Sword beams from Legend of Zelda are possible, I just discovered.

Sacred Weapon Special Ability allows your weapon (longsword for Link) to count as your holy symbol.

Symbolic Mastery Feat lets you shoot a beam out of your holy symbol, or use that same energy in a melee attack.

Congrats, you now have the option of sword beams.

Bonus if you use the Advanced Weapon Training option of the Fighter class to get an Item Mastery Feat (Symbolic Mastery) for your weapon without Sacred being on it.

I’d been looking for a way to make Link for ages, when I found this feat and weapon combo. Just thought I’d share the good news.

I'LL ALLOW IT

Not Earth(/Golarion)-shaking, but conceptually cool. I wonder what symbol you get if you can cast divine spells but don't worship a deity (possible even in the Pathfinder Campaign Setting for Druids, Hunters, Oracles, Paladins, Rangers, Channeler of the Unknown Clerics, and maybe even Heretic Inquisitors).

There's also the magic weapon ability Sharding.

Reading about the Sharding weapon property makes me think of THIS.

Be sure to deliver the "spell-like ability" of the item mastery feat through your weapon as you make a normal attack, via the Conductive magic weapon property. Should work with Sharding too, but that's a lot to spend for this effect.

I am all in on both of these. I will point out that if you pray to the right deity, your weapon may already double as a holy symbol. Hammers for Torag and long swords for iomedae can skip the sacred weapon ability. Can probably justify a few others, but those are the first two that come to mind.
