Lumos Starsong |

"Lets see how they deal with the light of the sun!" Lumos errupts in a burst of radiant light. "I don't know how well this work so you two, get that door open."
Radiant Damage: 2d10 + 10 ⇒ (9, 7) + 10 = 26
Channel Divinity - 30ft radius, no effect to allies. Dex 17 for half.

caster4lyfe |

I think it's con for half but doesn't matter as each worm has 10 hp.
Lumos' blast of light sears away the front of the tidal wave of worms, buying a little time but more worms keep pouring through.
Roland finds that the doors open easily into a strange temple room built around a glowing purple hole in the floor that dimly lights the entire, cavernous room. Serpentine and writhing shapes are carved into every structure. Rubble lies in certain areas on the floor.
You notice that the rubble seems to have been ceremonially arranged in certain areas for reasons that are unknown to you. There are bones mixed into the rubble.
Map updated. You should be able to move yourself on the map. The rubble area right inside the door is difficult terrain. The white boxes represent areas you cannot see very well yet. Everyone still has movement left in round 0 while Rolan still has his standard action as well. Opening the door can count as interacting with an object.

Jovii |

Jovii steps to the side to free himself from the rubble and advances up to the pillar, to get a better look at the pillars themselves and the glowing hole. As he walks, he activates his sunblade, spreading some additional light into the room.

caster4lyfe |

Jovii stares deep into the glowing purple hole, seeing writhing shapes that seem to be made of pure energy. Looking closely at the pillars, Jovii notices that there seem to be two types of worm-like creatures inscribed on the pillars intertwining with each other. One is larger and seems more flexible while the smaller one seem scaly.

Lumos Starsong |

I meant to ask if I had a chance ahead of time to possibly Try a planar summons.
Lumos moves into the room confidently. Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 ”Snakes can be formidable but nothing can stand against the power of the sun. Let us find these creatures and end them.

That could count as a longer than 1 hour buff if you wish to cast it. You'll need to deduct 1000 gp from your 3000 gp starting gold to pay the creature.

Lumos Starsong |

I just reread the spell. It’s only for binding. You need a Target first. So usually you would summon a creature into a magic circle and then use planar binding on it. So I changed it to Freedom of Movement instead. See, these are the reasons we do this lol.
So for my hour long buffs, we will say Freedom of Movement and Protection from Poison. If you feel it’s too late just say so and I’ll roll through buffless or buff as I go.

I think you're reading the PF version of the spell. The 5e version doesn't require the creature to already be present.

Greycastle |

I think you're reading the PF version of the spell. The 5e version doesn't require the creature to already be present.
“With this spell, you attempt to bind a celestial, an elemental, a fey, or a fiend to your service. The creature must be within range for the entire casting of the spell. (Typically, the creature is first summoned into the center of an inverted magic circle in order to keep it trapped while this spell is cast.) At the completion of the casting, the target must make a Charisma saving throw. On a failed save, it is bound to serve you for the duration. If the creature was summoned or created by another spell, that spell's duration is extended to match the duration of this spell.”

Lumos Starsong |

Might want to check the map. I was trying to move Lumos on my phone. I should have known better. Some of the map got shifted around.
Lumos will move into the bone circle in the room to peer down the giant purple hole, sword and shield at the ready.

caster4lyfe |

Fixed it. You didn't peek under my rectangles, did you! ;) No biggie either way. I'm going to jump to the next round as it doesn't seem like Rolan has anything else he wants to do this round.
Rolan shuts the door behind him, closing off the tide of worms.
The purple hole seems to be an orb of purple energy set into the floor. It pulses brightly as Lumos approaches. Then you hear rumbling noises, a very loud slithering sound coming from the north east, and a roar of aggression coming from the southeast.
Lumos: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2
Jovii: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Rolan: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Lumos
A great, white, scaly, serpentine creature erupts from the southern half of the room and hovers over the purple orb. From it's maw erupts a blizzard.
Con Lumos: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Con Jovii: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Con Rolan: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
DC 19 Save for half damage (cold): 12d8 ⇒ (2, 5, 8, 8, 8, 2, 1, 7, 2, 3, 8, 4) = 58
The creature's awesome and terrifying presence shakes the three explorers to the core of their psyches.
Wis Lumos: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
Wis Jovii: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Wis Rolan: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Jovii and Rolan shake off the fear of their opponent but Lumos' mind is filled with visions of great, scaly creatures tearing cities to pieces.
Lumos is frightened for one minute. May repeat the saving throw (DC 14) at the end of each turn to end the condition.
If you're just waiting on an ally to go, order doesn't matter. So if it's Rolan's turn, it's also Lumos' turn. Right now, Jovii is up. Anyone who wishes may attempt an arcana check to see how much they know of this white attacker.

Lumos Starsong |

according to Jovi’s prep we have adv on our mental s saves so the wis would have been as adv. Stop rolling so low for me, it’s like you’re trying to kill us lol.
Adv if it applies WIS: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
Arcana 1d20 ⇒ 4

caster4lyfe |

Ah yes good point. Let's see if Jovii maintained his concentration on psychic redoubt but the wis save would technically be made before the con save so it would be in place there. Don't blame me about the saves. The lowest save or suck the players rolled on the dice last fight was 15! Talk about annoying.
Jovi Con against DC 29: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Jovii's concentration is broken by the blast of ice. But he recognizes his foe as an adult white dragon and realizes that cold damage will probably not harm his foe.

Lumos Starsong |

I was just joking about the saves. Lol. But you bring up a good point about the concentration rolls.
FoM DC 29 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
PaP DC 29 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
So much for pre buffing lol. Oh, it makes no difference so far but allies w/in my aura of 10ft do have +3 saves.

Jovii |

As Jovii gets blasted by the blizzard spouting forth from the monster's maw, he mentally steels himself against cold, glowing an icy blue just as the cold energy washes over him! Then in response, Jovii darts forward, grows to a massive size, and swings his enlarged Sunblade at the serpent!

Lumos, FoM is not concentration so you don't lose it. What's PaP?
Jovii barely manages to land his blow home on the creature, who roars in pain and strikes back with its tail.
Legendary action tail attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Bludgeoning damage: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12
A great slithering mass of some worm-like creature slides out of the northeast toward Jovii. In a booming voice, the white dragon proclaims
Behold, the covenant of the wurm!
The dragon seizes the opportunity created by its partner to strike at Lumos as well.
Legendary action tail attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
Bludgeoning damage: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (8, 7) + 6 = 21
May make an arcana check to know about the second creature (which dashed toward Jovii, as well. Rolan and Lumos are up.
Dragon: 176/200
Worm: 325/325

Lumos Starsong |

Lumos raises his shield and a brilliant flash of light emanates from his emblazoned sun. Reaction for Warding Flare, Disadvantage on that tail attack roll
PaP Protection against Poison, looked it up its Protection from Poison. I couldn't have had to concentration spells up anyway. All good, both are 1 hour spells.
Arcana: 1d20 ⇒ 5

caster4lyfe |

Ah ok gotcha. Boss map link got moved up to top of the page, btw.
Tail attack disadvantage: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Lumos' flash of light causes the dragon's tail to veer off course at the last second as the beast recoils in pain.
Jovii recognizes the other creature as a Neothelid and knows its properties. He thinks it odd to find these two chaotic evil creatures working together.
Rolan and Lumos up.

Lumos Starsong |

Lumos surrounds himself with healing energy his eyes begin to glow and semi transparent wings sprout from his back. He the leaps off of the ground flying 30ft into the air and futhur into the room.

Lumos would be provoking an AoO from the dragon except its tail has a 15 ft reach so he's still in melee range of its tail, not its claws or bit. Kind of a weird implication of 5e AoO rules, as I understand them.
Rolan fires three bolts of force at the dragon but they all seem to deflect harmlessly off of its hardened scales. The dragon strikes again at Jovii.

From his vantage point in the air, Lumos stares deep into the purple orb. In it, he sees what appears to be a knot of some serpentine figures. A scaly shape seems tied around a squirming and larger shape, both forms made of pure energy.
Jovii up.

Jovii |

Now caught between the two monsters, Jovii feels the need to reposition himself, but not before taking a swing at the white monster with his Sunblade. After that, he quickly teleports to safety, flapping a few feet off the ground but a good ways away.

Rolan and Lumos up. Rolan, if you could put some vital stats in your header, it would save me some time. AC, HP, and saves in particular.

Backpedaling as the Dragon comes swooping in, then reeling under the onslaught of the mighty Wyrm, Rolan is clearly not having a great day. Steadying himself, Rolan will disappear in a flash of light and reappear a short distance away. He will then unload more Eldritch Blasts on the Dragon.

Greycastle |

Jovi has had a medical emergency from one of his other posts. He hopes to be back by the end of the week.

*Rolan |

Posting this to all my games: Sorry for the lack of posting. For the second time this year, I got the flu, and the internet is out at my house right now (where it has been for the last two days). It should hopefully be resolved by Monday, and if not I'm going to switch ISPs. Please feel free to bot me until I am back up and running, and if I am running your game, I haven't forgotten about you!

Jovii |

Hey guys, I'm working my way back and should be able to resume normal posting rates in the next couple days (but I am back on the boards now). An 'annoying' (to say the least) incident last week with my contact lenses ended up scratching both corneas pretty badly, and I couldn't open either eye for about ~4 days. Thanks for the well-wishing and the patience. Happy to be back.
PS, I had someone log into my account and post that I was gone for a bit, and I think they missed this campaign (maybe bc there's no discussion thread?) but I saw that Greycastle figured it out anyway. Thanks for checking/waiting.
PPS, good luck Rolan!

Jovii |

Jovii gathers his wits and thinks quickly, coalescing his thoughts into pure force and aiming it directly at the white beast.

Using 'Push'. Strength save DC 18. 7d8 force damage and pushed back up to 35 ft straight back. Save for half and no movement.
