Safe for the moment outside of the reach of the creature, Rolan begins chanting and as he finishes his spell, crackling black lightning courses through it's body, ripping at it's lifeforce.

Con Save DC 20 vs. Finger of Death or take: 7d8 + 30 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 3, 5, 2, 8) + 30 = 60 Necrotic damage, or half on a successful save.

The creature recoils in pain as Rolan's black lightning strikes it.

It manages to shrug off the majority of the blow but can't avoid the rest.

Jovii up. The death of the dragon simplifies this initiative quite a bit, especially with no more legendary actions.

Jovii switches his focus from hardening his skin to further enhancing his already-enlarged size. Keeping the beast at a distance, he strikes out at it with his hand, which grows a terrifyingly sharp pair of class at the last second.

Bestial claws: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
damage, slashing: 7d10 ⇒ (6, 9, 3, 1, 2, 5, 10) = 36
damage, psychic: 2d8 ⇒ (8, 6) = 14

Spoiler:
7 psi pts for Bestial claws. Bonus action switching focus to Giant Growth, so I lost 1 AC but gain 5' of reach, which brings me to 20' total. Maneuvering into a space where it's at my max reach and attacking.

A deep, horrible squeal is emitted by the creature. It retaliates by regurgitating a huge stream of acid at Jovii and Rolan.

Acid dam: 10d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 1, 1, 3, 3, 4, 6, 3) = 33

Jovii Dex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Rolan Dex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Both take the acid full-force.

Swooping in, the angelic warrior lashes out with his Longsword still alight with brilliant energy.
Shatterspike: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21 for Magical Slashing: 1d8 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 5 + (5) = 14 and Radiant Damage: 8d8 + 16 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 4, 7, 5, 2, 7) + 16 = 48

Shatterspike: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14 for Magical Slashing: 1d8 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + 5 + (2) = 14 and if this hits go ahead and add 4d8 radiant, but I don’t think it will hit.

Determined to deal with the huge threat, the creature lashes out at Jovii again.

Concentration drops instantly (free action to drop your own concentration, so Jovii is no longer huge and thus is affected by the grasping tentacles.

Jovii is pulled by the tentacles toward the great maw of the beast.

Jovii is swallowed by the great worm, who then turns on his remaining friends.

Jovii, you are blinded and restrained. You feel the creature's stomach acids working away at you but you don't take damage from them yet. All party up.

I guess I could use my reaction to avoid the tentacle...but that seems less exciting than fighting from the inside & and I hate "undoing" chains of events like that when they're so cinematically cool.

Using 'Energy Immunity' to gain acid immunity for concentration/1 hr max.

Rolan's blasts knock the creature about. It rears back and screams in pain while Jovii seizes the opportunity and hacks his way out of the living creature, causing it to fall dead as Jovii exits, covered in the great worm's gore.

Yeah the dragon's lack of recharge was huge. I thought you guys might be in trouble but figured I'd just let it play out. In case you're curious, destroying the orb with intertwined energy worms in the middle would have broken the dragon's control of the neothelid, causing it to attack the closest target. But you guys didn't end up needing that option. Fun for me to get some more experience designing/running high level encounters in 5e, something which rarely comes up.
