Advice

So I'm a new player to the tabletop gaming scene and was looking for some advice. I have always enjoyed super heroes, and one of the main reasons I enjoy role playing is the re-creation of iconic heroes as well as making new ones with my own design!

Overall, I have been trying to soak up as much info as I could, because I feel like every new feat or archetype I learn about is a small tweak I can make to fit the characters back story just right. Right now though I'm at a loss, and new your HELP!!!

I was thinking about Thor, in general the feats I have seen so far are lack luster for bludgeoning weapons or hammers. In addition lighting also feels like the non-preferred damage type, even though IMO it has so much potential for flavor and raw damage. I recently saw the storm kindler and storm druid that seem interesting, are there any other fun obscure class like such, more for flavor then min maxing here?

IF YOU ONLY WANT THE QUESTION READ BELOW
Goals being not min maxed but respectable character
1) Electric Blaster (I like the flavor of electric)
2) Melee Proficient (Hammer use would be a +)
3) Utility (A guy that wants to do it himself, doesn't have to be well)

If you have, or can get access to the Bloodrager, that seems to be what you are looking for. You want the Elemental: Air bloodline.

A cleric with the Lightning subdomain and the Theologian archetype can meet all three of those requirements pretty well.

What else? A kineticist can throw the lightning around for sure. The kinetic knight archetype is better at melee but the base kineticist can be competent too and has ranged options the knight doesn't. Either has only a few utility options though.

Dwarven alchemists can drink up to buff then hit people with warhammers (or another race with the grenadier archetype for the alchemist perhaps). Their bombs can do electricity damage with the right discovery. Alchemists have no problem providing utility.

A deep marshal magus needs to use a warhammer (or battle axe or heavy pick) and like other magi can blast with shocking grasp or lightning bolt. Utility isn't their schtick but they can do some.

Quick note, no time right now: Thors hammer.
Some ideas:
Give it the Throwing enchantment so that you can throw it at people.
Then give it the Called enchantment so that you can call your hammer back to your hand (immediate action)
Also give it the Anchoring enchantment so you can set it down and no one can pick it up again :)
Finally give it the Spell Storing enchantment and store an electric spell in it. Heck, if you have electric spell casting as part of your class features, then only use them through the hammer :)
Minor idea, give it the Impervious enchantment to make it more durable.

If you cannot do all of this at once, I personally would want to have a Called/Anchoring hammer :)

Also, since it is a Mythical Hammer, pay some high level Wizard to cast Hardening on it a good couple of times, make the thing practically invulnerable.

Final note, check out the Godling 3pp class. I have not looked at it myself, but I hear it should make for a great Thor. :)
Edit: Ricochet Toss could create a throwing build, or a switch hitter with only 1 weapon.

I honestly have to second the Air bloodline Bloodrager. It's got everything you seem to be looking for and the class itself can be easily flavored to a thor type.

Alchemist, Bloodrager, Cleric, Druid, Magus, Oracle, Paladin, and Warpriest are all classes to look at.

Yup. A flying, power-attacking barbarian with lightning attacks. Totally Thor.

There isn't a Viking Thunderer archetype for Skalds?

Elemental Air or Bronze Draconic bloodrager seems like the best option.

Awesome! thanks everyone, a lot of good ideas.
Looking at the majority favorite Bloodrager, it can definitely play the part!
I'm also contemplating a warpriest because divine magic just feels right for a god to me, any way to get some electric evocation spells into a divine class?

Gobo Horde, that looks exactly like what I'm going to use for hammer flavoring! Would it being a swift action to call the hammer hurt at later levels with iterative attacks?

I really appreciate the quick response and helpful info, this is enough to chew over for a bit and make a great Thor character. The only thing I might want a little more direction on is feats? Power attack seems like a no brainer but are there any others that might help with hammers or emulating Thor?

Silver Crusade

Warpriest with Weather and Magic blessings. Throw a returning electric hammer around the battlefield from level one!

If your a Warpriest, Combat Casting is also a must.

That is super cool!

It already exists: the Hammer of Thunderbolts. It's a minor artifact: +5 giant-bane, returning, thundering Warhammer with additional features.

If you play a human, you might consider taking Racial Heritage (Storm Giant). The feat alone provides decent flavor for a Thor analogue, but the main draw is access to the Storm Soul and Storm Warrior feats, which work excellently with your concept.

for more lightinng and less hammer, a kineticist could do the work too

Don't forget Thunder and Fang. Let's you wield an earthbreaker in one hand as long as you pair it with a klar.
