Thoughts on dirge of the Victorious Knights?

Silver Crusade

Range 120 ft.
Effect 120-ft. line, 10 ft. wide
Duration instantaneous
Saving Throw Reflex half; Spell Resistance yes

DESCRIPTION

By performing part of an opera, you call forth spectral illusions of mounted knights to trample your foes under the hooves of their glorious steeds.

The shadowy knights appear in an adjacent 10-foot square and ride forward in the direction you indicate, dealing 1d6 points of damage per caster level (maximum 20d6) to all creatures in their path. Half of this damage is cold damage, while half results directly from arcane power and is not subject to cold resistance or immunity. The knights cannot pass through force effects or barriers that block incorporeal creatures or undead.

Is it just me or is this unusually strong for a bard spell?

Silver Crusade

It’s a 6th level spell for them (gained at 16th), their highest level of spell, so not really.

Don’t really know why you tacked on “strong for a Bard Spell”.

what is their speed? because tbh it seems kinda like a weaker, harder to resist fireball/ray combination.

In practice besides a small material component cost it is also a full round cast, which dramatically reduces its use as a evocation. They have some other sonic spells that are often more useful even if they have less max damage potential. That said it is a fun spell.

Really, that 1 round cast time is a huge problem. At the level which you could get the spell (16th) there are going to be a lot of opportunities for enemies to hit you during your casting and interrupt the spell, causing you to lose it.

I think it is a fantastic spell and made even more so since it is ONLY a Bard spell! Sorcs/Wiz, Druid, Paladin, Summoner, Arcanist, etc need not apply. You ain't gettin' this one!
Yes, a bit bitter that other classes get spells with 'dirge' (Ghostbane) and 'litany' (or other performer synonyms) in the title and often the Bard doesn't.
