunderstood |

Urgo watches the hobgoblin go, but once he is out of sight, the half-ogre falters a bit, holding his wounds.
"I'm glad he'll be alright," he says to Larissa, then looks up to hear Otik's response.

Larissa Galanodel |

At Urgo's words, the Fewmaster turns tail and runs.
Would anyone object to an AoO on that? Would anyone join me in doing so? And if that isn't enough, I've still got a slot for either sleep or magic missile...

Urgo the Misunderstood |

You know that Urgo would never allow an attack on an unarmed and retreating foe. ^_^ He tries to live according to the Oath and the Measure of the Knights of Solamnia, even though he would never be accepted as one.
